I still expect to buy the game, mainly because I'm interested in seeing if the AI and story is as great as we've been let to believe. But look at the gaming industry, and tell me that there isn't a problem. And with ND doing a Season Pass like this, they are part of the problem.
Part of what problem ?, they worked on this game for years and it is arguably the most anticipated game of the year based on previews. It probably cost upwards of $100 million US to make and you see all these studios shutting down because their games aren't selling enough. I am not saying that you shouldn't have an opinion on some of the issues within the gaming industry of which there are definitely a few, I am just saying that you should put it a little more into perspective. I just don't really understand where you are coming from ?
The rest of this posts can be treated as a general post as opposed to a response/reply. I'm getting sick of people whining over the season pass for this game......
Lets look at the facts, ND announced a season pass, 3 pieces of DLC, 1 sp and 2 mp, you also get a 90 minute documentary on the making of the game. Notice how vague this information is ? Now when you announce something it doesn't mean you have finished it, hell they could barely be halfway through making the first pack (look at the BioShock Infinite season pass for example, still no content). Now, when you develop a game you spend the last 1-2 months or so polishing it up, bug testing, more QA testing, certification that sort of stuff.
The game has gone gold and will be in stores in two weeks, you really think they would delay the game again in order to shove in more story content that they most probably thought up within the last couple of months when they were within crunch time ?. That is just unreasonable imo. As for the maps, practically every game with multiplayer has multiplayer dlc and the same argument could be used here, they put a bunch of maps in the game and thought up more in the lead-up to going gold with the game. You are not being forced to buy this dlc remember. Also, being one of this year's most anticipated titles, there is a ton of pressure on ND to deliver again and none of this season pass content will have a part in reviews for the game. If ND is confident in their game (which they definitely are) then what consumers/reviewers receive will be a complete experience that won't be limited by a season pass. They want great reception.
I don't know if you read my last post but ND had their first ever game delay with this game, I don't know about you but that tells me they are very serious about making this game the best they can. If the season pass story content was crucial to making this the complete experience and was thought up earlier in development they would have delayed it again. People are going on about how "games should be shipped in their entirety". The game WILL be shipped in it's entirety, you will be getting the original game how ND intended it to be. They know that not everyone will buy the season pass, they aren't stupid. If the dlc was ready early enough, and was good enough to be part of the original game they would have shipped it with the original game so everyone gets the best experience.
I know this doesn't so much apply to these boards but I am sick and tired of seeing people saying "oh guess I'm not buying this game anymore, ND are money hungry blah blah blah". Get a grip. Fine don't buy the game, miss out, if you consider a developer like ND, with a pedigree like their's, to be money hungry and not release complete experiences at launch then I really think you should have a good look at what you are saying.
This can be treated as a statement as it doesn't all apply to this thread, just my honest opinion regard TLOU's season pass.
