Are you referring to the Crew Chief I talked about. Because I was talking about the 3rd party Crew Chief - not the in game one. The 3rd party app gives a lot more information than the in game Crew Chief.

No I’m talking about chat. I have chat going through my controller since I don’t want to hear anyone through my speakers.

I don’t have a problem with the sound mix being low. It is. It’s a problem if you can’t amplify your signals though.

But to get any LFE out of the game, I need the game setting at 85+ then an additional 0.5db or more from my receiver.

What makes this more annoying is that it’s still better to me than GT S and Forza. AC sounds good though.

It just seems to me that the overall trend is away from big sound. Not just in racing games, though it’s not like GT ever had great sound.

I'm not too fussy about sound, I think all the games you've mentioned are fine. I just want to hear it. But Assetto... Man, that game does give me goosebumps sometimes. The Porsche 935, with it's pops, sputters and backfires, Mmmm, it's like racecar porn.

Sound is pretty big for me.

Funny thing to come back to this game’s low LFE sounds. I hadn’t recalibrated my setup since I added my sub and center channel, so I did that this week. Now, when my sub is powered on, even watching a show like top gear can shake the house... but not PCars, not even with LFE set to 100, I still neeed to turn it up really loud. But if I play with a controller I get rumble when the engine gets close to redline.

I can tune my setup to get some base from this game, but it’s kind of at a silly level. That being said, it’s still better than forza and GT.

Assetto Corsa gets installed on the new Xbox oneX tomorrow.

A horrible video I have put together to show the low sound/volume of PC2 on PS4 on headphones:
I tried to show somehow the low volume perceived by the ears in the most scientific way I could possibly think of.

It's my first actual youtube video (non-gameplay) so excuse me for the bad overall quality. It was just an idea I got at 1:00AM and thought why not do it immediately.

Yeah, some of the cars I have a hard time hearing over the game chat when league racing. Shouldn't have to go try adjusting for each individual car.

I noticed yesterday what if private chat is on, game volume is much lover, than if you dont have private chat on.

Is that an in game setting, or console setting? I just finally picked this title up yesterday and sound is not very loud. I have my ps golds turned to max and am using cockpit cam (not helmet). When I switch to any other title or the ps4 dashboard it is really loud.

I've beat this issue into the ground and SMS won't acknowledge it. It's a simple comparison to other games that proves P Cars 2 volume is much lower. For some reason, this issue is being completely ignored.
That really is a shame. What methods are you using to "beat this into the ground" other than this topic?

Edit: I sent @IanBell a few well worded private messages on here at times when I saw he was active but have never gotten a response. All just about the lack of naming online lobbies for consoles. I know sometimes he replies with a non-answer explaining why he can't provide a real one and I even asked for that but still nothing.

The surround sound mix is so poor in this game that I finally gave up on 5.1 and now listen in stereo! This is the first game that I have had to do this to. I don't understand how SMS could have got the mix and levels so wrong when they were so good in PC1 - whoever was responsible needs firing!

Sound is important to me and it is so poor in this game that I am seriously considering switching to AC when the Ultimate edition is released. Much as I enjoy the weather and the night to day effects in PC2 I would trade them for a game with proper sound. This is so annoying and so frustrating - how could the first game get it so right and this game get it so wrong!

*Cracks knuckles* I'll get right on that.

Jokes aside, no one here works for SMS so wording your frustration like that is quite silly. Especially after five pages of discussion on the matter.
Its also not that simple.

As the quality and volume of the audio varies massively depending on what you are using, with people who have it running just through TVs, soundbars or Home Cinema in a box suffering massively, and yet those with AV systems capable of LPCM not having the same sort of issues at all.

I'm fortunate to be in the latter category, but it should be the same level playing field as it was back on the original Project Cars.

I so agree. Just wish we could have the same performance we previously had. For the record, I can even get a little more volume by connecting my headset to the headphone jack on the tv, via 3.5 mm cable. But using the USB dongle (for wireless) causes very low volume levels... Still, after several patches. :(

Hello, please fix volume levels for the game. its TOOO LOWW.
Perhaps a kind message on the official Project Cars forum might help draw attention to the issue. I've tried but haven't had any success.

I said it before, some men just like to see the world burn.

A repost from earlier, none the less my point is the same and it still is quite a detraction from could have been.

I've been repeating myself like a recording on this, the general level is likely adjustable with minimal effort (this has been done). However, the audio capture and/or re-mastering of the audio is really what is required.

