ps4 purchase

Hey guys I'm planning to buy a ps4 from the USA. I'm in India so the ps4 games which I buy here will work on that ps4 right? Or does it still have the region lock system

The PS4 is region free. If you buy games from the US you'll need to buy the DLC from the NA store in order for it to work though, the game and DLC regions have to match in order to be compatible.

Before buying a PS4 look at the game list, make sure there are stuff you are interested to. It's a small game list actually.

I'm in the same position, I'm probably going to buy it via amazon. Just saving up the last few pounds and deciding which games to get.

The games sold in India for ps3 are pal versions so dlc for such games I get it from the European PS store so I'm guessing it'll be the same for the ps4 too?

So basically games which I buy here in India will work
I can sign into my same Psn account too right?
You are aware right that the PS4 isn't backwards compatible with the PS3? Just checking.

To answer your question however, if you buy a PS4 game in India and try to play it on an American PS4, it will work because the PS4 is region free as far as playing games. If you try to play movies, it won't work because the Blu-ray region codes would be in effect. There are three of them, A, B, or C (or their numbered variants 1, 2, and 3), and unlike DVD, which the firmware would read the region codes, Blu-Ray players rely on the system software to enforce the codes. That is why when you play another region's game on a PS4, it will work because the game has some code that bypasses the region code check.

Yes I'm aware regarding the backwards compatibility.
And I won't be watching any blue ray movies on the ps4 either.
So how about Psn? Will I still be able to log in to the same account as on my Ps3?

Yes you can use the same account that you have for PS3. It is same for PS3,PS4, PS vita. But PSN India is different from PSN US of course. Also note that PS+ you will either have to choose PSN US, NA region so PSN Europe, PAL region which is basically Europe, Asia. I think PS+ UK is also there. You cannot have multiple PS+ account. So whatever you are going to use primary account get PS+ for that. I would suggest PS+ Europe, PAL region as most games you buy won't be US version anyways

I don't see a reason why you can't, at least from the hardware side of things. It should be a simple matter of changing the language during set up so that the system can allow you to input from the keyboard. If you have a spare keyboard lying around, you would need to set the language during set up anyways so that the system can read the inputs from the keyboard.

That is assuming that you would be playing in a language other than English.

No I wouldn't be changing the language. I'll be using English itself
and in wikipedia it says that in order to play certain games online that is multiplayer, you need a playstation plus membership. will this be a problem since ill be getting the ps4 from the usa?
