Whats up with the backround downloading? On two different occasions I have clicked it only to find later that it didn't download while I was watching a movie.

I always check to see that its actually queued or starting in download management from the XMB before leaving it to make extra sure. As for it not working thats really odd, have you got enough space on your HDD, it could be your net connection to the PS3 or something else using it???

It was at 41% when I started watching the movie so I know that wasn't the issue. I have a few week old 80g so I know it's not drive space, and it's the only thing hooked up to my cable modem at the moment. I'll tinker with it tonight and see if I can narrow down what causes it to stop the download.

Apparently, even though PS3s and PS3 games are not region-encoded, I can't play my NTSC (J and U/C) PS2 games on my "PAL" PS3.

Grrr. Grrrrrrr, rarrrrr, grrrr.

Famine - Could that be because PS2 games are region-encoded? I don't know for sure, just one deduction/guess. :dunce:
Oh wait, are you putting them with the label side up? j/k

Hey, just got me one of those HUGE work units on F@H. When I saw it this morning, it was 3.68% completed, and ET to finish was of 1d13h15m. :scared:

Quite, but the PS3 isn't...

'Cept for BluRay discs, obviously.

I know so damn annoying! :grumpy: I have 3 systems now!

An NTSC PS2 to play my JPN games

A PAL PS2 to play my UK games

and an NTSC PS3 which can play my JPN NTSC PS2 games but not my PAL!

ARG! Stop with the region encoding already Sony and make it play PS2 region free, its the end of its life cycle anyway so it doesn't make a scrap of difference!

I'm fairly certain that DL is supposed to stop during movies for whatever reason, though I don't think it stops during PS3 games

Ahh but not all BluRay discs are region coded, quite a few are region free (goes and admires Blade Runner 5 disc Ultimate Edition), and given the current exchange rate US BluRays are a worthwhile option.

It is indeed and given the price quite a bargain as well, its also one of the single best BR releases yet in terms of both picture and sound quality. As a huge Blade Runner fan having all the versions of the film was too much of a draw, particularly the Work Print, but the Final Cut version is just so well done its stunning.

You should be able to play it fine. Just look at all the guys on here who imported a japanese GT5P.

I told myself I wasn't going to do it but I pre-ordered GT5 Prologue today, I just hope it's worth $40...damn impulse buying.

I'm still waiting for the EU release. Getting impacient, but waiting.

Anyone tried the GRAW 2 demo? I really liked it, has some really cool stuff and visuals are well done.
Of course, if CoD4 wasn't so damn good, GRAW2 would look just awesome.
Only thing I don't like is the aiming, it's very unnatural and hard to get the hang of. But sniping is awesome, too bad it barely has any gore, even with the 'blood option' turned on.

Do you guys think that it would be wise to rent CoD4 before I buy it? I don't really have many shooting games and I'm not 100% sure if I will like it or not..Or should I buy it then if I don't like it flog it on ebay?

I was the same as you, i have very few games other than racing ones but since I got COD4 i havent played any of them. You wont be dissapointed, IMO dont waste money on renting it. But be warned it is HIGHLY addictive!

I would buy it, its all I play now! GT5P has taken a backseat (mostly due to the rubbish online system).

You could probably buy COD4 off ebay now for a bit cheaper..

But it depends if you going to like that kind of genre, I was never into FPS until I bought GRAW2... now im kind of casually into it!

Depending on how your computer is I would recommend it for the PC before anything, it looks quite a bit better depending on your graphics card. I recently upgraded to a GeForce 8800 and the game looks awesome!

The story line is kind of on the short side, but the multi player feature is pretty good. A lot of people are saying it's better than Halo.

one shooting game i don't really like right now is Kane & Lynch. just a product of impulse buying. the graphics and the scenery are nice, but the camera in the game and the aiming and all that are so hard to get used to. only played it once and it made me dizzy.
don't know if it's just me not being used to the camera moving around so fast or it's just really the game making me dizzy. blood and gore are pretty good for a shooting game though, and the multiplayer online mode seems like a good idea, though i never tried it yet.

A reviewer got fired at gamespot for giving it a really poor review, said it was bad in almost every way... I tried the demo and it was literally unplayable! :yuck:

I own GRAW2 and have played through the campaign twice, once on normal and once on the hard setting. I really enjoyed the game and would recommend it if you can find it for a good price (i.e. nothing too expensive). I spent most of my campaign life using a sniper rifle, with the Mk14 EBR (seriously modified Mk14 assault rifle) being used once it became available, though I still tended towards a sniper rifle.

The aiming gets better once you use it some more, though the transition was probably a little easier for me considering I had played GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas a bunch before GRAW2.

I have GRAW2 was the first game I got with the PS3 (it was the games launch day!) and its a great game and was a good first FPS choice for me, prepared me quite well for COD4 although GRAW is more stealthy than open warfare.

The graphics are really nice (in the demo its slightly worse) and the storyline is quite engaging, well worth buying especially now as the price has probably come down slightly. It also uses sixaxis also which it good if you learn how to use it right.

Online is also good but no were near as impressive as COD4, its a bit slow and the graphics are downgraded quite a bit but its still loads of fun, less serious than COD.

I got my 5 free Blu-Rays in the mail today.

Superman
Pirates of the Caribbean (2-Disc Set)
Flight of the Phoenix
The Patriot (Extended Cut)
Stir of Echoes

Now I just have to wait for the TV to come. (not free)

anyone ever tried the game "Time Crisis 4" ? i'm thinking of picking it up, it's usually for sale here @ $79.99 with a gun thingy, and then just the disc at $49.99. i remember playing it at the arcade, and the graphics are stunning.
