Who is this we? Must poeple belevie everything they read? Not one source and this apparently came from an "analsyt". I really hate these guys.

Edit: I've seen reporyts that Armord Core 4 crashed a few times and the system needed a reboot, but that wa armored Core.

It's just common sense. Console are compact compare to a PC. The GPU & CPU run at a very fast clock.

I told that way before. Faster clock= hotter.

Heat

For other uses, see Heat (disambiguation).

Energy Portal
In physics, heat, symbolized by Q, is defined as energy in transit.[1] Generally, heat is a form of energy transfer associated with the different motions of atoms, molecules and other particles that comprise matter when it is hot and when it is cold. High temperature bodies from which there will often be high heat transfer can be created by chemical reactions (such as burning), nuclear reactions (such as fusion taking place inside the Sun), electromagnetic dissipation (as in electric stoves), or mechanical dissipation (such as friction). Heat can be transferred between objects by radiation, conduction and convection. Temperature, defined as the measure of an object to spontaneously give up energy, is used as a measure of the internal energy or enthalpy, that is the level of elementary motion giving rise to heat transfer. Heat can only be transferred between objects, or areas within an object, with different temperatures (as given by the zeroth law of thermodynamics, and then, in the absence of work, only in the direction of the colder body (as per the second law of thermodynamics).

The only console that won't have heat Issue is the Wii. Coz the clock speed is lower.

I had heat issue with my PC. Now I run two 120mm & one 80mm in my PC case. the temperature lowered to 10 degree, but on work, it remain closer to the idle temperature.

Though, it doesn't mean anything, cause booth tend to put the console in a closed box. so the hot air don't go out of the box. In a house it won't overheat if the temperature is adequate inside the room.

Heh, looks like PSP browser was/is PS3's beta, I don't mind the layout but not that colour (which Im sure we can change). :)

That earlier YT video I posted above (no longer available) showed the background color in blue. So, yeah, it looks like we can change it.

A little real life story:
During graphic desgin class last night, I showed the guy next to me the article on PS3 magazine website about the PS3 (He's a friend of mine)
Me: hey look, they say the PS3 run very quietly
Dude: wow, that's cool
Me: how about your 360, does it make any noise?
Dude (smile and shake his head): ohhh, yeahhh, It's very noisy
me: How about the power adapter, is it hot?
Dude: Yeah...yeah...It's hot.
me: (with joking face) Put a fan next to your 360
Dude: I did man

Note that he will also try to get the PS3, and unlike me, He likes both 360 and the PS3.:sly:

***By the way, PS3 event confirmed for October 19, Hopefully, we'll see or hear some more goodies before the launch.

Xbox 360 was orginally meant to be watercooled using a closed circuit system...(like the G5 Apple) but that was dropped due to cost and time... instead they put a pathetic heatpipe heatsink (which isnt even copper) and a few fans that are stupidly loud!

The PS3 if it runs quiet as they claim may well be water (or liquid cooled) or will use larger fans running slower. Whatever it is you need copper to make it silent...... fingers crossed it doesnt have overheating problems.....

p.s. As for the PS3 controller I think it looks really cool..... I definately want one! but I think the PS2 one may have looked a little better.....this one should have ideally been gloss black. The memory card adapter is stupid because you will have to buy it just to transfer the stuff once onto the HD so you just need to by one and share it with everyone (yes im so poor I dont wana pay even £10 for it!)

you don't need to buy it, lol. Me and my friends will be splitting the cost between four of us, so it won't be an issue. Once you use it, there's no more reason to have it.

1. If the controller was gloss black, there'd be too many fingerprints visible.

2. If you can afford to fork out $600 for a PS3, you can afford to fork out a few dollars for the memory card adapter. Besides, it's still a ton better than the 360's "backward compatibility".

Early Playstation controller was glossy. Though they weren't comfortable during long time of gameplay.

I dont think the memory card adapter will be widly available. It may see limited release and then it will be based on demand. kinda like how sony shipped out only a few Network adapters at first.

