I'm really happy with this!
After my unfortunate story about yesterday's qualifying, I was gutted because I felt quick, yet I would start at the back and lose any chance to get a good result... or so I thought! (By good result, I was hoping for a 5th at best)
My race went through these phases:
- My goal is to finish 8th
- Maybe I could get a 7th...
- My group is 4th to 6th; at least I would get 6th
- It's just Simon (GTP_Cicua) and me, so a 5th is great...
- I think I know how to make it to 4th!
- Oh no, Dom!! But holy ****, 3rd!
These stages are more for a laugh, but you get the idea. I felt quick but I knew I wouldn't have anybody's draft. Yet I did get some drafts here and there, that helped me make it.
I also have to add that, once again, a good (great!) result comes when I'm able to make a full race without a single mistake. I would like to think that this, along with my WSGTC results mean I'm growing up as a driver, if only a bit. Slowly, I'm learning how to be fast AND consistent, I guess it ends up paying off.
This series had not been successful at all for me, partly because I didn't have time to practice, so I always practiced on saturdays alone. I was a bit disappointed, since I loved this car, but was surprised not to have any decent result. My best result so far was 7th... in the season opener, then 8ths, 9ths and the such. So a 3rd place here does make the whole series worth it. And it boosts my motivation as we head to the last race of the season at Suzuka...
Great fun race and great battles with everyone! 👍
