Tha Con, while I agree on you're overall opinion of Tekken and I lean more towards you're opinion of the PS2 ect, I think attempting to get at Code Kev isn't good. For example, when he said Tekken is crap he meant the gameplay, bear in mind it's HIS OWN OPINION, then when he says it's well made, he means it's well made. You can disslike something thats well made.

PS3 vs. Xbox not "this game is better than that game".
Way to ruin a thread ladies.
No use watching this topic anymore. i'm unsubscribed. cya.

, and especially the brilliant Halo games. Calling Halo crap is a joke. Halo games are made to a damn high standard with great gameplay, good graphics, fantastic sound, a good plot, and a genius multiplayer. To call halo games crap implies that you know nothing about computer games.

Well Doom 3, Riddick and halo 1 and 2 are wonderful games. Half Life 2 is also being made for it.

See, why can't you accept that he doesn't like Tekken? Neither him or I think fondly of tekken, but we both appreciate it.
He's right, it's a very.. very slow game. That is why I didn't play 3D fighters up until the soul Blade/calibur series, because 3d fighters were WAAAY to slow. It was just obnoxious how slow they were asside from Soul the only barable 3D fighter i've found was Ehrgeiz. I don't know if any of you have been in a fight or anything, but punches arn't thrown over a period of a full second. I know the time is delayed to give reaction time for the combatant, but come on.
Not to mention that they try and stay away from "super powers" and what not, yet they continously throw in a random flaming fist, or electric palm....You can't just nudge things like that in a fighting game and ONLY give that.

Give me a nice fast paced 2D fighter with infinite options over a 3D fighter with "let me get my 3 hits in, then for some reason my character pauses, instead of pursueing his opponent, he just stops trying to fight in order to..."Give the other person a chance""

Because you are wrong, in every aspect you try to argue, you are wrong, it's as simple as that.

Jabs in tekken are 8-10 frames. That's 8-10 frames out of the 60 frames that occur every second, that is MUCH FASTER than a full second jab, because that would be a 60 frame animation.

Ehrgeiz? Are you joking me? That fighter was so simple and shallow it's amazing, I see now why you don't like Tekken, it is quite obvious you are either a)too simple to comprehend a complex fighting system, so you dismiss it and believe something more shallow to be better, or b) you just have no chance at winning at a scrub level, so you can't even imagine what a high level player would play like.

Tekken isn't ment to be realistic, name one fight you've ever seen where you can juggle someone in the air? Because it happens in 2D fighters and 3D fighters...so I have no idea what you are talking about, and neither do you.

If Tekken is so slow, explain to me how I can take half of your life in one juggle with a mid tier character, or even worse, how I can take 45% of your life with on juggle with a BOTTOM TIER character, and follow up for another 30% if you tech roll on the fall of the juggle? Because it's not slow. Both of you are blowing smoke up eachothers asses if you believe that it's slow, because SC isn't any faster, however the weapons make it seem faster because they either have longer hit range or can be thrown etc so that spacing matters less, but the actual speed of animation etc is the same. Weapons eliminate the ability to turtle and keep your distance.

So, if you don't know anything about being a serious Tekken player, let alone playing a fighter at all, then don't say it sucks, because you are only speaking from what you don't know, and in the dictionary, we call that ignorance.

And both of you saying the game is crap, but returning with comments like "it's well made" or "we appreciate it" is laughable, because you said something stupid in a previous post now you try to drop in a cop out to save face? Don't joke yourself.

I slightly dissagree con, code makes more sense with his opinion than Drifster. And no Tekken 5 is not slow I dont know what fast is if Tekken 5 is slow.
Comparing a 2d fighter to a 3d one is silly. Playing SF2 Hyper on max speed is unplayable(and unenjoyable) but it would take that speed to skillfully drain someones life as fast as you can in Tekken 5 even with damage set to minimum (thats how we play). Moves that leave you wide open are a part of the game and not some fault in the system. Its the players fault for not completing a string or using it at the worng time. Lee for example has a deadly kick combo if you use just one kick hes left open. its not for a single strike,he just stands there with his leg up and open for attacks. If Tekken was like God Of War(block during any kind of attack or combo) it would be too easy to block and matches would be too frustrating to play

LaBounti, no one's saying that "being left open for attack" is a fault in tlhe system". So stop trying to imply that I think Tekken is some sort of faulty franchise. After Lee's "series of kicks" if he connects with all of them, what is there? There is a pause, an unavoidable pause, that gives ample time for enemy recoup, that is what I was speaking of. Read what I say next time, don't read what you THINK i'm saying.

And yes, tekken is slow, and if you're going to go into how many frames per second a punch takes then you obviously have WAY too much free time on your hands.

I jus watched a couple tekken video's. Speaking on the "hit properties" comment, your right it's hit properties do stand out. Not many of the newer 3d fighters allow you to upercut a target in the shin when said target is already half on the ground and launch him back in the air.

You say stop like im the_con. Anyway I said what I said based on this. Thats what I got from this and what I thought you meant. So cool your jets. I wasnt implying anything. If anything it was guilt.

As far as Lee you'd have to really suck to keep kicking if no hits are even blocked. After all kicks are executed(its a 6 hit combo) the defender cant do anything even after the last hit is blocked and gives you enough recovery time. You're not thinking of the kicks im talking about then.

It's a punishment system. If you are willing to use risky attacks then you are going to be left open for a certain amount on time, each move has different recovery properties depending on the hit condition. If the move is blocked, then usually you will either have just enough recovery time to not get hit back (called a "safe" move) or you will recover too slow and get hit (called an "unsafe" move). If you miss completely, however, then you will be at a much larger disadvantage (this is called "wiffing" and is generally punished by anyone with mid range tekken skill).

