the reflections in GT-Concept gives me headache!.

i dont think they can be realtime, but i cant find any good proof
that it isnt realtime. Cause everything around the track
is reflected on the car, even small signs etc...

its very good done!. I dont need real reflections aslong as
fake ones looks this good.

why try and find out then? thats better then i would have expected from a ps2.

real and fake.... its all fake its just how real they can make it look

It's real time reflections. If everything is reflected on the car then it's real time. Real time is not real it's the on screen equivelent.

Not to go off-topic, the Mirage pic was taken at the E3 show with all the lights and stuff. As a fan of nighttime, maybe the background should be a starry sky with the moon, or even a sparkly city at night, like maybe New York or Tokyo (I was going for Tokyo, but decided to include lovely New York as well). And I don't think I've seen heat rays on television when I see races, so I can't comment on heat waves. If the rumors of weather are true, you'll surely see rooster tails of rain. I seen the "On the Limit" coverage of a round at Fuji. It was the worst of two evils. Rain and fog. So if someone in the distance crashed for slown down, it would be tough to see. So, I haven't seen heat rays in race replays. Maybe in some car shows, but not a race.

there is no reflections on a car from another car.. atleast not in GT1,GT2,GT3, GTC and GT4p.. but it would be cool if it's in GT4 i don't think so tho..

and i'm 100% sure ther are no race games at this moment where you have real time reflection.. but ok what's real time anyway..
a car have a low res reflection map of the whole track if you know what i mean.. ok maybe i can show you with a screenshot..

need to extract GT4p first.. I'll attach it in a hour or so :)

edit* i did extract GT4p but i could not make a screen shot :( what i allready tought.. it will be just black..

if i found some on the web i'll let you know :)

i didnt think there would be. That kinda stuff would bring the ps2 to its knees, imagine a reflection of a reflection of a reflection, bouncing between 2 cars

KY has said it's there, I don't know all the technical details, but when I create a 3d model on my PC I can just give it a reflective property with a click or two of the mouse and it doesn't take much power. It doesn't need a map of all it's surroundings for it to reflect. I don't know how different it would be to do that on the PS2, all I know is that KY said you will be able to see the reflections of opponents cars on yours.

i know what you mean.. but GT4 is way more complex then a litle 3D model.. and to render a litle scene you think it's vast when it's done in 1 sec.. but imagine when you need 60 renders in one second ;) becouse GT has 60fps

Would it be possible to trick a real time reflection by just making the AI cars reflections real time and then use a smalle rotating reflection map that looks similar to the track, like they did in GT3?

Reflections only take into account the objects around them, not other reflections.

From what I've seen in movies and screenshots if that's not real time reflections taking place, it's the best pretend method I've seen yet.
