I have a theory.

What if it's all a ploy? That maybe MS want people (and SONY) to believe that it's not going to be anything special, then when it's finally launched, they'll unleash something awesome?

I was thinking the same thing. I'd be surprised, if X360 has dished out everything already. ;)

I would buy an Xbox if it could play PC games. I think it is a complete rip how Microsoft can release a console that won't even play some PC games.

Well it's abit silly to judge a whole console on crap marketing, I'll give any machine a chance, and hell, judging by how good the xbox was, the xbox 360 should at least be great fun. Same goes for the PS3. We all know that there will be PLENTY of good games, regardless of the crap they say about mtv and media centers.
 
I think the thread title wins the argument by itself.

Kidding. I prefer PS3, but I don't really care. A console is a console, it's everybody's preference.

Something I have been thinking about lately has been Nintendo and the idea of "mature gaming."

First off, I do not believe Nintendo is for kids alone.
Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4... 'nuff said. :lol:

However, something that takes mature gaming to the next level is the Nintendo Revolution.

Let me ask you all...
Who do you think is more interested in the original Mario Bros. game, the random 12 y/o today or the adult who was 12 when the original mario bros came out?

I believe download-able games from nintendo's history is a bigger selling point for adults than it is for kids.

What do you all think?

Only some of the Nintendo games are for the kids, and I think most of the gamers are aware of that.

I agree with you on the downloadable old-school Nintendo games. I'd think it'll be most popular with 20's-and-over crowd.

Well I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't have bought my original PS2 when I did (Which I later sold and bought another). I'd probably have still bought a PSX though. I can see myself having difficulty choosing my next-gen console :) (Well atleast my first if I decide to buy a second further down the line)

For me it will probably be Forza, PGR, RalliSport, Fable vs. GT, WRC, Getaway, Final Fantasy oh and of course any, God forbid, original titles :lol:

*chuckles*... Guy's got himself a point and a half.

I can tell you that for my gaming purposes and interests, the 360 with its triggers and its sequels to PGR2, RSC2, and Lord knows Forza Motorsport, already has its own space in my entertainment center. I'll have 'em both, but the likelihood that I would even bother with a PS3 before GT5 comes out is almost nill.

Also, when comes to specs, we gotta put things into a practical context. Something tells me PS3 in fact *is* several times more processor-capable than the 360, but the bottom line is how will this translate from paper specs to real games. We all know that is the bottom line.

Tell ya what. I'll leave yutes on this note--> If PS3 were launching next spring with some kind of enhanced GT4--I'd be all over it. But it's not. And for practically this reason alone, it is likely to be years before I'll have any use--let alone need--of a PS3.

sonys ps3 is ridiculously superior to the xbox 360 but there is one bad thing. the ps3 is also going to be kind of pointless to a lot of people at present as a normal tv is going to make a ps3 like a ps2. everyone will need hdtv just to be able to run a ps3 at potential. but i dont see the point in a xbox 360 its only slightly better than a xbox so thats kind of stupid. ps3 is using new technology and is pushing the boundries, its graphics, the size of games and every other aspect are better than xbox 360.
 
Subie, are you seriously trying to tell me that the 360 is technically only SLIGHTLY better then an xbox? HA! Because what you said was so utterly stupid, I'm going to pretend you said it in jest. I loved how you used nothing but speculation and guess work to compare an unreleased console to one that hasn't even been finished yet. Nice one!
 
Yeah I mean the Nintendo Revolution is only 10% more powerful than the NES. :sly: If you have a colour TV you may even get 256 colours!
 
You never like games on the xbox? What happens if it's a PS2 conversion that's been enhanced? Do you not like it then, even if it is better?

During the showing of "Judgment Day" earlier tonight, something was said by one of the co-hosts, Tommy Tallarico. Tommy said this about the XBOX360:

(not direct quote) "...Microsoft is making a big mistake releasing this system this year. It's too early, they've shown basically all the games they wanted to release, it's a big mistake..." -Tommy Tallarico, co-host of G4's "Judgment Day"

Agree or disagree? And does it make any difference if this game system was released to the public before, during, or after the PS3's launch?
 
My opinion is Microsoft have an advantage selling it early because it's out before the PS3 and people will buy it because of that. If it was released after the PS3, not many people might buy it because the PS3 is superior. But the current Xbox is more powerful than the PS2 and the less powerful machine sold much better. Xbox struggled a little and Microsoft had to lower the price to sell it, despite it being the faster machine.

We just have to wait and see IMO.

I agree with your take there, GT. I see more X360 selling if they beat(and most likely will) PS3 launch date. If both consoles goes on sale at the same time or PS3 goes on sale before X360, I see PS3's total domination, just like the PS2 vs. Xbox. At least in the first year anyway. :)

I had a Dreamcast and played it on a CRT moniter. The graphics looked ahead of it's time on it. 👍

MS should wait until Bungie releases Halo 3. That's what MS is relying on Halo and Xbox Live.

Gates Told Off Over Halo 3 Leak

Another ROFL comment by conan calling the gear shifter the "ConeBone" :lol: after that Conzy pops the trunk and there was like a bee hive in there? :lol: :lol: :lol: but my favorite part was the random ass italian guy on the street who kicked Conzy's butt. LOL one of my favorite episodes.

Without competition the games industry would slow down alot. Hope you like slow incremental sequels ;)

Not to say I don't like competition, but I feel that the industry right now is so "competition driven" that titles are being pushed out just for the sake to beat out others.

I would rather companies take time (like God of War, took 3 years) to put out quality games, rather than push out sequals that suck (DMC2...then we wait two years and get a golden classic with DMC3).

Do you see what I mean? I mean, everyone was so "excited" about Halo 2, when in reality it's nothing short of a rehash with a few extra's, just like a huge abundance of sequals.

I for one, do not mind waiting, it assures me of two things. One, there is time and effort being put into the sequal, even if I don't like it, it'll have something new and interesting. Two, I'm going feel that the series is long lived, rather than see a sequal every year and I'm forced to feel the series is being rushed and will end soon.
 
You know, I would wet myself with laughter if the PS3 turned out to be a complete disaster of a console, I really would. The look on all these people that say "ZOMG!! PS3 R T3H RUL3Z0R AND T3H XB0X R CR8P!!" would really make my day.

And before you start making stupid comments, just remember the Atari Jaguar and Nintendo 64. It COULD happen.
