Is it possible? With a VGA cable or so?..

I would like to connect my macbook to my PS3... :)

Any suggestions? đź’ˇ
 
To try one of the 20 places to next round of GT academy...

I've been studying away from home and just played PS3 on 2 weekends.

I am just wondering if that's possible.

i'll go to another place next week and i want to take my ps3 with me to play GTa.
 
It is possible, but only if you have a laptop with a video card that has a video input built into it. I am pretty sure that video input on laptops is VERY VERY rare so the odds are slim that you have a laptop with that option!

Why not spend a little bit of money on a cheap 19 inch monitor with hdmi input... thats what I did so that I could play when I am travelling.

Doesn't even need to be a hdmi monitor as i think you could use hdmi to vga cable :)
 
Buy a cheap TV. It doesn't even have to be HD, as I believe the PS3 came with cables for SD tv's. Obviously HD is preferable.
 
I have an old Gateway laptop, can't remember the model but it has a 15.4" screen. That has video in and I used to play my PS2 on it back in the day while I worked away from home. That was like 10+ years ago and every other laptop I've ever had doesn't have TV in.....BUT.....you can buy laptop TV tuner cards with video inputs so that might be worth investigating?

This is a good idea, but you can buy a monitor for a heck of a lot cheaper nowadays.
 
You could use one of those cheap USB capture sticks off eBay? Think about ÂŁ10-15 if I remember rightly?
 
Yep, there are special cables available so you can use a laptop as a display for a PS3. I have a colleague who works the night shift and brings in his PS3 and laptop for the all-nighters :)

EDIT: just talked to him, it was a video capture cable, may need software with it as well

You mean HDMI to DVI.
I've never hooked my PS3 to a TV since I don't have one.
I've used my PC monitors from day one.
 
When you use a capture card, you transfer the image to your PC so somehow you might be able to do it with those sort of cables.
 
There are a number of ways. But if your laptop doesn't have any sort of video input your only solutions lead to poor video quality or very high cost, at which point it actually becomes more beneficial to buy a basic HDTV/Monitor.

Its not possible to play anything that is on a blu-ray enabled disc. Same thing happens when you try it on a PsP. For some reason they have made it so that you can not access or Remote Play anything that is Blu Ray related.

wow, didn't realize i could do this. regardless of if it works with GT5, still good to know for other games that do support remote play.

oooh, i can use my vaio keyboard over bluetooth to control the ps3 as well.. neat.