YES I know what all are going to think after reading this post, "BS" But a Few weeks before TGS My friend who Use to work at Factor5 in Austin Tx Rang me up and told me about lair and what it would look like, I told him "sounds cool" and brushed it off my shoulders because for one i thought he was just blabbing his gums, Then TGS came around and at that time no one Knew anything about what type of Game Lair was except that it had dragons and riders.Any who Long story Short He was dead on exactly right on what kind of game it was and everything, so where does this link into killzone? Well He called me a again today this time he was in Cali hanging out with some former "LostBoys" Developers, who merge with "Guerrilla games" back in 2000, well he was franticly trying to speak into the phone he kept on Laughing and saying "OMG OMG KILLZONE", any who another Long Story short, He apparently had got to see some of the game, and he told me that they plan to show the game sometime in OCT after Killzone Liberation has released on the psp, and he said to date he has not seen anything like this, "The game is 99.99% up to par with the 2005 e3 trailer, if not better, there is a volumetric atmosphere, and when something gets blown away, or a rocket is fired a trail of volumetric smoke follows it that you cannot believe,-" any who he seemed pretty pumped about the whole thing, also he mentioned game makes him really feel as though he watching a movie, as far as how the characters interact and plead for help when they get wounded or how they get mowed down by enemy fire, he says it's very eiry. okay well go ahead and disclaim everything i said, but note i don't post often and all of my post have been good ones, no lies, just wanted to shed some light, oh and the October 25 is just a guess, also my friend "Mr.Nash" is pretty trustworthy. so whatever.

I don't know if this is true or not, guys?:)
Looking at R:FOM, Motorstorm ,lair, MGS4...i think I can get my hope up:sly:

...wounded or how they get mowed down by enemy fire, he says it's very eiry...
I remeber Insomniac talking about this is R:FOM.....they said that its sort of a "point ragdoll" physics, that when the AI gets hit by a round the engine uses ragdoll-like physics starting at the point of where the round hits the unit, then the same throughout the body. This does look very very eerie in TGS gameplay when the freindly AI gets hit in the stomach and sort of slumps down and falls. Kilzone will be very cool if like what he said, I know from the first game the atmosphere was incredable, and very beliveable.

Quote from Kenji's Post
The disc / power button is not an actual button. It's a thermo sensor that senses finger temperature.
Now that is badass.

This, however...

...is scary. I'm surprised it doesn't come with a cannon that shoots out rubber balls. :scared:

I have my fat PS2 right in front of me, and I think the size of the PS3 is not that bad (Are we complaining about the size now, lol) Moreover, they have built in power supply, so extra space is needed there, and more space = less chance to get overheat.

True. But even still...

the the bigger it is, the more likely it will get noticed by your guests, and you can see their jealous faces when stepping out the door.  :banghead:  🤬

So may be the PS3 comes with a cannon that shoots rubber balls is not a bad idea at all, it may save your life there.

O.k., I have translated the subtitles in english. i have skipped some that is already known.

the only difference in appereance between the two is the silver line of a 60gb

a temperature sensor system is used for power and roms
the leds below has three stages of ilumination. when it is in stanby, it is red. then it becomes green when the system is powered on. Finally, a led on the left lits blue when a rome is inserted.

ventilation is on the sides and top.

you can sense the size of ps3 if you compare it with ps2. it definitely got bigger but the feel of luxary and substance from the digital device feels right on.

P button is used for connection and authroization with the sytem for a wireless mode.

the words, 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p tell user where their controllers are allocated.

the controller can be connected by a usb, and the usb cable charges the battery.

the above in the pic is "dual shock2", and the below is "sixaxis". it hasn't changed much but it is much lighter since it does not have a dual shock function.

the left is dual shock and the right sixaxis. the shapes of R2 and L2 are changed.

jeeze...you guy's get mad if it's hot, and now you're complaining because it's too big? What is it with you guy's and stupid miniscule details that have absolutely no effect on the gameplay and video ouput?

Who cares if it's "big"? It's like that to be effecient, so it can fit all the hardware, be silent, and avoid overheating problems. Seriously....

Was I complaining? All I said was that the size was "scary". If I were complaining I would've said "dude that is just way too big and impracticle, Sony needs to get their act together". But I didn't.

Personally, I have no issue with the size, and it looks like it is only about an inch wider (or taller on end) than the standard PS2, but a good deal deeper.

The issue I have with the 'football' shaped chassis of the PS3 is that it doesn't look like it will be able to accomodate a properly sealed custom face plate for use with my equipment rack.

I want to use it in my equipment rack for the additional cooling system and soundproofing it offers, but it has to have a custom face plate to seal the front so that the fans in the rack can properly draw all the heat out the back and top of the rack and up to the atic. A seal mount is also beneficial for reducing any opperational sounds emitting from the equipment.

I can see why some like the look of the rounded chassis, but in a rack, its asthetics are unnoticeable, and without an evenly flat front face, it isn't going to be very rack friendly.

Well, just like the PS2 eventually slimmed down, I'm sure thePS3 will do the same after a few years.
