like many people have said before..

Hardware doesn't really matter on a console if 90% of the community doesn't plan on modifying their console..

The GAMES are what people care about..and that is what will sell the console..

as for that trailer..

the only Ps3 exclusive games that sparked an interest MGS4...and....that's about it....

well, i've seen pretty much intresting games for PS3... Killzone 2, Unreal Tournament 2007, Gran Turismo 4, Motor Storm, Fight Night and more...

oh, and MGS4 of course ;)

EDIT: Xbox360 doesn't amazes me at all... well some games look good, when i saw PS3 trailers Xbox360 was NOTHING...
 
Wait a sec. The way I'm thinking about it is how similar the PS2 and Xbox can be to each other. You know the Xbox is quite a bt more powerful than the PS2 right? Well, identical games like Burnout Legends on both consoles are very similar to each other. I think it will be the same between both the PS3 and 360, hence my "they'll be as good as each other" vote.

Well i've already seen the Killzone 2 trailers....

THey don't impress me for crap..considering how many flaws the trailer itself has..

UT2007 isn't exclusive...

Gt4.....eh....

Motor storm AKA smugglers run 2.0...Nah..
 
I'm taking a wait and see approach. I am interested in hearing two things from developers. One, that the Xbox seems to be the easier one to develop for. Two, that the PS3 seems to suffer a lot less from bottlenecks in the data throughput. The first will give the Xbox an advantage, the second may give it a disadvantage. How big the two advantages for each system are in the end, however, we'll only see once all developers have devkits.

For now, I'm betting on the PS3, taking a LOT of things into consideration. But we'll see. One thing I'll be looking for in the Xbox is support for the DF Pro. If it's not there in the next PGR, I don't see a bright future for that console in MY livingroom.
 
Hardware will be a factor this time around seeing Ps3 may be the only Blu-ray movie player on the market thats affordable. And a person(rich or in debt:)) with an HDTV is going to want to take advantage of it. Graphics and flops are a non factor this time around.

What games a system has are not always the driving force for a person to want a next gen console. For me if Xbox was 95% backwards compatible i would have pre-orderd long ago. I still play xbox now more than ever and dont need anymore clutter in my small space occupied by my PC, PS2, Xbox, cable modem, subwoofer with 17in monitor on top and my games all below my TV on the floor with no open sockets :).Something would have to go......

I did not miss anything with Xbox by not getting it at launch since all my favorite series' were Playstation games that were coming to the new system. The leap in technology is smaller with XB to XB360. the leap from PS1 to ps2 was large the leap from ps2 to ps3 is even bigger(each with somehting new to offer hardware wise). So one should understand why PS3 will be so popular. For the most part I am generally speaking.

I'm going to be as happy as a pig in s***t as I intend to have both!
But as mentioned already the PS3 has the edge as a piece of technology for me partly because of its Blu-Ray and HDMI connection (and SACD music too). It was a mistake by Microsoft not to have HDMI though I expect the games will look great in analogue prog scan/1080i. But as for HD DVD...Microsoft have missed the boat as far as the 360 is concerned. Even though recently putting their name along with others like Intel behind Toshibas HD DVD link there is no purposeful way of getting HD DVD onto the 360 unless sold as a "special edition" 360. But games...no games for the 360 will be on HD DVD as not all 360's will have HD DVD drives.
Sony, as far as their console is concerned is already ahead with Blu Ray (supposedly the next GTA game will be on a Blu Ray disc) and two HDMI connections.
I have a HD ready DLP...and I'm sure many more people will have one or be getting one soon here and in the US and Japan. That will count for a lot for those who consider technology as important to them as anything else.

Now as for games......who knows? If Sony don'y deliver what has been promised on footage of MGS4, Killzone 2, Vision Gran Turismo...they are dead. But I think they will. It would be corporate suicide if they get it wrong...too much is at stake.

There is a historical precedent here. Sega, after losing the 'war' woth the Saturn vs the Playstation went on to release the Dreamcast before Sony's PS2. Sega didn't win again. Now Microsoft isn't Sega, much more money if anything else, but you have to wonder, will history repeat itself?

