Prologue Cup: Race 3

Howdy!

It´s time for the third round of the Prologue Cup.

The Car: Nissan 240ZG '71 with ROAD-tires.

The Track: New York City course

The Rules:

You must have at least two wheels on the track at all times.
Rumble strips are part of the track.
No shortcutting.
No wall riding or collisions with wall.
No cheating.

Race Method:

Arcade Mode - Single Race. No AI. Drive on an empty track, send me your best single lap time in the end of the week via PM.

The Deadline:

Monday the 5th July. 7 AM GMT. Send me your fastest time via PM before the deadline.

Discuss T-times only.

I'm Ok on this track, but please not the Fairlady... 👎

and on street tyres....oh slippy slidy fun.

Edit: Ok its not the Fairlady..its the '71 :dunce:
 
I don't know yet what tyres are more grippy...... :dunce:
 
Barbol, you don't get a choice of tyres! Pick the road tyres, furthest on left.

No Sport tyres or Normal...Am I right Cosworth?
 
Yep, that´s the idea.

But if this feels a bit drifty, we can change the tires.

Change the tyres...what!!! If we are going to do that, then we had better decide quickly. All the braking points will change etc, so if you've spent 3 days on streets you might not be very happy throwing away all that work...

Decide today and make it stick. Personally I'm up for the road tyre challenge.
 
don´t change anything, this is fun! i like the slipping and sliding thing on this car :)

Cosmic...there are five races...and five tracks, I don't know, I'm just guessing but I think Tsukuba might come up :p

The 240ZG hates me! Its like someone else is driving the back end.

It really needs a Limited Slip Diff, I keep spinning up one wheel.
Actually I think that is new for Prologue, coz I don't remember that in GT3. Nice touch, shame it keeps happening to me... :grumpy:

I'm waiting for someone elses splits...I started badly and now I'm getting worse :crazy:

I can get a high 1:29 but I'm sure its not good enough! Need to work on this one.

You'll be ok, you just don't like Rally I guess :sly:

You beat me on Fuji, but you know I was getting a 2:24 on my warm up lap on Grand Canyon ;)
 
actually i love rally. i got gold in the lessons with the impreza with a 2.23, not 100% clean i admit, but somehow the lancia didn´t suit me.
this datsun car is really strange, i tried it with tcs but that doesn´t help me to go faster. i guess you just gotta be gentle on the gas.
i also believe that the light red one is the fastest :)

2:23 is good 👍 I'm 2:24 on lesson 40.

I found the Lancia could brake harder, also my top tip would be that the stuff at the side of track had alot more grip than the middle, so I'd brake on the edge of the track and come back to the middle.

I posted my replay, if you have x-port have a look at where I was braking!

Back to this 240ZG. It is strange!

The back end squeals more than a frisky student :lol:

Saying that I'm going to be in the 1:28 soon :)

Oh I see T13R is online...he's gonna post a T2 1:20 or something :scared:

Edit: I agree, the Red one is much faster than the white one :lol:
 
Ok, got some splits, and yea, I got a 1'20.xxx T2. I still don't have the New York track figured out at 100% yet. So if I get a chance to do a few laps tonight, it will be more of a track recognition run than anything else. Going to put up my replay for Race 2 later on tonight, again with Chinese version of Prologue. Btw, just kidding about that T2 of course! :lol:

I know the New York track inside out, but I also know your gonna beat me!

I'm 1:29.1 at the moment, but there is a lot of time to be lost or gained on the roundabout bit and the last right hand corner b4 start finish.

Have you seen Flinx's replay of lesson 13...its an eye opener :scared:

I'd love to see your replay, damm compatability issue :grumpy:
 
Flinx is EXTREMELY fast :scared::crazy: , I think I might have placed better than him once ( if ever ) in a GT3 comp last year. So if you think I'm fast, there are others out there that can put me in my place! :lol:

Hmm if this keeps up, I might give in to the temptation of going and buy a new video card with video in, and putting some replays on ftp... :trouble:

I said u were a robot, but you've passed the "Alan Turing" test twice now ;)

On Flinx's replay...I was quicker up to the second 90 degree bend...(only coz he set off on the rev limilter instead of 6000rpm) then he just flew by :D

just got in a nice mid 1,28 (which i think is pretty quick but who knowz) after that i got myself a 10 sec. for hitting the roundabout :ouch:

I haven´t ran this yet, ´cause I got my wheel working on PC and DTM was calling my name.

Today I´ll start the work.

Interesting Combo...I hope to get a chance to run this sometime this week....looks like it'll need more than a sunday afternnon session :)
 
Ok. After my first session I got T2 ´1'29.9 so there is much more work to do.
The car is extremely fun to drive, but hard to drive fast ´cause of the tires. That´s one of the reasons I picked this combo.

And I watched the replay of my run, I noticed that the combo is pure eyecandy :drool:
 
ok, i´ve got my average 1,28´s now but i´m not sure about they fastest way through that roundabout.
i agree with you RSC´ watching those replays is very fun. i think i´ll go and put in some 5 lappers against the ai just to look at them longer :)
 
Quickest I've been is 1'27.8xx but I messed up at the roundabout ( hit ), but I average low 1'28s now.
 
I think the guy in the dealership saw me coming when he sold me the 240ZG.

What an unpredictable, underpowered, unforgiving, pile of rusty nuts :yuck:

I'm hating it! I had a T2 1:29.1 yesterday, put some laps in just now, all of them rubbish! I was 2 secs off my own pace...

Just about to pack it in, and then I do T2 1:28.0 👍

I've no idea what I did different, I will have to watch my replay.

The one wheel spinning up is getting to me...why does it carry on spinning during a gear change, surely there is no power going to it... :confused:
 
After my first attempt T2: 1'30.480
 
Did about 5 attempts and got my T2 into the high 1:29s,
but man this thing is a 🤬 beast!

I agree with Tacet, there is something a little weird with this car. :odd:
I have driven a similar 240Z in real life, and this one is not even close. 👎

Looks like I had better roll up my sleeves, I got some catching up to do on this one.
