Quote from that article:

"Parkfield, population 37, is located on the San Andreas fault and it has experienced six similar, magnitude 6.0 earthquakes with apparent regularity"

Shaq and that kid are out there eating Nestle Crunch bars again, huh? :sly:

Ha ha ha, funny.

The line I found humorous, "A magnitude 5 quake can cause considerable damage and a magnitude 6 quake severe damage, though problems are generally far less severe in remote areas and areas with strong building codes." So, when you're out in remote areas ... where there aren't any buildings, there's a slim chance a building will be damage? Imagine that! Oh, and if you're buildings are built to withstand intense quakes, they won't be damaged by severe quakes. I never knew!

CNN ... the news network for really really dense people.

I heard the Earthquake center in cali had been predicting one for sometime now. I heard it was going to be a bad one. Maybe this was it. If so, thats good news for the state. Meaning no more worring.

Um, Nick. I was up at 6:40a.m. and I didn't feel anything so obviously it didn't effect us.;)

Um...Parkfield? lol....about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, eh? Well...evidently you can't feel a 6.0 quake from 150-200 miles away. We had a 4.0 quake a lot closer to San Jose a couple weeks ago, but it was around 3 am, and I barely woke up. My parents didn't even wake up, and niether did my visiting aunt, who's never been in a quake. Well....really, quakes aren't very bad until they get up over 5, and evidently this 6 wasn't so bad either. Yay for earthquake-proof buildings.

Yeah 3.a.m i'm either am asleep because of school or I never really stay up that late even on weekends I sleep maybe 2:10am at the latest and I go to sleep fast.

Well if you think about it a magnitude 6.0 is huge considering each time you go up one number on the Richter Scale it multiplies the the amount of energy realeased by 10 and the amplitude or the force of the quake by 30.....so ya....

The only earthquake i've felt was a 3.0 and it was an aftershock. I wasn't born yet for the 89 quake.

HIGH ON LIFE

Eh... it's not just the magnitude you have to worry about... it's the time it lasts too. That's why there was so much more damage in the 89 quake. :nervous:

Eh... seriously?

I was born during the 89 quake. January 18 to be exact. I was an infant so i dont remember anything. But my dad does so does my sister. I live in Stockton for those Californians on here. For those who are not familiar. Thats about a 2 hour drive from SF. and a 6 hour drive from LA. Well i didnt feel anything here. And im right smack dab in the middle of the State!!

My sister felt it totaly. She lives in San Luis Obispo. She said everything in the kitchen was shaking violently and she was scared and ran to her neighbor's house... chicken ****.

Well.. if they are gonna have one please have it before 8:00 tomorrow so I don't have to present the work I don't have... 👎:grumpy:

"Oh GOD it's the big one! We're all gonna die!" ... pay no attention to the apparent fact that you can >> run to your neighbor's house <<.
