Questions about Fanetec ClubSport Wheel

I have T500rs and obutoo playseat.

Should I upgrade to Fanetec ClubSport wheel? It seems to me it is not officially supported by GT5? Will it have compatibility issue?

I upgraded from the T500 to the CSW and gt5 works great.
The only issue is reliability

I have a T500 and oButto too. I love the look of the CSW, especially the BMW rim, but I can't see it being worth the extra money... plus of course if GT is concerned, the T500 is the official wheel, so you know you have 100% compatibility. That said, I haven't used a CSW yet, so that's just my take on things.

Maybe you could tell us your likes and dislikes of the T500, than maybe we as a community could tell you in which way the CSW is a different experience in those areas. I think that would be most beneficial to you, cause we could talk all year long about this topic with you not getting much wiser in the areas you wish to gain knowledgeable about.

As LogiForce's post suggests, opinion may vary, depending on user experience and feature priorities...

I owned the CSW, both rims, CSP V.1 with Tuning Kit, and V.2 pedals...
..then I upgraded to a T500.

So in my opinion the T500 is an upgrade from the CSW.

I upgraded from the T500 to the CSW and gt5 works great.
The only issue is reliability

Seems to me that they are not really on different levels, they are just different flavours. You would want a decent amount of disposable income and/or a very specific wish to make the change I would think.

Yeah, I agree with LeMansAid. And let's remember that anyone saying one is an upgrade over the other is giving no more than their opinion. Those should be taken with a grain of salt, in all cases. One man's garbage is another man's treasure, etc. In my opinion, moving from one to the other is more of a sideways move than an up or down move. I can say with some certainty the T500's FFB motor is more reliable than the CSW's motors, but I prefer the wheel rims from the CSW by far. The FFB feel of the wheels is more a subjective thing, and everyone will have their preferences. I also like that Fanatec have easier on-wheel adjustments rather than having to fiddle with a configuration menu, and the fact that they offer fairly frequent firmware updates.

On a side note, I had had 3 separate FFB motor failures with my Elites and CSW before I replaced the FFB motors with Buhler motors (same manufacturer that makes the motor in the T500). Since then, I haven't had any issues at all with anything that wasn't my fault (I did overvolt the wheel on accident with 52VDC instead of 24VDC and fry a transistor on the PCB).

Oh yeah, I am so used to the various adjustment parameters that I take them for granted. I use completely different settings for different games. Also, in a way you may even have better compatibility with Fanatec on PS3 because it acts as a Logitech wheel which may well have wider support than the T500. But again, unless you have something very specific that you want to achieve, you can rest assured that you are well served with what you've got.

I'l clarify my statement, I loved the T500 it was very powerful and very reliable.
But then I seen the CSW on Youtube and fell in love with the BMW rim. I love being able to change the rims and have found myself using the F1 rim more lately with the new F1 seasonal and really love it too now.
The only issue I've had and many others is the reliability of the motors. Personally I've had 7 replacement bases and I think maybe 2 or 3 repaired bases. The last time I opted to do the work myself.
Many a time I had thought "I never had these problems with my T500" "I wish I never sold it"
That being said there have been many more times when I've been using the CSW I just completely love it.
My advice would be if you can afford one and like it that much go for it. There are many that haven't had the issue's I've had.
But if it's just a whim try getting yourself a Sam Maxwell wheel for your T500 They look awesome!

Further on that subject: I'm hoping to have a solution for the CSW and Elite owners soon so they can replace their motors one time and hopefully be done. I heard back from my motor guy the other day, turns out he was out of town.

I wouldn't really call it a whim, I got myself a Sam Maxwell Momo mod 26C and it is kickass all the way. Gives a superior wheel (T500) an incredible upgrade. Check out John Bodin's review Here

I have both the CSW and the T500. I prefer the CSW for the reasons ekretz and Carson mention. That being said the T500 is a great wheel.
