Yes it would be good but if they did put it in let us have the ability to chose the colours because there were some crap auwful schemes in GT2.

totally agree, some were just...........fill the blank....................awful!

I miss the race mod. It spiced up a boring car, into something different, and made race cars out of road cars.

Somehow, I doubt we'll see them in GT4. If there wasn't room (?) in GT3 for them, I don't see how PD is going to cram 300 more cars, twice the tracks, and all the racing we've had beforehand and still have room for entirely different bodies for many of the road cars and fit that all on a single disc.

There is an easy way out for PD: remove a few Lancer, a few Skyline, the muscle cars , the drag tracks and... voila some free Mbytes for the mods.

I enjoyed the race mod option in GT2, and I would like to see it make a comeback in GT4. However, if I had my choice, I'd rather be given the freedom to slowly add those individual modifications than simply click a button and have it all done for me. I may not want all the things offered in a full race mod upgrade. For example, I don't care for many of the paint schemes or sponsor stickers. I'd like to be able to pick and choose.

I'd say that once again they'd be a permanent thing. I mean they're not just a few pieces stuck on, they're a very fundamental change to a lot of aspects of the car, it's not the easiest of reversible processes. But hey, maybe you will be able to deselect them like most other upgrades.
agreed in reality... for my thought for the game i was indicating this be more of just a pure game option. It's on, it's off... like most of the parts in GT thus far. 👍

Space is not an issue, you've been told this before and had it explained why. PD should not remove any cars and tracks including the muscle cars and drag strip.

Racing modification needs to come back, especially since used cars make it in. That way, I could make a race car out of, say, an FC3 RX-7, or an R32 Skyline.
They should be irreversible as well.
But I should still have to pay huge money to purchase actual race cars or win them in championships, like GT3.

I'm a little devided on this. I don't mind them coming back but I'd prefer if they left the "rice" out. By that I mean for example the NASCAR (can't remember the exact car) mod in GT2 for a car that was still FF and low powered... It was kinda sad...

So I'd rather PD stuck to original kits ONLY.

Still... If they suck I simply wont use them. But it's a shame to have a feature they spent time and effort on that you don't want to use.

.

It's not clear to me what you mean by "original kits" ?
Do you say that for example the Toyota Celica should have only mod parts from TRD, Mitsu from RallyArt, Honda from Mugen etc ...

I should have said "mod". But what I mean is... The race mod should not be the same as a real racing car. Or more importantly a real racing car that WASN'T made from a stock car. However having the race mod in the car company racing colours would be fine. I.E. Mazda cars in the almost patchwork colours their MazdaSPEED racing cars tend to have.

It just feels kinda nasty to drive a car that's trying to look like something it isn't.

hell yea i hope race mods will come back.
but like it was posted before manufactuer mods.
also i think u should be able to make your own paint job like a spoon graphics on honda integra.
i think it will liven up the game and make it more visually pleasing.

Ditto x 10 Bajillion. My God. Some people.....

Of course I want the "[R]" modification back!

Large bodykits, weird paintjobs, and a gigantic spoiler on my 1993 Civic Sedan...good memories. :D

I think a good majority of what I had to note was based on PS2 game "Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3." People say what they wanted about the game, but it has some features kind of what GT4 will have. One of the more notable features is being able to paint up your car any way you like. The TXR3 thread in the Gaming/Playstation 2 forums had some rather interesting paint jobs to the cars. The unique thing about the Tokyo Xtreme Racers was that you could find any part to your car and do whatever you want. Pick body parts that helped your car to no only look unique, but get that race car look and feel. And even if you wanted to stay stock, you can still carbon up your body and go with the original paint. At least you'll have a lighter car to work with to make upset after upset.

And I think the "original kits" deal either refers to generic GT or manufacturer paint schemes, or any styles totally apart from the normal car. And a great example was that NASCAR-ized Ford Taurus modification. And I'm sick of talking about it, but you can't take a economy car and make it into something like a Nextel Cup car. They are rear-wheel drive, with V8 motors, no lights, no doors... instead, PD wanted to make it real. I respect the effort, but stock cars were never designed for pure road racing. And lightening all the weight is just money down the drain. Should have been sold as a special model if they wanted to be serious about a stock car body kit. So for the last time, ECONOMY CARS SHARE VERY LITTLE WITH RACING STOCK CARS! And people talk about glorifying the Mini Cooper and Toyota Supra like in the media. Hell, they don't even know what they're talking about. And one more thing, ugliest paint scheme I've ever seen in GT = the multicolor scheme for the Honda Del Sol. And if something's going to be a special model, at least be able to paint it up.

You are able to swap engines in that game too. That's one thing that would be realistic, as there are lots of Miata's running around here with V8's dropped in them.

Can someone explain exactly what a race mod is? I never had the opportunity to play GT2 or GT1 and I don't really know what this feature is. Thanks

Racing mods in GT and GT2 were basically an option to put full racing decals and racing body work on most regular road cars, this also allowed for the adjustment of the car's front and rear downforce.

A race mod is basically a way expensive usually 85000 if i reember correclty, mod that changes your car into a race car, the oustide get sa new racing paint job with all the decals, the wings, skirts kits (whatever a real raace car looks like) It also changed the handling of the car, and made it a little lighter, it would basically be anythign that you woul dhave to do to take your street can and make it into a full on race car, gut it, but a cage in it

I really hope this made it back in, I used to love buying random cars in gt2 just to see their race mod

Problem is that half the time they look kinda lame. Especially if you're just buying a random car to see what they llok like with a racing modification, because then you've wasted your money.

I think racing mods are key to GT. In GT2 you could take your car from being stock and slow all the way up to a full racing car. In GT3 the car hit the performance ceiling much earlier due to missing the added downforce that the [R] modifications brought.

I'll be totally satisfied if they make the [R] mod available for cars that really have race versions (SCCA, Lemans, etc). 👍

BTW, the Taurus SHO in GT2 with the [R] mod that tried to look like a NASCAR was slightly weak in that it was FWD, but dont mistaken, the SHO versions of the Taurus are hardly slow and were pretty badass for their time. That SHO with the NASCAR mod does have a V8 stock, a 3.4L making 235hp to be precise. And did ya know the original SHO's which came out in '88 had 220hp 3.2L V6's? That was a hulluva lot of hp for a sedan back then... one could even say they were one of the pioneers of the sports sedan. So just make sure you give credit where credit is due. :)

no, they're not welcomed. we don't need ricers adding body kits to slow\piece of crap cars.

if your car doesn't come with a race modification, it doesn't need it.

It was to make the car look like an actual proper racing car, one that you'd take to a track, not a street racing car that some poser has added a few pieces to to make it look tougher.
