I think the ps3 idea of 256 dedicated and the rest shared is better. Because if the 360 gets bogged (that'll be the day) in one area and starts stealing the ram from the other area and that area needs it too............we got a problem.
However, if the ps3 gets bogged in one area and hits it's shared ram limit and still needs more...........we got the same problem.

However I think the problem is less severe in the ps3 case because it makes both suffer a small amount instead of making one suffer massively and the other function properly. Then agian if the 360 starts to make one suffer in favor of the other then in theory it should strike a balance and make the two area's suffer equally. (which is ideal) but that's only if the system is capable of doing it properly. The ps3 is more fool proof imo.

I think that in generall the systems will come out equal on ram and the ps3 will have better processor speed making it the better system.

Mind you I am no computer expert, just my opinion on what I've heard.

Well PS3 will be more sucessful then XBOX360 one because of their reputation. They have very nice titles that are exclusive only to the PlayStation3 console. So far the 360 only has the PGR3 and PDZ going for it but PDZ might not be that good anyway because of a rushed launch title.

You could have said the same when Sega Saturn came out and PS was new on the block. Sega had all these titles and reputation and Sony was only a new comer...... Sony ended up OWNing the market. (I love my Saturn)

When the PS came out what was there?

When the PS2 came out it blew away the xPos.

When the PS3 comes out it will blow away the xPos.

If that doesn't do it then GT5 will take care of the rest.
 
When the PS2 came out, how did it blow away the XB when the XB wasn't out for another year after?
 
I fail to see why you guys don't want MORE good consoles which do well, as this means more competition and more good games. Why brown nose one, and ignore the other? It's like calling zelda crap, simply because it's not on a Playstation.

For the record, I thought the saturn was better then the "HUR HUR GRAYSTATION" (see what I did there vipfreak, about as funny as you "Xpos" thing).
 
The Saturn had some good games for it, but technically it was crap compared to the Playstation. Sega had to make a lot of changes to thier machine after Sony released the PS specs and considering the ammount of work they'd already put into the Saturn there were bits that couldn't be altered, the changes didn't close the gap enough technically.
 
That's what's even funnier about the xPos, that it came out a yr. later and it still didn't phase the PS2. As for other consoles, it's not that great to have others if they are gonna be ****ty or have ****ty games (look at Game cube). I'm also not going to buy two different consoles because it's too damn expensive. I haven't found a reason to get any other console anyway.
 
I'll be getting all 3 of them eventually just like I own all 3 of the main consoles now. i didn not buy them however until this time last year so i've still got lots of games to play.
The PS2 did not blow away the XBOX...the games did. There were some good games on the XBOX but not near enough compared to those for the PS2.

With the XBOX360 being reported at 80x more powerful than the XBOX we won't see games take advantage of that for quite a while. Those games will be/should be jaw droppingly beautiful, hopefully they'll also be good games.
The PS3 might not be in the same launch situation if the developers have more time...like they do.
But by then some 360 developers/games may be able to compete.
I'll get my 360 after the PS3 comes out and i'll get my PS3 about a year after that. I'll probably pay half what they going for at launch and I'll have more games to choose from.

Backwards compatibility means very little to me. I've played the old games, i don't want to play them again...or very few of them anyway. I'll keep my old console until I've played the games that interest me then I'll get a new console.

All 3 of the consoles will kick serious ass with their games 6-12 months after their launch.
 
I think "they will just be as good as each other" becuase the Xbox360 has a faster GPU and the PS3 has a faster CPU, thus making them pretty much the same. I much prefur PS3 though becuase I know all the games.

Plus i cant wait to play PS1 games agan! My PS2 nearly packed in today =(
 
I will be getting one or two of them, if I get 1 it will be the PS3, mainly for MGS5, if I get two which I've decided I'll decided on when the specs for the Revolution come out and if theres more I want in the XB360 lineup.

I don't think the XB360 is a bad console, it's a very good one but I'd only get PGR3 for it as the moment and maybe TD:U when that comes out, 2 games that I rate but only as good games (though the jury's out on TD:U with it not being out yet) isn't enough to justify me buying the console.
 
did you know the ps3 is twice as powerful as the xbox? it still looks like a sandwich toaster though.
and the controller, whats up with that? it looks like a deformed banana!
anyway have you seen the killzone trailer. ps3 is gonna blow xbox 360 out of the water

It WILL be more powerful, it's coming out later etc, but twice? Arf!

Still, that was the lamest comment of the century of lamitude. Banana and toaster jokes are way old. I mean, the only FLOP count put out by a George Foreman is the number of burgers you're shoving into your face.
 
Correct me if I am wrong, The Xbox 360 still use the current DVD drive, right? and I also heard something about Microsoft won't be releasing a "second edition" of Xbox 360 equipped with HD-DVD drive. it's really bad IMO, what's gonna happen with games like Halo 3, Forza 2 if they require more than 9 GB of space? multi-discs? make the games shorter? cut off the contents?
 
Isn't this a bit biased, since it's on a forum for a game exclusive to Sony?

I hope the PS3 can better the Box, but it's got it's work cut out, since from what I hear the Xbox 360 is an amazing piece of kit.

Nah, I don't think so... Nobody will deny that overall the Xbox is more powerful than the PS2 and usually consoles that are released later are more powerful... To what degree, that is what I'm interested is...we'll see soon hopefully.
 
Well the XB's extra power didn't win the war of the last generation, so will the PS3 be the same, a bit too little too late? Probably not, but who knows. And Max, somehow there are still people who don't accept that the XB is more powerful than the PS2.
 
XBOX 360 live versus PS3 lanparty or whatever . This is the number one stumbling block ; Sony does'nt seem to care to play the online game western style ( Tokyo style ; Fibreoptic )

Yeah probably not, the fanbase is huge, so is the software support... but MS could close the gap a bit more this time, and maybe next generation they are par... or not, who knows... the success of Sony - or let's put it that way : the degree of Sony's dominance will depend on the power of the PS3... if the difference is too little ( keep in mind that Xbox360 games will always be one generation ahed, because of the earlier release ), PS3 should still be the overall winner, but especially in the US and EU the battle might be a little colser this time.

And Max, somehow there are still people who don't accept that the XB is more powerful than the PS2.

I can't juge if there are one or two points in the PS2 hardware who are actually stronger, some might be equal, in the end most people should be able to see the difference, the best looking Xbox games are above the the best looking PS2 games ;)
