Need some help for a certain race, want some members to help test, or need some tips for certain corners / settings, post here.

Also if you want a general winge about your combo or just some general chat about it, post here.

Me 1st

well i was moaning about not being able to use TCS as the stupid 🤬 RX8 wouldnt turn properly, well i tryed TCS again and figured out a better way to drive it, and im now at 1'02.450, .4 faster than my old dirty time. Aiming for the 1'01's :p

its just too hard to control the power with out TCS, the turbo boost is all or nothing, which makes it impossible to put the power down smoothly. /rant

May i ask each member to know excatly what part of track they are and arnt allowed to drive on. Especially non street tracks. I have no idea why Duke just didnt go with GT.de rules as they are fair and easy to interpret. As we are not running deep forest, grand valley or le sarthe i dont think its cheating :S.

Edit
Here are my settings, if anybody wants to have a crack at it and tell me if they are good or bad, or have any suggestions (please try your suggestion before making it :p ). Possible 1'01.8 if i nailed all corners, but atm im on 1'02.2 (20.665 (seen 20.292) / 46.786)

Good idea for a thread Dion, i'll have a whinge too.

Basically, driving the Clio round autumn ring hasnt really happened for me yet.

I mean, technically, ive done a lap, maybe even two, but i havent driven.

The car has all the weight in the rear, and all the power delivery in the same place, and is positioned on 2 rear glass tyres, with two front tyres made of glue.

I havent tried to dial out the oversteer yet, because i know its a weight at the rear issue, and i havent had time, but if anyone has any tips for sorting a clio out, then speak up!

Please?

hehe

Anyway, im looking forward to concentrating on this "project" over the next two weex, and joining the fastest in the world for a short period of time.

Good luck to all of us!

soften the front springs and harden the rear, try someting outrages like 5 / 15 with front ride height about 5mm higer than rear, and see what happens, i know this will make it less oversteery.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, but check the bc5 final rules thread since there seems to be some rules changing all of a sudden at the last minute. :grumpy:

@Vexd and Small Fryz. My race isn't till the end of Sept. , and there's no setup involved, so I've got time. I'd be glad to lend a hand. Sometimes I have been known to pull out a half way decent setup. ;) I'll get to work tonight, and see what I come with ok?

Re: RX-8 LM, I've driven that one quite a bit for a arcade race @ lesarthe on another board. It's a hell of a car, but real easy to spin if you hit curbs wrong or overdrive it. If I remember right, trail braking works well for it since it doesn't upset balance so much. My 2 cents. But I'll try your setup Dion.

Re: Where to drive and where not to drive. My interpretation is that it is just like WRS. End of tarmac is end of track unless there's a rumble or a line that divides tarmac and extended track/runoff area.

That sounds about right minor, their are 3 places on AR that you cannont drive on, straight after T1 on your left their is a service road or something, you cannot cross that white line with all 4 tires.

on the outside of the 1st left you cannont drive their either. and just before T2 on your right.

Hi guys, just a quick question: Is tranny trick allowed at all?

Tranny trick is OK, always has been in the past since you can adjust it like that in the tuning menu.👍

thx, nice to know about that. I´ve been also figuring out that using the acceleration LSD level in 14, it even avoid wheelspin and don´t change the cornering that much, wich helped me alot in that furious A4 touring car, when i had to balance sometimes the acceleration in some corners. Now, with this LSD set to 14, i don´t need anymore. :)

Just finished my second session with the fire blade at Infineon. Improved by over 8 seconds from my first session. Down to a 2'41.994 for 2 laps. I beat my best hotlap time by .1 down to 1'19.444 which is always good to see in a race with fuel load. Now it's going to be down to tenths and fractions of tenths I believe.
I've been trying to take the fast right kink before the last hairpin without tapping the brake, but just can't seem to pull it off. If it's possible, then the lap times will fall in chunks. 👍 But I've never been able to do it in any car yet. :indiff:

@Small Fryz. I tried your setup and it's good. You've got the understeer dialed out of it well. 👍 I wasn't having much luck with your tranny setup. But then again, my best lap was 1.5 seconds slower than yours too! :O

@Vexd. I've got a halfway decent setup for the Clio I think. It's still got a happy rear end, but better. I'll tinker one more time especially with the weight ballast and gearing. But anyway, it was showing a little life coming out of the corners. I'll post the setup later. Hope you're having better luck with it! 👍

Thanks Minorshunt 👍, ive since fixed the tranny, it goes much better now. still no improvement on my 1'02.2 though. (Edited 1st post with settings update, red is what i changed.

