Sony W6 series has the lowest input lag. But all W models is under 20 ms with leo bodnar input lag tester which is where it truly doesn´t matter.
I benched my current W6 against my XL2410T and as expected they where just about identical regarding input lag.
I had the R473 before but it has some 40ish in input lag not horrible but not as good in that regard. W656 does have much deeper blacks and more options for calibration. I do feel it is a clear step up in home conditions. I have some problem with clouding though.
W802 is actually less liked but if I would go for a triple monitor setup I would probably go with it due to it being ips with better viewing angles. S-PVA requires you to sit in the center which is fine for a cockpit and a single monitor to get the most out of it.
How W9 fares I don´t know. I would think the passiv 3D filter may actually cause some blur but of course it has an even higher version of the motionflow and other upgrades that may compensate.
As for the led control I had no success at all with that on the R473a. It´s more effective on the W6. It dims the image heavilly and you just can´t compensate fully for it even if you can get a long way with adjusting gamma, increase brightness, contrast, backlight and also adjust gamma in your video card setting. Of course all this destroys the real image quality but it does give the sense of smoother motion. The Sonys are relatively fast like this years samsungs at 9 ms in respons time. I don´t get the trails of my old 16 ms sony at all and while it´s not as fast as my plasma of course it´s not something that bothers me to much. So I don´t know if I will use this led control setting.
I suspect it will be switched off like all "picture enhancers"... They kind of never ever work for my eye but at least lightboost is not all ********
... Anyway it´s a nice tv I would never go back to my 24" monitors.
I have my tv 1,5 metre away and my 320 mm rim integrate very nicely in the cockpits. Sure would perhaps have to have it at 0,5 metres to get close to natural size of the windshield but the 1080p resolution is not quite enough. rFactor 2 works nicely at 1,5 metres though you will get more sharpness by moving it even further away so there is a cost but it´s so worth it.
