With every bit of new footage/gameplay, the more I want the release date to be pushed forward.

I think the release date is alright being in May. I don't want a project like this to be rushed out, purely to have it out as early as possible. They need to take their time, which I'm sure they're doing, and have everything in the right place before it hits the shelves.

This really does look incredible though. I remember when I first saw gameplay for this I was instantly drawn in. With each new teaser they bring out, the more that I'm excited for the release. That last video, above, had me nervous just watching. Sneaking about in the dark with those monsters around every corner.

I don't know if I'll want to play this in the dark. :nervous::lol:

1. I didnt even know this game had zombies.
2. The zombies dont notice the light at all?
3. That video reminded me a lot of Manhunt for some reason.

The concept is based on a parasitic "slave" fungus that was recently discovered deep in the jungles of Thailand. The fungus spores latch onto passing ants, and take control of their nervous system, compelling them to move towards sunlight. Once there, there spores stop the ant from moving and begin to take hold; the ant starves to death, whilst the spores are able to grow and reproduce, triggering the cycle again. Very little is actually known about the way this fungus works, but it is believed that it overrides whatever intellect the host creature has, reducing it to something that lives only to respond to the instincts of the spore. Which makes sense, given that it is being controlled by a plant.

The discovery of this fungus is what inspired Naughty Dog to create The Last of Us. The AI is likely modelled on the above principle, with the "pod people" (as they are known) responding only to the stimulus of the fungal infection. If they're not responding to the light, it's probably because they are not even aware of the light. The Last of Us is intended to be a relatively-realistic zombie game, so don't go expecting the ultra-intelligent zombies that you see in other franchises.

As PrisonerMonkeys says, it's a fungal infection so technically not zombies as we know them. However, looking at the effects and results of that infection, the end result is pretty similar.

Look back at the start of the thread, there should be some of the early trailers there where there is more attention paid to the infected. Recent vids have focused more on the human interaction aspect and how to deal with other survivors.

Apparently, there are "rumors" that the game has been delayed until June 20th. Only rumors though as there is no reliable source, just countless threads on the Official forums from the community.

I'm bored of games I'm looking forward to being delayed.

The Last of Us delayed to June 14 worldwide

Neil Druckmann - Creative Director
The Last of Us is an ambitious project. In many ways it may be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious project to date – brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, not to mention it’s easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.

As a team we pride ourselves on setting a very high quality bar for every aspect of our games - gameplay, story, art, design, technology and more. We want to make sure The Last of Us raises that bar even further - for ourselves, and most importantly, our fans.

As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards.

The extra wait will be very short and your patience will be rewarded. Update your calendars. You won’t even have to change seasons. The Last of Us will be available June 14th, 2013. Until then, know that we will be working extremely hard to deliver an experience that matches your high expectations.

Im kinda glad for the delay. No i have more time for other games and i will be on a holiday when that comes out.

There's a new video from Naughty Dog detailing the infected and how they work in the world. I swear, every time I see a new video about this game, I get more excited about it. Loving the focus put in the world, story and characters. Really hope the AI lives up to the amazing things we've seen thus far.

At first when i saw Ellie, i had a feeling i will hate her. But now i have a feeling i will like her. Same thing happened with Elena and Chloe of the Uncharted-series.

Well kid is alright. I didn't like it Chloe, when Elena suddenly appeared i was like :embarrassed: :D

Ahh, Chloe is fine - I always like the characters Claudia Black plays.

Interesting that there will be a demo sometime just before the game lands.
