Did he gain time by running wide?
I didn't see it but it is possible to run wide there and either lose time or not gain time. I know whenever I have run wide there , I have lost time as you need to get over to the left hand side of the track for the next turn .

That picture is a definite "gain" territory , trying to separate single tenths to determine if a lap needs a penalty was never really the plan iirc.
Exceptions are only made when it's clear the person at least lost some time.

At least that's how I believe the system works. I've been wrong about simpler things, for sure.

Imo, wide is wide. No matter if time is lost or gained. Either way, Josh can run those times without running wide. He's a fast guy.

We reviewed the replay and all 4 tires were outside the curbing in turn 10. Therefore it was a dirty lap.

Agreed. I never can go through it consistently. I'm either too fast, too slow, or turn too late or too early...or some combination of those.

You should have seen the mess we had in the WSGTC race here earlier this year.One guy cut that turn something like 27 times,but he did drive it clean when another car was close by to see him.. I guess he never figured somebody would watch the replay.💡

We had some guys in another racing league do that at sarthe. Stewards were not happy after i showed them the pics.

Fine, I thought it was a penalty if you gained time.

What I take from this not to assume. Best thing to do is keep it between the lines just to avoid getting penalized. And yes, I need to take my own advice. Although I know roughly the boundaries, my brain isn't always great at getting my hands to make the car do what I want. I hesitate too much and make mistakes, hence my dirty laps. I'm always jittery in qualifying. Never fails.
