Question about pre-owned Gran Turismo 5 XL

Ok, I found a used Gran Turismo 5 XL version for only 14 dollars. If i buy a used version of the XL Version can I still download the updates on the XL version?

The game version updates? Yes. You get v2.0 on the disc and will need to download the updates since then in order to be able to play online. Though of course if you already have GT5 and play online, you'll have the more recent updates installed and won't need to download a thing.

What about the DLC, is that on those cards redeemable at the Playstation Store or is it installed on the disk?

The XL version is the best by far in terms of background brightness in the menu and in game. Especially the night / dark weather change tracks.

If the DCL has already been redeemed, it cannot be re-used. Tried it a few weeks ago when I got the latest PS3 slim.

If the PS3 already has the old version in it, you cannot get the disc to overide the previous version with the XL . Tried it twice and now put that PS3 in the living room.

You don't need to redeem codes for game updates. If you're online, the game always checks itself against the most recent version when you boot it up. If it needs an update it asks if you want to install it.

You have a good version then.

Download is a must if the PS3 is connected to the net once you log into the PSN ID. There is a new patch that will accompany the disc updates.

Yes updates are free. DLC is a mix of free cars here and there, but not all.

If the game did not have a Voucher paper, then you do not have the Redeem Codes.

Ok another question, how are the online gameplay? This would be my first racing game and I wanna know if this is the best racing game available for the best price.

The only best experience I have ever had was when drevenger hosted an online shuffle room. Clean races except 1 guy slammed into me once, but that was no biggy as it did not continue. Finding that experience again has been non fruitfull.

The Online Season Games are fun if you choose to run lower Performance Point cars and make it a point to pass cleanly.

To be honest, 23.00 bones for a new one with Voucher is worth it. You get SPA which is a really nice rendition, but I forgot what other cars and stuff you get with it. Memory fails me but they should come with the Touring Cars which is useful on some of the online seasonals and in game. Believe you get the paint package which cannot be re-purchased so use it wisely if you go via the New Disc purchase.

Voucher is good till end of 2014.

You won't get the free dlc with a used copy, just buy a new copy, to buy the dlc alone would cost you almost $20

Use the extra $8: at $23, nothing comes close to GT5 in the bang-for-buck category on PS3 👍
