Duo.Maxwell, I agree fanboy's are stupid and both consoles will be great, but that post was insanely retarded. Everything you said was either false, speculation or has nothing to with how good/bad the cosole will perform.
 
I wonder what the system would have been named if they didnt use PS3 again. I hope the get a little more creative with thier 4th gen.

Rants on PS3:
2 Teraflops | ****ing Bull****
Reasons:
1) Sony sayes they can sell a machine that can run faster than - an eightway power5 server that sells for half a million dollars - and sell it for under 1000 dollars? that's just stupid.
2) Use logic, you wil see tha the ps2 would have to be much bigger
3) Sony lied before the release of PS1 and PS2 - you can assure the same for PS3.
4) The specs for xbox360/ps3 are almost identical.
5) There is proof that almost every single game at E3 was rendered. Why? Sony, what do you have to hide?

PS3 Is much better! - No it isnt
Reasons:
1) ****ing fanboys
2) The ps3 controller is gay (****ing boomerang)
3) The ps3 itself looks like my printer.
4) PS3 can support 7 wireless bluetooth controllers (Divide your tv into 7 parts)
5) PS3 Has gay online gaming - online play adds to the replayability factor so you dont get bored of a game after you beat it.
6) PS3 Is using untested and possibly unreliable technology.
7) Come up with a new ****ing name - 4 Systems and they are all Playstations?

Final Statement:

I don't think the playstation 3 sucks - I don't think the xbox360 sucks
I like xbox360 more (obviously) because of xboxlive and multiple other things but neither system sucks, both systems are REALLY good, but don't be fanboys (Xbox sucks, go sony). Both systems have their advantages and both systems can be seriously dissed. In conclusion, STFU, don't ***** until you've played both, dont be fanboys.

Oh yea, as far as 2 tflops, it's peak performance.

Don't act like everyone else doesn't do it people, from AMD to Intel, all the way to Microsoft and everyone else who makes hardware. Peak perforamnce is always more appealing, and there fore that is what will always be noted in press releases. Face value and prior experience make you a wise consumer ;)

haha, this thread is a joke now, yay! i do have to agree that the calculations per second are a little crazy and seem a little too high at 2 trillion, but im waiting to see what will really happen. cool, the new blue gene will generate 360 Tflops, which is just plain crazy.

Anyway, 2 tflops is reasonable for peak performance, but again, you never see peak performance while running applications that aren't benchmarks. It is completely up to the developer to reach that point, which is achieveable, but cost vs value is something to be considered.

A lot of people say sony "lies" but they always ALWAYS fail to realise that it is the developer who falls short of what the system is capable of. Sony gave the hardware for PS2, and they, the people who created the console, showed us what it was capable of. They were real time, and on PS2 hardware, however, when it came time to play games, the developers didn't utilize all of the power, thus the games looked less impressive.

When you get a PC video card that's top end, you don't see games that utilize the power it puts out right off the bat, but that does not mean it isn't capable correct? Same goes for console hardware, people tend to be more demanding of consoles, for god knows what reason, but they never completely think things through, society always looks for a scape goat, because we are too ignorant to see the truth.

you had quite an interesting point, tha_con, about system maxing and such. If the ps3 would be real hard to program(which it prolly won't be) since it is new technology, and the power pc cores in the x360 is older and familar, the x360 could in reality be better(most of this is what ifs). I'm also thinking of how M$ is requiring 720p/1080i and 5.1 and sony might not, making some games not look as pretty.
 
What does that mean for pal users if all games have to be 720p/1080i+4xaa. From what I read HDtV's are not as wide spread as it is in Jpn and Usa. I Think it should be a mode and not standard. 480i with 6x AA should be standard for NTSC

Just because the game CAN support high-definition formats doesn't mean it HAS to. You'll still be able to play any game you want in 480i.

PSM has reported that most games will be in 720 progressive. It's not yet known if anybody is working on a 1080i or 1080p game yet. All games will come with a 480i version for non-HDTV set owners. It seems pointess to do so, but oh well. If anybody buys a PS3, they should own a HDTV or a digital ready set by then.

If you're going to own a Ps3, you should own a HD? yeah..I'm sure every 11 year old out there that is going to get one is going to convince his parents to buy him a HDTV just for his Ps3......yeeaah
 
This sounds very much like the "VHS will totally vanish when DVD is out" argument. Oh look, VHS is still used. Most people can't afford to chuck out perfectly good TV sets just so they can get better picture quality, that most probably wouldn't even notice anyway. HD TV will take YEARS to fully phase in.

I'll be sticking with my NON HD TV for 2 simple reasons, it's a great set (21" sony trinitron), and being a student I can not afford a £1500 TV set. It would be a total waste of what little money I have.

Driftster and Kev, I completely agree, most people by late next year will still have the same TV sets they have now, HDTV's will still cost an bomb compared to other TV sets by then as well, it will be a few years yet before HDTV's take over in popularity and even when they do it will be a while before there are so few standard TV's you can dissregard them.

Just imagine it, you spend £300-500 on a console and games, and you get it home to find your TV isn't expensive enough...

I wouldn't put it past Sony to make a system that ONLY works on SONY tv's by first party game designers.....In a house with a outlet with a SONY Cover on it......using SONY power cables, that goes to a SONY transformer out in wichetaw kansas
 
I'm not supporting the "pointless to support non-highdef" argument, but in the U.S., they will switch to HDTV broadcast in a few years. As far as the TV broadcasts go, analog television will be obsolete. I wonder if Japan or Europe is headed the same way?

Please, use your brain.

Why should Sony allow and support people in NA, and the reast of the world, to drag their ass on digital ready TVs and HDTVs? It's stupid to do so! If they have money to buy a 400-500 dollar PS3, which it will most likely cost, then why can't they buy a digital-ready set? Sony has been warning people that the new PS3 is going to pricey, and that people should consider buying a new TV set along with it to take advantage of its HDTV capabilities.

So, if people are so poor and can't afford a DR-TV or HDTV set, they how could they afford a PS3? They can easily afford a new TV. They're just too cheap to go out and buy one.

Here this now. To hell with people without at least a DR-TV set!. Seriously, why should Sony, and that really means we the customers of Sony, have to make video games so much more costly, larger and time consuming for a buch of digital TV ass-draggers?

Shut up, you morons, and go buy a new damn television set!
