OK folks, I'm sure we all remember what happened with the PS2 on launch. Those who didn't preorder it in February, like me, were left to wait in the cold for one, or, even worse, didn't get one.

So let's not repeat the same mistakes.

This club is established April 24, 2006 at 5:42 eastern standard time to give info on who is taking preorders as well as to list those who have got a preorder.

I am #2 on the local Gamestop's preorder 'call list'. When they start taking preorders they said they will call me. They will do so only for a couple of days to prevent shortage. They said they have not taken preorders yet because they do not know the price. I am 100% sure they will unveil the price at E3 in May. So save up your $50 now to preorder it in May.

To be a member you must preorder the PS3. Also list any games or extras PS3 related that you have preordered. Thanks.

I've been debating this, and I think I'll stick with my initial decision to preorder. I don't doubt that there will be some game I'd love to have at launch so I'll go ahead and bite the credit bullet.

The question is, who is the most reliable retailer to give money to in hopes of getting a PS3 at launch day. EB Games? Best Buy? Sears? Game Stop? Wal*Mart? Toys R Us?

By experience, who has the best record, or the most reliable?

Though, some of the stores I mentioned don't actually take money for preorders, they could for the PS3. You never know.

I will cancel out Wal*Mart and Toys R Us. Wal*Mart lied to me about getting MGS3 in a timely manner, so they can't be trusted. I've heard of the bad tales about Toys R Us, so no need to consider them at all, despite they're the first to take paid preorders for the PS3.

I used EB Games for MGS3:S, and it took ten days after the release date for me to get it, but at least I got it.

Any others?

Dont forget British games shops, (EB Games = Game in the UK) and Gamestation.

Gamestation were very good for us with the PS2, they took the pre-order then got Sony to pop through to the store & organised a lock-in with the pre-orderes with 5 PS2's weeks before release with all the launch games so we could see what we could get, so I guess as soon as they start taking pre-orders at Gamestation I will put my name down.

PS, yes we did get our PS2 on launch day.

I trust Gamestop with this VERY important issue. I know they are willing to stay open to midnight etc. They stayed open 2 hours after the mall closed waiting for the delivery guy to bring us Madden 2005. Heck, they even through a party, with chicken wings and Pepsi!

I don't have Game Stop.... But i could care less about them, i got EB and the people that own it, are coolest people i know :) they have never let me down.

Game Stop is owned by EB Games. Or, it's the other way around. Whatever.

I hope they do the preorders right. Like, find out how many PS3 units they'll be receiving for launch, then taking preorders for that amount, plus 20%. I'm sure not all preoders will be honored by both parties, so I understand the need to oversell the preorder amount.

Like I said before, they should make the preorder amount at least $100 bucks to weed-out those not serious about preordering. The list should be first come, first severed.

EB Games is owned by GameStop, and GameStop has a new policy where they are not "required" to "honor" all reserves.

Screwed up right?

Well here's the great part, employee's have been told to "tell customers we just didn't get enough copies in" or "tell them we don't have enough units". But if a customer comes in and says "do you have such and such" we were instructed to just sell it to them and tell the preorder that we ran out.

Which is another reason why I quit the job, after cursing out the District Manager and telling him their coperate business model is trash, and sending complaint letters to corporate, I soon put in my two weeks, of course I was let go a week before that was up. Go GameStop.

Nice company policy. After all, it's the employees that get yelled at, not the greedy assholes who make up such ridiculous business policies. So, it's all gained money for them, and to hell what happens to the employees.

GameStop is pretty bad. I went there for the GT4 launch, and the idiot manager showed up half an hour AFTER the store was supposed to open, and showed up totally hungover. I complained to the corporate office, and they never acknowledge my complaint. I never went back to the store to see if that idiot still worked there.

Well, I guess that takes GameStop off the list. Well, for me, at least. I'm sure there are GameStops across America that are better than the crap we have here in SoCal. But, you should note their company policy.

Again, I remember reading tons of complaints in the newspaper from people who prepaid, some in full, for a PS2 and never got one at launch. I wish I kept that story to see who those stores were.

I must admit I never had a problem getting my PS2 (on the UK launch date), but if it does make the November launch its going to be a lot more hectic due to Christmas.

Still I now know that I should have the money well before the launch so I am a definate to get one.

👍

I am most likey to pre-order from either of these 4:

Argos
Game
GameStation
Play.com (Back up this time, not pre-ordering a console from them first this time)

No. I posted this story yesterday. It came from a guy who posted this story at a different website. He got the story from a XBox fan site. I should've known not to trust it, but didn't know a XBox fan started this rumor.

I just got the PSM issue in question, and the release price and date is listed very briefly and is listed as a "Possibility." It's just some XBox fanboy starting trouble.

Their policys make me sick, good on ya going against it 👍

Gamestop is the best place to go ahead and get it from, I got my PS2 on launch date from there. I recently put some money down, I think I was number 3 or 4, but I have no intentions of actually playing the damn thing, I'm just going to turn around and sell it making a nice little profit. I personally do not like the PS3 nor would want to have one, but supply and demand tells me that there will be people paying a few extra bucks to have one.

I heard you the first time and guess what? It's called making money, there is nothing illegal with it and I did the same thing with the 360, bought it for 400 bucks and flipped it for 800...although I wish I would have kept it, I actually liked the 360.

It's not cheap, it's personal business, I'll probably buy three or four PS3's when they come out for the very reason that people are willing to pay so much more for these things once the first batch are sold out. I'll be keeping one for myself though, however many I buy.

it's gonna happen to you again when you sell your PS3 :sly: Anyway, I am sorry, I shouldn't have called you like that, again, I apologize.:dopey:

At the end of the day, if I can make a months worth of wages by selling 2 or 3 games consoles to people daft enough to pay twice the RRP, why not do it? I understand that you might think it's stupid that people will pay two, sometimes three times the RRP for a new, but out of stock item like this, but if they're willing to pay that, people will always be ready to capitalise on it.

Learned your lesson eh?

I'll just go to Costco.

No I'm not going to want the PS3, I don't think I really want any games coming out for it.
