I was thinking, there aren't enough utes in this thread. Then the Comanche thing was posted. Then I found this.

I think you might want to add a "replace suspension" in your to-do list somewhere as well.
Don't think airbags and 180 spokes would work that well with the few feet of lift that it has going on.

sorry, dude, but the Jeep Comanche is not a ute. it's a Compact Pickup.

there are only 4 or 5 true Utes in the US, and they've all long since been discontinued (they're considered Poser Pickups, here)
Chevy El Camino
GMC Caballero
Subaru Brat
Subaru Baja (is it still in production?)
and a dodge/plymouth version I can't remember the name of

I believe the proper definition of a Ute is a car body with a pickup bed blended into it, right?

I'm pretty sure ute = pick-up in Australia and New Zealand.

How about the:

GMC Sprint
Dodge Rampage ( & Shelby Rampage )
Plymouth Scamp (1983, not the 70's Dart equivelant)
Volkswagon Caddy

Haha I think we get the idea of what a ute is (and there is a thread somewhere for utes) so let's not get too off topic.

It's not off topic, utes belong here because they are questionable .

Eh I don't think they're questionable. I actually think they're pretty cool, unless they're front-wheel drive in which case they are questionable.

Well at least the Insight looks better with stickers on it than the Prius. ;)

my Bad, I forgot about the Ranchero! (waits to get beat up by the ford guys)

thank you to suede for the DCP's. and I know I've never heard of A GMC sprint

Joyey D: used as, but not a "pickup" in the American sense, a Body on Frame shaped like a Brick is generally the definition of a pickup (complete with a primitive suspension, Toyotas nonwithstanding)

as for that cherokee...that's a totally NORMAL modification. if it has a frame and is shaped like a box, SOME guy out there will jack it up through the roof

Because people from other countries have to use American definitions on everything, got it.

a ute is a vehicle with one piece body and bed, a pickup has the bed and cab separate
doesn't matter which part of the world it means the same.
