On the tuning discussion, I think most of the settings do change the cars behaviour quite a bit.

Ride Hight: Evens out tire wear
Spring Rate: a Less/more bumpy ride
Dampers: helps with rotation (rear) on throttle and turn in (front)
ARB: Makes the car flex more/less (I had problem with the rear snapping out in T1 at GP/F. It felt stiff, so reduced the rear ARB and the skidding stopped).
BB: Helps with trail braking and even out wear (less impact on the wear compared to the ride hight)
Camber: Better front end grip in high speed corners, but more wear (mainly front, not as important in the rear. Can help with stability)
Toe: front can give a slightly better response in turn in (front), rear help the car to rotate in mid-high speed corners (not as much as pre 2,09, but still noticeable).
LSD: As pre 2,09. Slightly better feel in it.
Aero: Max aero is'nt as given as pre 2,09.

and these are all traits much more in-line with reality. 👍

Agree to some degree, but it also changed.

Ridehight doesn't work as before, it might even be reversed, but as its on volume 1 rather than 30 its hard to know what it does.

Rear toe was what I considered as a "power tune" before together with Ridehight an the LSD. Today rear toe doesn't have much effect and if anything its most (or only) noticable on the straights.

As everything in the suspention tuning is very subtle at best, and some things changed for sure, its just a guesswork.

On the positive side, setting up the car for a new track is done in notime.
Ride height still works the same in regards to straight-line grip and top speed.

As for cornering, I tried max/min vs min/max on the NSX at Nurb F, only using ride height it was hard to tell, using the full max/min made it rotate a small amount more though.
Can't be positive if it was the whole combo that combines together to make the difference noticeable, or if it was the springs/dampers/arb that made it rotate.
I'm guessing it's the "combo" effect.

2.08 muted the tuning offline, but didn't affect online. 2.08 changed the aerodynamic physics of the game regarding downforce, but not individual cars, a general downforce adjustement that didn't affect cars without downforce.
2.09 turned online physics into offline physics (as was probably originally intended) and changed the FFB.
That's my unofficial opinion at the moment. No actual physics change other than the online-offline transition. Hence the faster-than-ever lap times we're running. ;)

No actual physics change other than the online-offline transition.

I'm gonna disagree with this. I still think there was a change overall with both of them. The offline physics before were not an understeer fest, in fact I thought the offline physics had too much grip and now it's been toned down as well. Also, I REALLY noticed the physics changes the other night when I swapped to my DS3 and did some dorifto action. Seemed to me like you could really feel the body weight of the car now.

I always found offline extremely under-steery, and tuning offline also always required more extreme values than online.
It's quite possible they're related too.

Offline was always more stable than online, then 2.08 came out and changed offline tuning, then 2.09 came out and changed online tuning, now, they seem to drive the same.(to me at least)

The most interesting thing I find is that people complaining about the new update sound the same as previous complaints I heard of offline physics. Quotes like "1 tire compound up" and "the rear feels nailed to the ground" both come to mind, as terms to describe both offline physics compared to online in the past, and now to compare new online to old online.

not much different... it was guesswork of trial and error poking around trying to figure out what did what under the old regime as none of it was in accordance with the physical mechanics of weight transfer and contact patches.

This is unfortanly so true and always been. People have different opinions, but doing everything backwards to how it should be I thought was a quite successful method. I thought of it as "backwards tuning". But now when the result of any change is so muted, its more diffucult than ever to do anything, also trail-and-error.

Sorry to say i cant race this upcoming Sunda as my daughter has her
birthday. So ill leave my space for this week dudes;))

Good luck all on Sunday....👍

Cheers Kev:dopey:

Thanks for telling us. 👍
Added.

And gratz to your little girl!

I'm going to keep track of everyones votes in this post and quote it as we go along.
State if you're fine with either, or only one of the proposed start times.

This is with F1 in mind. So this is only for JGTS R5 @ Nürburgring GP/F.

This is not a vote in like the option that get the most votes win.
It's enough if just one guy can't make the earlier start time to keep the original start time.
There's a possibility to start D1 and D2 at different times though.
So this post is just to keep track of who can/can't make the proposed times.

It's already clear that the division Jason ends up in will start at the original time.

35 guys have had a say so far.

Missing:

Andy?
Maxking?
Michouw?
Have a say guys! 👍

56.3 first time lap on a new tune. Made two mistakes. Which says a 55.x is in me. :) I go to bed happy. Full aero fwiw

Nige: 1:55.896
Jason: 1:56.344*

Jason's under review for possible cut, I'm going to bed, Nige is checking the replay and I am in the morning. Can't add the time until we know though.(system doesn't allow penalty edits)

Highlight of tonight's practice:
58 liters of fuel used in 19 laps, consistent as per Dennis' 3.1L/Lap. We'll all be needing to take about 90L of fuel this race.
Nige turned another 54.9xx, I was up .126 at T3 but flubbed the chicane and turned another 55.3xx. :(

Fun races and practice tonight, until I attempted to qualify, lol. Went off track on first flyer, then had to be cautious on 2nd one. Pretty disappointed to say the least, but, it's a long race and race pace looks good, if I can concentrate for long enough (not a fan of races over an hour long really).

Both Jeff and I have checked Jason's lap and it's clean by approximately 1/2" 👍 I'll add it to the list now.

I don't mind what time we start... I'm on call this weekend though so if I do get a call from work I may have to drop out last minute or mid race though its unlikely! Hope this is ok.

Tim: Nissman will race if we start 1 hour earlier, and Jordan will not race because of bad connection.
Care to swap them in your list?

Won't be racing this weekend due to what I posted a few days ago, but if I was able, I would prefer the start time to be an hour earlier.

FTW Tony plans P&Q around 1800GMT today.

To reiterate what Nige means by "went off track", that's 2 in the sand, followed by going wide the next corner and lifting for 2 seconds to stay on track, and a clean 56.7 anyway.

Jason your lap was almost exactly like my Monza lap so so so close but close don't mean diddly when the man kept two on the white line. :)

Was relieved to see it was clean. Hate having to call people on dirty laps that are only fractions of an inch off. So yea was a relief knowing you would be pleased to hear it was cuh lean.

Pag..

Can you make an earlier start time?
1. Keep the original Start Time.
2. Race at an 1 hour earlier Start Time.
3. Either time works.

What happened was that I was so concerned with getting through there cleanly that I screwed up the entry and then turned into the exit too early to try and make up for it. Like I said, I hate this track. That damn chicane is one of the worst corners in the entire game. :grumpy:

I'm not disappointed by my lap, but I know I could have done better. It'll be in the teens again, hopefully still in D1. :nervous:

With the more stringent rules, I'll have to agree. I'm so used to taking it in a way to go through there relatively straight, and now I have to really angle it in.

Struggling so badly, I'm be surprised if I Q in the Top 5 in D2. :(
