It's a bit of a sad situation when a brand new game becomes dependent on modders fixing it rater than devs

I’m not sure that’s the case but it sure seems like it. They also boasted about how it can modded right from the get go.

I had/have a e drum kit that was quite open like that too, you could load in your own samples, create your own sounds. On paper it sounds incredible. But once you dig into it it’s a lot of time, things would glitch out, the actual drum kit wasn’t built very well either, and it was missing a lot of features from other kits available.

Come to think of it, people’s reviews of “it’s not that bad, could be better, you just have to do this and yeah this doesn’t work or it hiccups” is exactly what I went through. Drum kit sounded great, it was limited and it had issues. I defended that purchase for a long time until I just got fed up and bought a different one that simply works. The sounds aren’t as good but it’s been a much better drumkit overall.

I’d like to see the game developers themselves sort all of it out, and not relying on mods but I remember seeing in the discord some pole saying oh a modder can fix that. Well then why don’t they just hire the modders to build there game then.

For the moment FFB is kind of strange with my TM wheel, so I can't really says
The best feeling so far is everything set on default, when I try to get rid of the nasty vibrations I loose too much informations

For those who had issues with their Fanatec, Logitech or Thrustmaster wheel, here is some advice from Bruno (a dev) on discord:

"Please remember to make screenshots of your input device settings once you get the new patch and then reset to default, you will also need to readjust any wheel settings you made since it will feel quite different."

So anyone tried the new version FFB ?
On PS5 with TGT2 it became really good, I like it even more, just out the box (gain reduce to 60) but otherwise nothing touch

FFB came alive with warm tires
 
Why why WHY couldn’t they have just released the game now and avoided so much of the negative publicity? In a couple of weeks they’ve improved this so much. People were absolutely chomping at the bit to slap Ian Bell down and my God did they go to town on it when the game was such a disappointment on release. Mud sticks, thankfully the game itself can improve, and is.

There were several theories ranging from a pre-launch version slipping out to the team making a bunch of last-minute emergency changes that weren't vetted properly and get more wild from there. I feel it was probably some sort of combinaton, and the first patch was likely the version we were supposed to get but with the emergency fixes still applied. Maybe someday, somebody will tell us. Bet it's a wild story.
 
This update is nothing short of a revelation for this game, a massive, massive improvement, on all fronts. Full thoughts tomorrow as I'm too tired to do it now but it's very good.

As @m355y said above, if this is how the game was released, I don't think the launch would have been as negative as it was, maybe even airing on positive? Who knows.

Crazy how not even 20 days and it’s starting to turn around? If I had to take a guess… all those that bought it, were S4’s testing subjects. Guinea Pigs, then work your butt off once all the issues reveal themselves. Cost too much to do it before hand. Just throw it out there and see what sinks and what swims.

Unfortunately the bad start will have a huge effect on player numbers, I've spent the afternoon racing in ACEvo, LMU and PMR, didn't even get myself into a PMR server as the number of registered players was just too low to bother with, but LMU had like 10 splits, and ACEvo had a couple splits running the M4 GT3 around Bathurst.

They really need to have practice once you register for a race, I can't be arsed sitting staring at the screen before a race starts, even ACEvo which isn't tightly integrated let's you do whatever you like while you wait for the server to open. It adds a barrier to the lobbies, and when you look at the number and see only a few drivers registered for a race, it makes you wonder whether it's worth it to wait 15 mins got the race to start

Big oversight. I faintly remember project cars doing something similar? Sometimes waiting for a race to start is get bored and go play call of duty. Always had good races when a friend hosted a lobby though.

This is still early to make this statement, it's only 3 weeks after launch, game is improving slowly
 
👍 Jumped straight into Mosport Practice. :eek:

AI at 95. I’m usually spinning at T1, the tight off-camber double right hander that u-turns to the back half of the circuit and the final couple turns before the final turn. I did spin once at T1 and got loose a couple times, but once I calmed down and had good heat in the tyres, I was working it.
Always last at this circuit, had an awesome practice.

Replays are still a bit choppy with the frame rate, but cockpit view was fine. Could do better with the rear camera visuals. I’ll try Sebring again at some point.

Spent an hour going my through settings this morning, managed to get to a point where I can understand where I am in the braking zone and turn in, but after that nothing…

Only FFB changes I can notice is the menu layout, otherwise it’s all just feel a bit “meh”.

HUD improvements have led to my throttle and brake trace just not displaying anything as well unless there’s now a new setting I need to check or uncheck who knows…