As it stand the sound engineer did a horrendous job and removed nearly all the frequency below 150hz - ish. This is why we have nearly no tactile or subwoofer activity.

I don't even turn my sub on for this game which is a shame and my line array speakers have no growl in the lower mids anymore either. :/

Odd then as I have both subwoofer and tactile activity for PC2.

As Gr8 said, i think the people suffering the most are people using USB audio like myself and him.
With audio via headphone jack on DS4 it gets a bit better (but still low).

I was running a couple of days ago PC2 on my headphones at max volume and barely hearing the car sound! I then jumped to AC and had to lower the volume like 10 ticks just not to tear my ears apart. Had to do same today with bloodborne.
This is getting really annoying and I’m really not able to enjoy the game because of that. It’s ridiculously low.
Ffs i paid 95$ for this ****ing game to enjoy and still can’t. I regret the purchase sometimes...

Here's the really odd thing with this, and why I think that the issue is that SMS didn't include any compressed audio in PC2.

On a zero dB scale (which my receiver runs) I set it to -25 with PC2 and -26 with AC, the two are almost identical in output via my system.

The thing is I’m not really an audiophile or even a guy that cares too much for audio quality.
I’m also a very easy-to-satisfy guy in that regard.
In the past years of gaming (maybe more than 20y) I’ve never complained about audio in any game, ever! It’s just that this one is ridiculous.
I’m not also into technical stuff as i dunno what’s compressed audio or what benefits it could have given us.
All I’m asking for is a decent audio volume (not even asking for quality) for my 95$, is that a lot to ask!?

Ok let me see if this makes sense.

Uncompressed audio covers the frequency range that the actual sound does, it's measured using Hertz. However to make it simple imagine the lowest bass is 1 and the highest treble is 10.

If you have a system that can play back everything from 1 to 10 you get to hear everything. These however are expensive, and most can say only do 4 to 8, so when played back you miss a lot of the bass and treble. It will also sound quiet, and turning it up will not help because you only turn up the 4 to 8 part (the rest you never hear).

Now compressed audio squeezes the 1 to 10 into 4 to 8, you lose some quality and it can sound a bit muddled, and is also louder. However you at least get to hear more of the bass and treble.

Most audio tracks include both and send out the right one depending on your system, however I believe that PC2 only has an uncompressed audio mix.

It explains why the audio sounds do different when listened to on different systems.

They should fix this as it's not acceptable to have this the way it currently is

I just want PC2 to sound as good as PC1! At the moment I am forced to listen in stereo because it's so awful when I use 5.1. I can't get my tactile transducer / shaker system to work at all yet it worked perfectly on PC1 (better than any other game I've tried). I know I could get my shaker system to work with PC2, but only if I invest more money in equipment, but why should I just to fix something that wasn't broken in PC1!

I'm holding off, waiting for SMS to fix this, but I'm starting to lose patience and don't want to feel that I've been forced with my League into the arms of another game because of their failure to acknowledge and deal with this problem!

Sound studios have multiple speaker monitors to avoid this problem - they test play a mix through both large and small monitors to check that the sound is ok on both - it seems as if SMS have set this up to only sound good on high end equipment and not sound good on all systems like they did with PC1.

Such a shame that they can release a brilliant DLC car like the 917K in the Porsche pack, but spoil all that effort through a duff audio mix.

Always wondered what that setting was on my (samsung in a box 5.1 system) I can choose 2/8, 4/8, 6/8, 8/8 or full in the settings, I just left it on full.

What do you consider high end? My amp, 5 speakers and sub cost just over £2000 and i think the sound is pretty awful for the majority of the time.

Something seems severly up with the PS4 version the mix levels seem all over the place and anything below 120hz seems to be missing.

Is there some source for this, or is it just your own thought?
I'm curious and went to search more information about this.

Technobabble technobabble, bob loblaw bob loblaw, just put the sound of p1 back in. People with USB headsets are many... just fix it already. We are not going to drop a bundle of cash to buy systems that will compensate for their crappy quality sound. But we might get ticked enough to go to a/c . Permanently. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Ian Bell.

I think........

It's my own thoughts, speculation and hypothesis based on what we know and how audio recording, production and playback works.

I simply offered an explanation based on the avaliable evidence.

Peoplele with USB headsets are many... just fix it already.
I agree.

Technically it's not crappy sound, you should have taken the ''technobabble" on board.

But we might get ticked enough to go to a/c . Permanently. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Ian Bell.
I'm not Ian Bell, if you want to address him then tag him (he's a member) rather than addressing your anger at me.

Oh and AC has enough if its own audio issues.
