I'd like to see a US and Europe version of the poll.

Xbox barely sold more software than PSone in Japan this year. North America is a different story all together.

GTChamp2003
C-news has polled 1000 Japanese Internet users regarding to the next generation consoles:

Which next generation console are you looking forward the most?
60% - PlayStation 3
8% - Revolution
2% - Xbox 360
30% - Not interested

Why do you choose PlayStation 3?

-It is a successor of PlayStation 2
-It will have more software
-It is a Sony product
-Realistic graphics
-PS3 is the most powerful
-PS3 has a lot of new technologies (Blu-Ray, etc)

What do you most wanted to play on the new consoles?

80% - Well-known game series (Dragon Quest, Super Mario, etc)
60% - Original / completely new games
35% - Remakes of well-known titles or sequels

How much will you pay for the PlayStation 3?

20%: 15000 - 20000 yen
20%: 20000 - 25000 yen
20%: 25000 - 30000 yen

What game genres would you like to see on next generation consoles?

71.2% - Role Playing
52.8% - Simulation
47.9% - Action
41.1% - Adventure
23.4% - Shooting

Now who said Sony is going to get their *** handed to them by MS?

Whoopidy do..

Look at the #1 reason why it would be bought...

"it's the successor to the PS2"..
That's 100% sheep right there...
Not to mention on XBL I'm an azzhole to foreigners (especially the french) and I'm sure I'm not alone.

They've got pen15 AND console envy

So they polled 1000 idiots?

The reasons given are pure comedy! I notice that none of them are "the games look really good". Ha!

thats typical of the Japanese market though, they disslike the X-Box over there and they love home grown products. That said I'm suprised more didn't vote for the Revolution, I bet that will deliver some of the most entertaining gaming out of the three.
Yes, we hate imports... :ouch: What are you, joking me!? I guess it would be easier for the Xbox fans to just say Japanese consumers are biased towards "home grown" products and that's why Xbox didn't sell in Japan. You have absolutely no idea how much Japanese dig the American and all other imports(obviously you didn't see the thread Max DC created about the long line in Japanese Apple/iPod Store). Make something good, Japanese comsumers will eat it up. Fact is, Xbox had nothing appealing to Japanese gamers. I'm Japanese. When I see the Xbox, I see a PC in a big black box, that you can hook up controllers too. Those great Xbox hits does not appeal to me. Microsoft really got it together last couple of years, especially with releases of few good RPGs, but it was too late to win the hearts of Japanese gamers. Halo sounded interesting, but that was it for me. Forza and Doom are the two additional titles that got me interested, but didn't they both come out, just this year? Again, Japanese biase against Microsoft or Americans had very little to do with failure of Xbox in Japan.

It all came down to the types of games that sell and don't sell in the Japanese market. This is just like back in the 80's, when American automakers got pis*ed at the Japanese for not buying American cars. Before you shove something down our throats, make sure it's something we like.

100% sheep? Just because you want to go with the successor of the system you liked, you're sheep?

What are you talking about? You hate me because I'm from a different country? Right now, feeling is almost mutual. ;)

.100% sheep? Just because you want to go with the successor of the system you liked, you're sheep?

Thats the number one reason I'm getting a PS3. 2 billion polygon versions of games we have now is not one of my reasons.

Number 2 is the technology advantage. MY Xbox has been setting here with Forza in it for 3 months now. Its going to take a killer app for Xbox 360 for me to buy it. The deciding factor may come down to "will Oblivion run on my computer" knowing x360 will walk all over my pc's performance.

No the question should be...

Do I want to play Super Samurai chick in skimpy clothes who defeats the evil american corporation..

Or Ghost Recon 3?

What difference does that make? Both those games suck.

Halo and Halo II both suck, as well.

What XBox only game is a "must have" that warrants the purchase of an XBox? So far, it's none for me.

I still don't see why I still have my XBox. My kids never play the damn thing. So what is so damn special about it?

In all fairness, Ghost Recon 3 looks really good, and you can't really comment on it's "suckiness" until you played it.

Halo and Halo II both suck, as well.

Ahh you obviously don't like decent games!
Abit off topic, I personally enjoyed them, as did about 3 kerzillion other games. Halo 1 infulenced FPS games more then you could ever imagine.

Well it's a matter of opinion. None for you, quite a few for myself. Ninja Gaiden imo made it worth it, quite possibly the best game of this generation. Infact I struggle to think of a PS2 game to match it, though Gods of War is meant to be just as UBER (if abit short if I remember), but I aint played that yet :(. OFC this is where you pretend that NG is crap. ARF ARF!

