"Race saves" (1.10 patch) Biggest disapointment in my life.

Hi dudes, i think i as many other people really were looking forward for the race saves so you could start doing the 24 hour races.. But that is not how PD wished things to be. What is the meaning of making championship saves as there aint any championship that is so long that you need to turn off your ps3? I'd rather have it for le mans and so.

Imo its useless but i want to hear your opinion. :)

i am not going to stress out my console for that long hours. so, for me to have this save option is great. Money is hard to earn and I am not making a YLOD to my wishlist so soon. good luck to you

As much as I hate to say it, maybe the enduros are best left alone, after all, it's hardly fair to those who've done them in the present format.

In terms of development, I wonder if Sony still see the GT series as the flagship title it once was - seems to me it's been starved of funds over the last cycle, considering how little actual improvement they made in the time they had. So maybe they ought to overhaul the team and see what happens in terms of updates.

i have enuf money for GT5. what i meant was real money is hard to earn. without saves around, probably my console is going to be stress bcoz of 24hr race. and i dont want to do that

Do you know what can be great for enduro/saves, imo? To have timed saves. :dopey:
What I mean by that is the following: for example you play the enduro for 4 hours. Then you have 2-3 laps where you have the save option active. If you pass the save laps you have another 4 hours ahead. If you however wanna save at that time when you save the game a counter is switched on - you have 8/12 hours to resume the race or you have to restart it. :dopey: 💡
Xuxu, xoxo.

yeah i think not much people have 24 hr to kill man! Finding 4 to 6 hours in the week end is already difficult in particular if u got a family..

The same was said for the Vettel challenge, and the license tests, but they made those easier.

Even the seasonal events got ridiculously easy after people complained enough.

Nothing is beyond PD's tweaking for the sake of ease in this game it seems.

PD know how to implement in race saves, they've done them before! When Kaz said they were working on it I assumed Endurance saves would take priority over championship saves (as there are a few long enduro's but not many long championships). I'm not complaining, but it's probably the only dissapionting thing about the latest update. Otherwise 1.10 is the best patch yet.

Have they? When?

I remember mid-championship saves, not mid-race saves... but in my defence I'm getting older...

I think the chance to save during championships is a very useful feature. Sometimes I just want to run them again with my favourites cars but don't have time to race all the events. You have to understand it's not championship saves fault if they didn't add endurance saves. It's just a weird decision by PD or maybe they are working on it.

The Championship save will be useful to me. I have the Nascar & FTG to finish, so this morning I'm going to do the first FTG then save it for later.

I'm with you OP. Championship saves are great. But I thought part of the challenge of the championships is to do them in one sitting. There is no impractical championship race. 24 hour races not practical. I was very disappointed as well. I would trade all these suits and helmets just for an endurance save.

Agreed!

In terms of games GT5 has been the most disappointing.Good driving feel, nice graphics but that's it.And that seems to be the template/inspiration for the updates as well.

I jumped for joy too soon when I saw the update description as I was waiting to do the 24hr LeMans. I had started it numerous times and quit after a few laps. With the real 24 hr. LeMans race coming up, I decided to do it...with the Vettel Prototype. On my 5th hour, brights are on, ferris wheel is running, leading by 30 laps, and on pause in the pits at the moment. Seriously thinking of quitting as it's gonna be 97º today. I don't want to fry my PS3.
BTW, I'm math-challenged but I figure I can park after 17 hrs. and still win?
:dunce:

Erm...no?
Gold times for S.Vettel challenge aren't changed;
Only the S licences (and the licences which involved racing) got easier (but they were very easy before);
Were seasonals ever hard to begin with? And now you have these new seasonals. You want hard - you get hard, quit whining.
I hate when average players complain about average events' bronze/silver times beeing easy. Do you want it to be hard? Go for the golds then.

And on topic, adding in-race saves would be unfair to people who completed the enduros. Why should you complete 24h of Le Mans in 3 hours every day when I did it in one go? You're not special, do it like every normal guy did, if you don't have time don't do them - simple as that.

Adding championship saves is unfair to people that already completed the championships.

It's not all about you man, a lot of people are in the same boat as OP. Let me remind you what we all expected: https://www.gtplanet.net/in-race-game-saves-coming-to-gran-turismo-5/

I would have done the races the hard way myself. But that news told me that I could wait.

Erm... Yes.

I'm sure those who accomplished the old bronze & silver times
felt a little disheartened when their accomplishments were lessened by easier times.
Hell, I couldn't bronze any of the Vettel challenges until they lowered the time,
and somehow I feel as though that accomplishment has been cheapened a bit because of it.

The same with the license tests.
I only got gold on S after they made it easier, and the same goes for the Rome 2-lap license test.
That you found them "very easy" speaks to your skill level,
but since I'm not you, my experiences with them was vastly different.

And just because I'm an "average player" doesn't make my opinions any less valid than yours.
I wasn't "whining", I'm simply stating my view of things.

The first few seasonals were hard, and I never did win any of them,
then people said they were too hard, and the easy, credit fest seasonals came.
I haven't won any of the new ones yet, but I won't complain they're too hard,
because they're not, I'm just not good enough to beat them yet. ;)

And this all relates to the topic of the championship game saves taking a bit of the accomplishment factor away from the game.
I found the time to complete the FGT champ. races in both A & B spec, and felt I had actually accomplished something difficult,
much as those who have done the enduros must feel.
To add these saves cheapens that experience for me in a way.

may i ask what your status is? how old are you? do you live with your parents or do you have your own place? do you work or go to school? are you married? have any kids?

also, when you did the 24 hour races, did you do them in one straight shot, or did you play for several hours, pause it, then pick it up the next day?

like many other gt5'ers, i have a wife, baby, job, mortgage, etc. i'm lucky if i can find any time during the week to play and i might get 4-6 hours on the weekend. while i'm not like some others who won't leave their ps3 on overnight for fear of the ylod, i'm not going to leave it on and paused for a few weeks straight just so i can complete one race, especially since i wouldn't be able to do anything else like race with friends online or watch movies on netflix. but i did pay the same $60 as you did for the game, so i should be able to enjoy all the same aspects of the game as you.

What patch lowered the times for racing license tests and Vettel? Haven't worked on those in a while. Thanks

Surly you jest.
If not, you must have a pretty paradisiacal exsistence.

GT5 is what you want it to be.
:odd:
This guy Yev must be over there with you too.

I have over 800 wins and I'm at 38/33. I'm just taking it easy, not rushing. I don't play for leveling up - I just play for myself. If I feel like driving - I just drive, if I feel like tuning - I just tune, if I feel like taking pictures - I take pictures and so on.
Don't let GT5 become a chore, remember - GT5 is what you want it to be.
No I think forza 4 is what I want gt5 to be. Oh and badmitton or how ever its spelled thats a sport? You actually have a season in that? I love that top gear pic/parody with grieson on it that makes me laugh, I havent been on here long (and unfortunately Im just not liking the game too much) but thats the only fun thing Ive experienced since starting gt5. Ok guys Im going to go play some forza. If anyone is up for it though im thinking of holding a vw microbus rally race tonight at 13pm (utc-25).
