There are plenty of old Mustangs out there from what I can tell. Yet some people express discontent when somebody decides to give one an all-leccy powertrain as part of a restoration/engineering concept?

You know there's no ethical code one must abide by if they feel like giving the innards of their project Mustang an unique twist, right?
I know you're not responding to me, but it doesn't make sense. It's not aerodynamic and it's relatively heavy.

It doesn't have to make sense. It was simply someone's pet project. Created to show off their ability to give an old pony an electric heart, which they succeeded in doing. They didn't intend for it to be the apex of electric motoring.

I guess for me it just takes away from the original car and that's what I have a problem with. The heart of that car was the peppy V8 and taking that away just ruins it.

From a Brit, i would have prefered keeping a v8 under the bonnet but filling the boot with batteries and adding motors to each wheel. With a switch so engine can be engaged which could be used to charge batteries again using resistance at the wheels. So dual motor keeping everyone happy.

I just can't stand this.

I'm not against doing something unique, but making it an electric car to me is just plain stupid. Electric motors can't do 🤬 compared to gasoline engines.
Have you heard of Lord Drayson and his racing outfit? The ones who made an 800bhp LMP racer powered by electric? Not to mention Tesla, who have done quite well with the model S... Even compared to the Maserati Ghilbis of this world...

At least that Mustang isn't as bad as the solar powered Toyota 2000GT. Honestly out of ANYTHING they could've done this to, a freaking 2000GT?

Then they put hideous wheels on it...