Now that you say it like that you have put it in perfect terms. Hell the 360 hasnt got any spectacular games to show for at the moment.

Im talking about the games as a game not as a graphical masterpiece.

I mean come on gundam..doa4... black. Doesnt really get the heart racing now does it. Sony has a powerful lineup with games that people know and adore and be excited about to compare against their last generation counterparts. Sonys lineup has the best new generation games of the last generation. xbox doesnt.
 
armoured core and gundam look promising. I was a big fan of the 1st armoured core but sadly never got a chance to play any of the other AC games.

What do you think i'm talking about??? No where did I say "The graphics of this game are great". To me it looks like a case of role reversal. There are maybe 4-5 people that have said "good things" about the 360 so far out of this X# of page thread. You say the Xbox360 has no "spectacular games on the way" I list a few, then you say I'M kissing azz? Please..Sony has a linup of...MGS4 and Gran Turismo..that's it...That is absolutely it....Nothing else people "know and adore" is exclusive to Sony, and you know that. You're telling me DOA doesn't have a powerful following? Are you nuts? You telling me HALO doesn't have a powerful following? Ninja Gaiden?Perfect Dark?Tenchu?

You're basing this on the 1-3 games you enjoy playing on your ps2 and looking at their sequals...You're not taking ANYTHING else into consideration.
Atleast i'm not so naive as to say Sony has NO headlining games, like you with 360.

as for the FFVII Tech demo...I don't really care about that.
It wasn't all to impressive either.

had it been made 2-3 years ago..Then it would be amazing..
But in those 2-3 years games have made quite a huge jump..

And that FFVII tech demo is "keeping up"
 
Halo 3 will sell systems alone, for whatever reason people love that game.
 
PGR3, Ghost Recon 3, Nintey Nine Nights, Perfect Dark 2, Resident Evil 5, Gears of War, Call of Duty 2, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Dead or Alive 4, Final Fantasy something, Prey, Saint's Row and Halo 3. Those are probably the most "important" games, though I may have missed some, I don't keep up with games like I used to. Chromehounds by sega also looks very cool.

People love halo games because they offer a good single player, and a fantastic multiplayer, that's easy to get into, and very addictive.

I'm waiting for someone to yell "ZOMG K3V LUVZ XBUGZZ LOLZ! J00 BROWN NOSE M$11!! PS, SONY RULZ!" Shut up, the ps3 is too far off for me really to bother looking in to it yet. MGS4 looks great though.

Uh, Gears of War. That's like the biggest Next Gen. game in the spotlight.
And Project Gotham Racing 3
PGR3 is projected to do what PGR2 did.
Be the Best Racing Game of the Year.
 
Not to mention Test drive..

Funny thing is....Xbox 360's 2 arcade games are going to have cars 4 generations of Gran turismo couldn't....

Well as you know with the PGR series already having #3 signed into the success books, its no brainer that if Porsche is found in PGR3, the series will have taken the lead in Racing Genre.

C'mon, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche? Everyone knows these were the BIG names of the 90's, and to have them joined by Saleen, TVR, Koenigsegg, and such sign this game into the Hall Of Fame long before its release.

I mean..even if it doesn't have.."700+ cars"..

it has 100+ cars people actually WANT to drive
 
To judge the PS3's games now is a bit stupid. Not one actual Xbox 360 game running on the hardware was shown until recently all others revealed at or around E3 on mac kits. Looking at the timeline we haven't seen anything yet of PS3 and the system doesn't have a set release date, so judging the system and writing it off before any real games surface is a bit shallow. Xbox360 was revealed 7 months before its release PS3 was revealed a year before its release, There is plenty of time before any game maker has to show a single game.


There are reasons to not be exited about Xbox 360 right now(launch titles revealed dates have been set). None to not be exited about PS3 yet. There are no real games yet if thats all that matters to a person.
 
I personaly do not care which system has the best looking stats. All systems have there own games (Nintendo included) which for me means i want them all.
If i had to pick one from the current generation i would have to go with PS2, not because i think it is any better, just because it has more choice of games. However this could change with the next generation with the 360 geting a headstart on PS3.
