PSP crashed twice in a row now...

I get as far as the single race screen... then the buttons become unresponsive and a few seconds later it shuts down... what could be happening?

Could be a disc error.

Only with single races? If so, try cleaning the disc or save your game data on your PC and then re-install the game and next reload your game data.
