Well Let put the price thing to rest -
If your in a PAL country your SOL, pretty simple, with value of the Euro vs the Dollar and the fact that to market for overall sales is smaller, why would Sony who would actually make more money in the European market because of its strong currency at the 299 Euro price point?
Sorry but the only way around this (for German and British people) is to go to one of the US PDX stores, buy a PS3 there (actually befriend somebody linked to the military). A Woman I used to date in Germany has a NTSC-U PS2 and NTSC-U TV.... Not a PAL TV and PAL PS2, get it?
Most LCD's don't care what signal you feed it, many are region-free.
NTSC PS3's are region free, so unless there's a Curling game you just have to have or some other game that's specific to your market, you might be better off, coming to America or going down to Australia/NZ (maybe Japan?) to get your PS3.
As I said before one of the FEW perks that remain about being American is STUFF IS CHEAPER, especially electronics and let's not forget many EU countries have VAT....
Engadet has many current PS3 weighing about the slim and its seems most don't like it. To be honest I like the glossy finish of the original units, but Sony had to find another way to bring the price down and the only way to do that is to reduce size.
BC is seemingly less important, mainly because I already have a Slim PS2. But as I stated its about space in here. If I am forced to make yet another console work in here, I can do that, I just rather not. Given the news of the Slim PS3 hasn't had an effect on recently listed used 20gb PS3's, most are still around $300-350.
WiFi isn't that important I have one of the rare Buffalo Ethernet Converters and still have 2 ports open. I don't believe the card readers were being used as much as they thought it would, which is why it might not come back later in a more expensive model.
This might be the only PS3 console until the PS4.
