You love people who lie, I love people who make things up for the heck of it. No Killzone 2 did not run on a 1GB RAM system, it ran on similar specs to what the PS3's are.

If you're going to stat making claims that the demo's were running on far more powerful machines than the PS3 will be back them up with facts, provide a source or something. As fotr that info about the XB360 suddenly having 2 512 RAM's popped in wtf man, it's out THIS year, Microsoft have already given out it's specs, they arn't changing, neither are the PS3's, the PS3 is the more poweful system.

Sounds like a good idea. Now that we're back into "reality" mode, prove to us that XB and the PS3 dev kits have 1GB memory.

i'd have to agree with juice being completely out of line and such, but a decent amount of comments in this thread are wrong. one example is the x360 has about 1 Tflop in cpu performance, while the ps3 has about 200-300 gflops(218 i think) and its gpu is huge. the x360 doesn't even include its gpu.

Actually, read it again.. PS3 runs at approximately 2TFLOPS, twice as many as XB360.

the bottom line of the quote, but i'm not sure about the x360's cpus alone being 1 Tflop. of course you may not have caught that i said cpu excluding gpu.
 
Actually, I wasn't able to find specifications for XB's processor alone in regards to FLOPS (I only looked for a few minutes). The 1 TFLOP number is listed as "Overall System Floating Point Performance" from the official site, so that would seem to include their GPU as well.

Although the graph isn't clear on exactly what they're measuring, even Microsoft's "comparison" shows that PS3's CPU has almost double the FLOPS power of XB360's CPU:

The number of "1" for the PS3 doesn't make much sense, but there it is.
 
I can tell you Sony have said the PS3 does 2TFLOPS, I've seen it so many times and thats what they said during the press conference. Not sure about the quote, are you sure it's not out of context or not talking about a certain part of it doing 218 GFLOPS.

The 218 GFLOPS is for the Cell only. Judging by the graph that Microsoft made in their "comparison", the XB360's CPU will have roughly 120 GFLOPS.

Overall system performance, including GPU:

XB360 = approximately 1 TFLOPS
PS3 = approximately 2 TFLOPS

Nope. I think Xbox 360 will be unstoppable.

I do not think that Microsoft can own Sony this time round in hardware, looks, and performance.

This means they will both succeed.

Yutes people who are dreaming otherwise, thinking one or the other might actually FAIL in the coming generation need to, well, you need to quit on it. :yuck:

Depends on how you define "fail". Microsoft is out to kill Sony.. they won't be happy unless they can become the dominant console next-gen the way Sony has been for two generations running. In that endeavour, they will indeed fail. At that point, it will be up to the board of directors to decide if they should keep trying. They want to be at the top.. they don't want to be "good enough". And if all they can be is second-best, it's likely MS will eventually drop out of the race altogether. It's far too early to tell if it will happen with this next generation of systems, though.

Really, my post was to remind everyone of the folly of dichotomous thinking. You know - win/lose; black/white. The truth of the matter is that there is cavernous room in the world market for two major players (now that Nintendo has all but relegated itself to a narrower base). I also think you are grossly oversimplifying Microsoft the corporation's vision and practical business goals. The future is in digital entertainment. Everyone at this point knows that. As such, I think it is just silly to suggest that Microsoft would "give up and quit" if it can't be a leading player. Doesn't mean they won't try to crush their competition.

But come on now, "drop out"? LOL.. nahh.

I was only repeating what Allard said.. hehe. I'm not saying that MS will drop out. I don't know for sure what MS's goals are for the XB project.. only MS knows that. But I think the possibility is there.

With so much life left in the xbox I find it hard to believe that a new system is needed to keep up with the cutting edge of gaming. [...] The one person I know who has Halo2 and a broad-band connection will not buy a 360... Too much money for a new system when there is so much life left in his current xbox. :ouch:

Just a point of note...you can't HAVE a number of FLOPS. Your system can be capable of performing a number of FLOPS. They're not bananas you know ;)

2 Teraflops | ****ing Bull****
Reasons:
1) Sony sayes they can sell a machine that can run faster than - an eightway power5 server that sells for half a million dollars - and sell it for under 1000 dollars? that's just stupid.
2) Use logic, you wil see tha the ps2 would have to be much bigger
3) Sony lied before the release of PS1 and PS2 - you can assure the same for PS3.
4) The specs for xbox360/ps3 are almost identical.
5) There is proof that almost every single game at E3 was rendered. Why? Sony, what do you have to hide?

PS3 Is much better! - No it isnt
Reasons:
1) ****ing fanboys
2) The ps3 controller is gay (****ing boomerang)
3) The ps3 itself looks like my printer.
4) PS3 can support 7 wireless bluetooth controllers (Divide your tv into 7 parts)
5) PS3 Has gay online gaming - online play adds to the replayability factor so you dont get bored of a game after you beat it.
6) PS3 Is using untested and possibly unreliable technology.
7) Come up with a new ****ing name - 4 Systems and they are all Playstations?

Final Statement:

I don't think the playstation 3 sucks - I don't think the xbox360 sucks
I like xbox360 more (obviously) because of xboxlive and multiple other things but neither system sucks, both systems are REALLY good, but don't be fanboys (Xbox sucks, go sony). Both systems have their advantages and both systems can be seriously dissed. In conclusion, STFU, don't ***** until you've played both, dont be fanboys.

WHo cares which is better...in the end, the winner is us..we get them trying to out-do eachother with games like HALO2, GT4, Forza, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Ninja Gaiden and Definatly more in the future... WE Are the ones who come out on top with all those fun high quality games...Only thing i hope is that each system isnt like the launch of the current generation...If you got a launch system you got a system that died within a year an a half due to dre's for ps2 an dirty disc errors for xbox...I love both systems, Actually i love all 3 but feel kinda sorry for nintendo because the gamecube has very few killer apps...an the ones that it DOES have get brought over to the ps2...I'll probably end up buying all 3 systems...

OK, so she drives with a suspended license. Most likely because of a DUI. She ignores several of the cops legitimate commands. She strikes an officer when he tries to do his job. She ignores the at least four warnings she'd get tased if she doesn't follow his orders. Then, like a typical ignorant "minority" in the US, she has to play the race card when she finally gets tased. To bad somebody didn't tell you, lady. Playing the race card will no longer get you anywhere.

Yeah, the cop made a mistake that day. The cop should've shot her with his real gun and not the taser. One less ignorant, race-card-playing jackass would make this a better place to live.