Your times seem very nice 👍, great to see you improving!.

Glad to see you have a good quality save in the bag Mr. Shunt. Now take another .500 off of it.:sly: 👍

I wanted to mention that you should all save at least 2 or 3 runs to fall back on in case you discover one to be dirty at the last minute. If any of you on NTSC need me too have a look at something, just post it here and I'll check it out. If you have PAL we can work something out there most likely also.👍

Everyone keep shaving those laps...every last .001 can matter in a BC race.:scared:

I'm willing to view any PAL replays to give drivers a 2nd opinion if they think its close!
:)

So far I have not beat 1.05.0 in my combo :indiff: I was hoping someone like Holl01 maybe Hotboi or CFM would run a few laps and let me know how competitive my lap is? If they drop into the 1.04's within an hour then i'm way off the pace and need to go back to the drawing board :dopey:

I would appreciate it 👍
Ron.

I can give it a crack tomorrow morning maybe, but seeing as how I'm always way behind everyone at Midfield I doubt it will give any real insight to how good your run is.:O You'd probably be better of with hot, holl, veil or fryz. But I'll try to find a few moments if you need it.👍

BTW, what's your top speed setting at?

hi mate thanks 👍 all comparing is good to me .... i'm @ 290 top speed
280 was too short and 300 way too long for end bend imo :indiff:

290 is his top speed.

Thanks for mentioning me amogst those names 👍, but im afraid i dont think id be able to hit a 1'04 :(.

Edit, didnt see Ron's post, should refresh before i post :dunce:

Glad to see you have a good quality save in the bag Mr. Shunt. Now take another .500 off of it.:sly: 👍

I'm tryin' boss. I'm tryin'! :D

And I would like to make the same request as Mr. P. I'm not sure how fast a time is possible, so would appreciate it if h0t or Veil or CFM could find the time to give it a quick go and post their replay for me to review. 👍

I know it's a lot to ask, but you guys have big shoulders right?

Hey Mr. P, i had some 20 mins or less go in your try and i´ve got 1'05.268, altough i think 1'04 would be possible someway, at least a 0.2 i could shave off.

T1 - 20.370
T2 - 39.7xx

but your time is very good. I think a 1'04.9 would be near the limit already. ;)

Looking for a small bit of assistance with my combo (Accent RC @ Swiss Alps, -10% weight, 290 km/h) if someone doesn't mind. I've got 3 laps saved.. 1'29.1, 1'29.2 and another 1'29.2.. a difference of .102 between all 3, but I'm almost positive a 1'28 exists somewhere, I just haven't hit it yet. Wondering if someone would give my combo a small run and see if my time is any good. Thanks in advance. 👍

Thanks for running a few laps guys 👍 even though 5 laps is a bit paltry from hot :sly: you wont beat me that quick mate! .... even though I know you fast as **** 👍 and could do it with ease ;)
I just wanted to know if it was a task to match for the faster drivers of the team .... no doubt with a good hour a piece then you guys would be dipping into the 1'04,s

I heard through the grapevine that a rival driver is already in the 1'04.8's so I know now for sure that my lap is only worth about 4th if I'm lucky! I will just have to keep at it ..... tried the DFP earlier and could not beat 1.05.2 so it looks like I'm back to the DS2 and just run until I get lucky.

Thanks again for testing for me guys 👍

@Z I will run a few laps on the Alps combo tomorrow and see what I can manage even though I cant rally in GT4 for **** ... I'll put about 1 hour in and see what I can get .... not as good there as I was in GT3 :indiff:

laters
Ron.

@Vexd. Put a little time into a setup for that little french number you're flogging. :dopey:
Give it a try and see what you think. I did about 10 laps back to back and was in the 37.7 to 37.8 range mostly. Best was 37.650. I know you will do a lot better!
But anyway, a lot of the oversteer is gone, although I left some in for the triple apex combo to be able to throttle steer. The power seems to go down pretty good too.

BB: 3/3

Auto 12 (only 3 gears needed. 2,3, and 4)
DA: 0/0/1
DF: 30/30(didn't mess with this at all)
LSD: 5/7/26

At first I was running 15kg ballast at -50, but it really doesn't seem needed now.