Also, I've never counted the frames per second, all of that information is released by namco. It's just a matter of learning to beat out your opponent with faster, safer moves, and baiting them to attack so you can get counter hit, by using frame traps. It's much more challenging to bait your opponent to do what you want them to do, than it is to simply fight like a button mashing scrub, which I'm sure it a generalization of how you play.

Dude, you just don't like people in general do you? Someone comments on a video game that you are apparently infatuated with and you go off on some tangent and start insulting the person. Do you reaize how rediculous that is?

"You don't like Tekken? You're an idiot, stupid button mashing fool" Geez dude, get a life.
You're starting to remind me of the South Park representation of Bill Gates.
You'll beat me at tekken, is that something to be proud of? You can "bait" and use "Safer moves" on a video game. Are you getting paid to do it? No? Then stop taking comments so seriously ya douche

It has nothing to do with insulting you or being a fan of a game, it has to do with your generalization of certain things, and your lack of knowledge. I don't post for you, I refute points, it's not that I don't like you, or anyone else, I simply like debating, and I love to debate people who constantly make false points, maybe it's a sick obsession, but hell I won't lie I can't resist correcting someone who is wrong, it's just me.

You made a ton of statements about video games it's clear you have only played for a fraction of time. Any game I play I play to the fullest, and do it all, learn it and love it, then leave it. That's what I do with my free time, while I don't have a lot of it, I still do it. Tekken, DMC, God of War, everything, right now I'm working on Jade Empire, great game, but if you said something stupid about it I'd correct you in a heartbeat, just because it's stupid and I wouldn't want other people to be discouraged from a good gaming experience based on your guidance and thoughts..

con you write too much, you need to be a journalist.

any one know anything about the wireless controllers? how many ghz? how are they powered/charged?

If I were to say something stupid about Jade Empire, like...It's also a simple game, great game but extremely simple I suppose you'd bicker with me about that. Like the fact that Stone hand is extremely cheap, as is heavenly wave. But call me crazy for thinking that game is simple, right?
The funny thing is, everything I say is my own opinion, nothing I say is intended to sway anyone else from buying or not buying something, or playing or not playing something. I'm giving my opinion which is what these forums are all about, giving opinions and learning things. Nothing I've said has been an attack to you up until you're blatent insults towards me. DMC was a simple game, it will always be a simple game, Dante Must die was still SIMPLE aslong as you have strategy, just like in jade empire, I never bothered playing Super Dante I'm sure it's "more difficult" but it would just be more monotinous gaming.

GOW is a great game, never said otherwise.
You see i'm a perception gamer, you're obviously not.
When I play a game if it doesn't get my attention within the first 2-3 stages, I'm not going to play it or beat it unless someone I know who I trust has told me it gets better. I'm not going to waste my time on something that just, isn't fun. You can go ahead and do that all you want, i'm not going to stop you or try and talk you out of it like you're trying to do me and other people.
I don't like Tekken, tekken is boring, tekken isn't fun, tekken had Eddy Gordo Law and Lee. That was the extent of the Tekken fun.
Hell Bloody Roar entertained me 4x as much as Tekken EVER has, and your Hit property ideas arn't going to change the fact that Bloody Roar entertained me 4x as much as tekken ever did. Sime as that buddeh! 👎 :D 👍

con you write too much, you need to be a journalist.

You plug them in to any active(powerd)usb port from what i can remember from E3. Or directly into the PS3 and i think the same goes for X360 or was only for X360.

I have to say I like Tekken simply because I'm 26 and I've enjoyed it for 11 years since the first exploded into arcades and was a better game for new people to learn unlike VF1 or 2. The shocking news I got back in 94 that it was coming to the newly anouced Playstation(old news but new to me). It was a transtional time for gamers where almost anything that came out in 3D was good and fun. So no matter how horrible Tekken 1 plays now it wasnt like that when it first came out since there was no other game like it on consoles.

So I'm a long time tekken fan and Ridge Racer fan. I cant abandon my roots in 3D gaming.

I voted for PS3 of course!!! on a scale from 1-10 of the latest gameshows PS3 have 8 and Xbox 360 have 2...

Thanks for bringing this thread back.

Ya all this is going to do is bring the idiots outta the wood works, there is no possible way to compare the two systems until they both are on the market.

Wait a minute...

THAT HORSE ISN'T DEAD

Well hurry up and kill it so we can tell people to stop beating it....wow that's dirty .

i'd expect this thread to be a bit biased since this is a forum centered around a game made for the sony playstation. but i still believe the ps3 will be the better system. 👍 its got a gigantic amount of 3rd party support, blue ray, and gran turismo 5.
Hopefully the xbox 360 will be competitive to keep products at high quality and cheap.

like many people have said before..

Hardware doesn't really matter on a console if 90% of the community doesn't plan on modifying their console..

The GAMES are what people care about..and that is what will sell the console..

as for that trailer..

the only Ps3 exclusive games that sparked an interest MGS4...and....that's about it....

Look, PS3 is going to be released in 2006. Just wait a few months there'll be more big games coming up.... Microsoft has to rush though, they have to use their little amount of time being on the "top".

NEWS FLASH! More people in America are intrested in Xbox games.

The PS3 might be better selling world wide, but Xbox I think will be better selling in America. But who cares, just buy both systems and you can be entertained until your hearts contents.