I still don't see why I still have my XBox. My kids never play the damn thing. So what is so damn special about it?

Well there's nothing that special about it, nor is there anything special about the ps2. Don't like it? Sell it, buy something else.

It appears that Solid really hasn't played through many X box games (If any), which leads me to believe his whole psalm to me about me not playing games through before passing judgment on thems seems like it's 1 leg just got kicked out from under it, what's it standing on now?

PS...
Devil May Cry is still easy, mr lack hand eye

I have to agree with code_kev I never understand why people put the Halo games down, I think they're great, I have a PS2 and an Xbox and both have they're games which are good nothing on the ps2 can match Halo and nothing on the xbox can match Gran turismo 4 and secretly I'm sure you all agree with me

I'm planning to get both consoles when they eventually go down in price and they have some decent games out

Halo may be the best thing since sliced bread, but what if you don't really play FPS games that much? At that point, Xbox becomes very "meh".

I never bought an Xbox, for what I think is a very simple reason: I could never see a reason to do so. I never saw anything on that console that was a "must buy" for me. Most of the games I wanted to play were multiplatform, and I already had a PS2. The few exclusives that XB had, I could find similar titles on PS2... so I could play the same type of game, without having to shell out three hundred bones for a new system. That's the kicker, see.. is it really worth that extra cost? Even now, I'm on a "Must Drive Ferrari" manhunt, and yet Forza simply isn't worth two hundred dollars to play. Sorry, it just ain't.

And, the same thing will probably happen next-gen, too. I already know I'm getting a PS3, and probably a Revolution. But is there anything to make me shell out another three or four hundred bucks for an XBox360? No, not really. Not that I've seen, anyway.

I never play fps games on consoles anyway, PC's are far better for thoes. I was tempted to buy an X-Box to play orza online, but while I was thinking about it I got GTR and nothing stands close to the racing in that, not Forza and not GT4.

I suppose I didn't think about that (people not liking fps) the only reason I bought the xbox is because the price went down to 100 pounds and the only reason a bought a ps2 was becuase I managed to get one for about 180 pounds and got gt3 with it, I guess it comes down to price as well

Geez, you guys love to argue. Here's my 2 cents: PS3 looks much better than anything XboX 360 has to offer yet. But that's really not much to judge anything on, now is it?

Now excuse me while I leave the argument to go play Pong!

Pong is the bees knees, the graphics are better than PS3 and XB360 combined.

Pong proves a very important point about games, it doesn't have to look super to be great.

ok..If you don't play FPS's..

Ninja Gaiden
The Star wars Series
Jade Empire
Forza
PGR
Mercinaries
The Street Series
The Madden Series and 2K series
Fight Night
Tony Hawk Series
Ralli Sport Challenge

Well if you like sports games...Can't beat the X box..
It's got every type of sport and most are multiplayable online.
HUGE plus

You're not going to find a title similar to ninja gaiden i'm sorry..
Tenchu?......Red Shadow? Hah..

Street series? Nope..

And I didn't know this whole debate was about..."I already own 1 system, why buy the other"..
i thought it was games worth buyin the system..

Especially after the "The only thing X box has is Halo, and I don't play FPS's" comment

Well, I don't much like sports games, either. I've got a fair collection of action/adventure games.. MGS, Soul Reaver, etc (God of War, although I haven't got that one yet). And, of course, racing games. We loves our racing games, precioussss. And with GT4, is even Forza worth the cost of a new system? When I can't even use my DFP?

Depending on how much money I've got to throw around, I may end up getting an XB360. But right now, I'm just not seeing anything that's worth it to me.

Actually, truth be told, I haven't really seen much on either system that's really worth it. But I know what will be coming later, which is why I've already decided on buying a PS3. Because I already know I'll have plenty of my favorite games *cough*GranTurismo*cough* to play on it. The decision not to buy a 360 is heavily influenced by the fact that I don't have an Xbox, therefore I have nothing "invested" in Xbox games, I have no "favorites" that I'm looking forward to seeing on 360. That's probably 99% of the early adopters of XB360 right there, are the people who already have an Xbox.

I wouldn't say 99%.

I'd say the people who are wanting a Next Gen Console ASAP make up 15%..I say prior X box owners(That alone being their reason) probably makes up as much a 5 as it will with the PS3...And I say people interested in multiplayer gaming outside of the PC make up the rest....

The X box will be getting sales just because it'll be out sooner, that can't be questioned.

