When you buy multiple packs at the same time that share content, it automatically reduces the price of the packs you add later, so if you add the online racing pack first, then the Porsche pack, your cart total will go up by less than the sum of the prices, not only because of the VRP bulk discount, but because the 911 Cup cars are common to both packs.

Guess I learned something new today. Based on what you've implied, the checkout should have been MYR266.14 (£47.22), but it's reduced by MYR 207.74 (£36.86) (22%) instead!

This is the big problem with the game, buying content is a minefield! You can also buy VRP on its own that is currently discounted as well, 5000 is currently 39.99 euros... I'd also get hit with a foreign currency fee here though.

Track limits in Raceroom are super tight, much tighter than other sims I have played. I have to relearn my lines to avoid getting pinged all the time, I don't want those incident points to rack up online! Struggling to get a clean lap even in quali at Zolder right now :(

The funny thing about track limits, is that I'm getting the impression that they're putting "open-wheeler" rules for all classes regardless if going beyond a kerb is a thing for the respective classes or not.

It's even funnier when those RaceRoom "stores" out here have a different set of track limits where:
  • If you go off course or beyond a kerb a little too much, it would give you a warning only.
  • And if you go off course for too long, it would penalize your time instead of deleting it!

Could you imagine the happiness I got when I found out that I could go through the kerbs like in ACC, and be faster thanks to it?

Zolder at peak hours is a bit of a nightmare :( I kinda out qualified my pace in the Audi, no clue where the lap came from, but I don't sdeem to be able to get the car working in the race, it is great off the start though! 3 races doner, no less than 20 incident points per race, reputation in tatters! This is a different strory to the Salzburgring, and back to good ole wham bam online races!

Need to get off the start and runaway in this one!

Dave Cam, has a vid up showcasing the race, off peak looks much nicer!

Same race from another point of view here

Gave Zolder a try with the touring car daily race (Using the Volvo). The track limits are real and painful, but what I really need learning is to get used with the "Factory ABS" on some cars. I got too used with giving it 100% for years, and this might be the incentive to factor my inputs seriously for once. Still, I should be installing a custom HUD at this point too.

On the other end of content, I bought the hypercar pack along with the online pack too. It's really strange that I had to refer to a YouTube video on how to get the thing to start manually. Still ,I think it can be a hoot to drive once I get used to the weight and brakes from this thing.

£rd part overlay stuff...

Web hud

this has the link to the dash.exe that you need to run for these things to function.

Rehud

Seal Hud

You need to put something in Raceroom launch settings on steam to launch the webHUD, you also need to download Crewchief to get them to work, there is a check box that needs to be ticked somewhere in the options.

I am using Sealhud, I havent tried rehud.

Edit

LMDH drivers briefing not bought them so have no clue how they work, other than they are complicated!

Another Edit

Super Touring is much nicer off peak, had 3 races where I gained rep :o

For what it's worth, I drove against Tim Heinemann's ghost in his challenge time trial, and he wasn't generally pushing the track limits. There are places where you could save time using more kerb, when you're going fairly straight over it, but most of the kerbs I feel the loss of traction makes it not worth it anyway.

While I'm no expert at this game, my understanding is "Factory ABS" just means whatever the car has in the real world, which in many cases is no ABS at all. It's definitely way harder to drive these cars, at least it certainly is when using a controller trigger for braking, but it's also way harder for even skilled drivers to drive non-ABS cars in real life, e.g. if you watch Misha Charoudin, he comments on it basically every time someone gives him a car without ABS. Cars with ABS in real life, e.g. GT3, are much easier to drive, as they're intended to be able to be driven by "gentleman" drivers.

The free to play race this week is the Audi DTM 2016 at Hockenheim GP, the BMW and Mercedes can also be used, but they are not F2P. Not run that one yet, cars are a bit fast for my old brain to deal with ;) and I have to learn the drs rules for the class…

I have done a couple of Super Touring races at Nurburgring Sprint (fast chicane) better than last week, but still a race to avoid if you value your reputation!

There is a small discount on the hypercar pack now, still to rich for my blood though as not a car I will really use!

They now have 2 F2P races for those wanting to try the game for noiwt.

Audi TT Cup – Falkenberg
Every half hour (--:20, --:50) LB fixed setup
Silhouette Series – Portimao GP
Every half hour (--:30 LB fixed setup

Note the TT cup has a push 2 pass function that you need to map a button for, the youtubers don't seem to know this ;)

Looks like I raced Broadbent last week, I was driving the Volvo 850 in the first race, I hadn't figured out my braking point for the first corner, was always a little too deep :(

Noticed a significant shortcoming in the game last night. I tried the M2 CS time trial around Nordschleife, and on Get Real, the car was undriveable, at least with a controller. It was very prone to getting into unrecoverable slides. I played around with deliberately provoking a slide then countersteering, and even though I was anticipating and expecting the slide, and instantly countersteering, there was no bringing the slides back. I tried on Amateur instead, which sets Stability to Low (vs Off with Get Real) and the car was fine.

Now, in AC EVO, even without any artificial assists, you get ABS, TC and Stability with this car, and can adjust the strength of all 3 individually, because the real car has all 3. What RaceRoom really needs to is to bring Stability to the same level as ABS and TC, i.e. Get Real should give you factory stability, just like it gives you factory ABS and TC. The car is extremely easy to drive in AC EVO using only the factory driving aids, which is why the undriveability of it in RaceRoom immediately got me looking for the reason for the difference.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, there's a good video here where Ben Collins (former Stig on Top Gear) talks to GamerMuscle, and they are in agreement about how fake these unrecoverable slides are in "sims" (I've never personally had an unrecoverable slide with a real car in my entire life):

Copy paste from the discord, Praga is the f2p combo, silhouette series is base content as well I believe.

The Super Tourers are a blast (for the most part) in ranked servers. I can't believe no other developer has thought about including this golden era class into their sim, but I'm very glad R3E gets what true enthusiasts want. The races are just as tight (and as chaotic) as they were IRL back in the day. Look at old videos of BTCC and STW and you know what I mean.

Now, the modelling of the cars themselves, some of them anyway, could use some improvement, but other than that. Perfection.