Need to really brake early enough, and put the power down earlyish too. It will take it. 👍 Throttle steering is great in this car! If you want it to pivot faster, you can back off on the deaccel setting on the LSD. Once you get the feel for it you'll probably take off all DA, but I couldn't drive the thing consistent enough without it.

Hope this helps mate. 👍

And now.....back to my lovely little Caterham. :)

Z, Post up your replay here, and I'll give it a chase to see if I can beat it, that way I can send the faster lap back for you to chase. If I can beat it at all, that is. Same for you too Mr. Shunt. Hope I can get some time to do it. Androos is free if you'd like some comments from him also, but I think he's on a PAL system.

I ran some laps in Z's combo and its really horrible :yuck: the car needs too much braking to be controllable!
the S bend after the bridge is hard to drive through and the car spins eratically when the slightest bit of power is put on in that S bend

I gave up after 10 laps on a 1.30.7 ...... more is there with effort but I really hate this car at this track and refuse to run anymore :dopey: If it was controllable I would have run more ..... but my patience is thin with this combo

1.29.1 looks like a great time and if Z can pull of a 1.28 I would say he has a decent finish in store at the results 👍 Good luck mate! Keep at it :)

Ron.

Hey guys could some of you do a run in my combo, just for me to have some reference?

I´ve been able for a 5'39, i am in the 5'40 house now. But 39 is just what i will get soon or later. :)

@Mr P: Thanks for giving it a go! I believe I made a major mistake with 290 gearing at first. I switched to 210 gearing last night and shaved .3, placing me at 1'28.8. Can see 1'28.5 if I got an awesome start (18.4-5 @ T1). The trick for me was to use a higher gear when the car seemed to be revving high but not really going anywhere. Used 5th gear for the first right, 4th for the section just before the bridge, etc. Since the car doesn't like to turn much under power, I have to place the rear tires in the grassy areas to get it to rotate well and carry speed, but it works.

@CFM: Thanks! The replay is attached below (in another post). Beat my lap and edited this post.

@Small Fryz: Tested your combo and barely got under 1'03 after 5 laps or so. Could not come within .5 of your T1.

WOOT!!!

Every cloud has a silver lining! Bunged up my back but good Thursday, and am restricted to the easy chair for the next few days. Kinda sucks, but as long as I can't do anything else right now.......You asked me for .500 Todd, and I just got that and more! Absolutely demolished the last race time I posted by .727. So down to 2'41.267. :) 👍

Here's my replay. Could someone check out the exit at the downhill right after T1 on lap 1? It is very close to off. I haven't been able to catch a photo showing that it is off, but it's damn close. Hard to see 'cause the right side is in the air. :D I'm pretty sure I can match my time if it's dirty, but it would be nice to have a nice fast one tucked away on my 'puter.

Also Here's my best hotlap if you get time to chase it CFM.

I know I made a couple errors worth .2, and now I'm gonna try and get a sub 2'41. :trouble: But happy now. Never thought I would get this low.

Man, you weren't kidding when you said close. Judging by the shadow over the yellow and the direction of the car, I'd say this is clean, but this is about the best shot of it I could get in PhotoMode:

As for your hotlap, I just chased it and while I can't seem to stay off the curbs and keep up with him, I see a little time to come.

That right immediately after T1.. I was able to keep it in second gear there. I wasn't close enough to see if I was actually gaining on you, but possibly some time there. Another .15 or so if you don't get loose on the next right-hander and maybe .25 if you can tidy up your final corner. Maybe 1'18.5 in total I can see, but it is a nice lap and definitely suited for DFP drivers, IMO.

Hope your back heals soon. 👍

Thanks Z. 👍 Your pic matches about the best I could get also. I am really hoping not to have to use this race, cause I don't want any questions at all! But I think it's clean. If it were a WRS event, I'd just toss it, but.....a little more at stake here.

And thanks for the tips. You say you kept it in second on the downhiller? I will definitely try that. You are right about the next right hander, it is tough to get through fast. In fact I've been working on a fast drift through there. And of course the last turn was way wide, so yeah you're right. 1'18.5 is possible in hotlap. Probably 1'18.7 in race mode.

My back will be fine. Thanks! Did too much moto, 4-wheeler and snowmobile racing (crashing) in my younger days. So I pay for it now. It was worth it. 👍
