Quick questions for the PCars dev team:
will the PS4 controls be customizable ... i really don't want to be locked in to having to accelerate with R2 etc... this would be a deal breaker for me and i would simply cancel my pre-order!!

I agree and hope one will be able to customize the controls, I'll still buy it but I understand your point.

You like me and you use L2/R2 to shift and left stick to steer, right stick to accelerate/ brake?

Customizable controls are a must these days.
I'm fine with R2/L2 for throttle/brake, I like to set triangle/square for shift up/shift down, having to use x/circle to shift gears hurts my thumb.

As an aside, I have found L2 and R2 for brake/accelerate is much better on the PS4 than on the PS3 due to the extended DS4 l2/r2 buttons giving a greater range of travel for the finger and more precise control. Playing Driveclub with the DS4 for long periods is much easier on the hands than a DS3 and GT6/other driving games. Of course with the right stick for accelerate/brake you lose the ability to apply both at once which can help corner stability on some cars.

I use the right stick up for accelerate and L2 for brake. Right stick down for gear down and R2 for gear up. Means you can brake and accelerate at the same time and your right finger doesn't get cramp from holding R2 90% of the time.

Think of the possibilities; custom buttons, menu screens, HUD, external rear view mirror, even additional instruments like tach, oil temps, etc. or LED shift indicators or display showing gear selected.

I didn't realize that was a "thing" on the PS4, it's pretty big on the PC scene already. I bought a tablet just for that purpose, for AC and PCars. Be cool if you can do it with the PS4 as well, it does help to get the clutter off the main screen and helps with the immersion.

You are correct theses only work on PC due to the limitations placed by Microsoft and Sony

Any idea what the specific limitations they have in place? Are Sony/ME charging a fee to developers to do this?

There are some PS4/xb1 games which do allow extra screens to work but for what was a big feature of the PS4 announcement 2 years ago it seems hugely underused so far.

I think it may be a limitation based on the way the second screen gets the data, and driver issues. While Smartglass/remote play is possible, the information is not in real-time; that is to say that remote play is just streaming, and Smartglass has pre-scripted events.

Sony and MS are very wary of external connections, that is why the connection to weather web sites had to be dropped for the console versions (updates pending).

Well that's a disappointment. Hopefully it will be included for the ps4 since Sony has an app already for second screen. I guess it's just up to the SMS developers if they want to use it. Don't know if the Xbox has something similar.

What we can confirm for sure is a neat little detail: The speaker in the PS4 pad will be emitting the pit to car radio. That will probably add a lot of athmosphere, I really like that in other games. 👍

I think it will. I like the use of it in GTA5 for phone calls. Seems like another under used toy