I personally am going to be getting a x box 360 for games like Gears of War, Black, BF2, Far Cry, GR, and Comdemned..

And are any of those games really worth a whole new system? Can I not find similar titles for the systems I already own?

If you can afford it, yes. And yeah ofc you can, but so what? It works both ways, an xbox owner can say "why should I buy a ps2 when I can get similar games for my xbox?". I'll tell you why, because the other machine may have SIMILAR games, but the other machine may have BETTER similar games. For example, the xbox has the best rally game (RSC2), the ps2 has a wider range of Japanese RPGS, blah blah blah. Oh and Ninja Gaiden. Seriously. It alone makes an xbox worth it. I'll also have you know that the xbox has a fine selection of FPS, YES it's not as good as a pc, but it's cool sitting round a telle with your mates fragging each other. Just easier then lanning etc, and just as much fun. Oh and xbox Half Life 2, yes some people don't actually have pcs good enough to run it, so it's nice for them, and it's actually looking half decent. "OMG FPS ON A PAD!!11!! G44444Y!!11!". No, it's perfectly playable.

I will also be getting a 360, why? Because the games look freaking awesome. A great variety of good looking games, so the old "there's nothing I like excuse" is pretty much crap. GR3 looks so damn amazing.

I don't think graphics are a problem here. I think some of you are looking at this as what the PS2 was this generation to the Xbox (insofar as graphics) with the PS3 vs. the Xbox 360. I think what we see now with screenshots is barely touching the surface of what these consoles may be capable of.

Code_kev, while I respect your opinion, I'd appreciate it if you were to be a little more respectful yourself. Though I find it funny an Xbox fanboy is on a thread that discusses the supposed superiority of the yet-to-be-released PS3 (or that is more of my assumption as this is in the PS3 thread section), it's really of no relevance.

What I was saying there (maybe not literally) was that the PS3 has a new cutting-edge chip while the XBox 360 is using a more-or-less modified current technology chip. Maybe I should've clarified that or said it more clearly to begin with.

Well, think of it this way....Go to the Automotive forum and read ANYTHING on the z06 and see how they compare it..
It's not the best car in the world, because there's other things out there better..
But it's the cheapest...Which is why people seem to LOVE it..
"oh my god you get that performance for the lesser price"

The Corvette uses...OLD technology revamped...Look how well it's working for it..
New tech doesn't always mean better..
The Old tech sold well/lasted a while for a reason you know..

Now let's apply that to the 360 vs PS3 debate....Hey..The Ps3 might be able to do some 348927489732838478329microblahs .0003 seconds faster..
But at the end of the day, it's another 100 dollars more if not MORE....

And considering ALOT of the titles I care about are going to be multi platform, then the thing I got to do is look out for MYSELF..

Now if I'm a FPS guy, would I think of getting a PS3? I really doubt it..
if I value multiplayer would I think of getting a ps3? I really doubt it aswell..

You're right...Gt5 is coming out for Ps3..
AWESOME...
I can play it at my friends house, because chances are is it's going to be more hours and hours and HOURS
and HOURS of monotonous humdrum driving in cars I don't like in order to get the cars i want.

You can only revamp technology so much to get good results before you cap off. With computers, that's a considerably shorter time than with most other tech.

I don't think this generation will see the FPS platform (current Xbox) vs. the "other" genres platform (the PS2 and to a degree the GC). I think the Xbox 360 and the PS3 will be on an even keel in regard to the genres available and developed by third-parties.

I seriously hope Nintendo is holding on to some trump card cause right now there isn't much going for them other than a name. And even then it's died in recent years. I WANT to see them pull of a "fast one" and make THEIR console the dark horse win. It'd just be too cool.

Nintendo won't go anywhere because they're still the leader in games that are just "fun" and chances are..Like the gamecube, they'll build it to turn a profit instead of a loss.....

in terms of FPS...
I just really can't see myself playing a FPS with analogs on a set axis....offset works better with hand eye...

No, you said "lol But then again, the Xbox 360 has got all of one chip running a similiar speed?? One?? Way to stay competitive Microsoft."

In other words: "LOLZ MS HAF ONE CHIP!!!!" which means nothing.

If you read the post just above this one you'll notice in the parenthesis I said "maybe not literally" meaning I was trying to get at the point next-gen chip vs. beefed-up current gen chip but didn't mention as such in the original post. Excuse me for making a mistake and not clarifying in two posts.

By the by, quit flaming and post something USEFUL if you're gonna bug someone. Otherwise this'll become the "official RedWolfRacer vs. code_kev thread".
