my freind claims to have seen a 117-nighthawk- and he knows alot about planes so im guessing he's right! what have you seen?

i've seen a jaguar plane, well it had jaguar written on the side in the style of the car company, so i take it that it was their plane. it was taking off from edinburgh airport.

Hmm....

I've seen all sorts of cool stuff.

There used to be almost daily flyovers of a Beech Starship where I live, so due to the structural problems they're having now, I can say that the starship is somewhat rare.

I've seen an AT-6 "Texan" up in the sky a couple times.

I've seen the local news helicopter.

...And that's about it.

EDIT: Well, I've seen some fighter jets fly overhead when President Bush was coming here for the '04 debates...

I've seen a B2 bomber flying off in the distance. It was supposed to fly overhead but storms were moving in, not at an air show, but at a different event at WPAFB. The B2 was supposed to land there but instead circled around about 5 miles out and went off to another base. I can't remember if I've seen one flying up close, but it's something to see. Those planes are still extrememly rare to see flying.
My dad watched as an SR-71 Blackbird flew over Dayton and landed at the airforce base to be placed in the museum back in the 80s That was a one time event. Who here has seen a Blackbird fly over their house? No one? Didn't think so. Too bad I wasn't born yet.

Well, there is this big plane that looks like an old Bomber that flys by. If I hear it, I'll try and get a picture. We never get anything else.

Hmm I work in a control tower. Last week alone I saw the Blue Angels(F-18's), an F-14, T2's, T6's, T39's, a DC-9, and an H3. A few more, but I can't remember.

I saw a B2 last year, and usually, I can see some Apaces and squadrons of F-18s since I live next to a naval base and a joint forces training base.

I used to see F-18s fly by all the time, afterburners and all :)
I think I may have seen a C-17 or some other LARGE millitary aircraft.

I've seen stunt planes flying over my area a few times. Usually around the Clipsap 500 time, so I figue they're practicing for their stunts during the event.

I see (, hear and feel) F16's fly over our house.
I live near the border with the Netherlands, so the turning makes extra noise.

I've also seen a couple of Agusta helicopters a few weeks back circling over our town. Guess they were having a military practise in the forest. My dad also saw a couple of fully camouflaged military jeeps that day.

Also seen other helicopters fly over, small and big.

And my dad also saw the plane with the big mushroom on top which monitors germany during the WC06

My all time highlight is still back when I was in 1st - 3rd grade, at the school, we saw squadron of JASDF F-4 EJs flying by. I still have not seen anything that can top that one.

I've seen the new Airbus fly to Heathrow from Bristol because I live in Bath which is near Bristol and coincidently I was in Bristol on the day it flew over.

Only 1 made I think I win

Probably the DC-3/C-47 Dakota/Skytrain/whatever you want to call it, only two of them in flying condition in this country. Quite a glorious sight and the sound is great when compared to the modern planes. Those really were the days.

Yes, I'm a guy who likes the old propeller aircraft over the new jets, they had style that will never be matched again.

Outside of airshows, let's see:
  • The 747-based Air Force One, flying in to the local ANG base
  • Marine One (Presidential helicopter), when Clinton spoke in HdG Maryland
  • A Republic Seabee, making a water landing
  • North American T28 (been up in that one, too)
  • Lockheed P-38 'Droop Snoot' reconnaissance/bomber version of the fighter, with a glass nose
  • PT-17 Stearman

Oh wow...

That's quite the list.

You've got a really good eye to tell which variant they are. :scared:

I'm kinda with you there. While I love jets and jet fighters, they will never match the beauty of WWII classics in my eyes. Zeros, Spitfires, BF-109, Hellcat. I love planes from both sides of that war. Even the one that nuked my country, B-29, sure is a beautiful plane.

P-38s are so cool and unique. I went to the aviation museum in Seattle a while back. When I heard that you can walk thru the retired Air Force One, I was really excited. As I'm imagining the Harrison Ford's Air Force One, I walk into it, and what a shock!, it was tiny and somewhat cheap in there. I believe it was JFK's though, so it was really old. :D

I am quite jealous of you guys, I havent seen anything real special outside airshow type events.

High-Test
I guess....

WPAFB.. Which one is that?
Wright patterson Air Force Base, its in ohio

A B2 bomber at the dodge savemart nascar event last year, flew right over me!

I was sitting right were I circled it, flew maybe 500-800 feet above me

Speaking of Air Force One, G-Dub made a speech at WPAFB (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base)--I guess it was actually off the base, at the museum--a few years back, and my dad and I attended. We saw Air Force One fly overhead, circle around and land off in the distance at the actual base, then we saw his motorcade drive right in front of us. Well, about a uhndred feet away, but you get the idea. Funny thing though, his limousine had a dummy doll in it, and George himself stepped out, almost unnoticed, from an anonimous armored Suburban. The gig was replete with snipers standing up on platforms in the middle of the crowd. I still have the ticket, and I plan on keeping it.

Wright-Patt also has quite the collection of retired Air Force Ones. They're housed in hangars right across from the main museum. It's been over 5 years since I'ce seen it and I don't remember what planes are there, but I do remember seeing more than a couple propeller driven planes. THere was a Harrier in there too, I'm not sure why.

But back to flyovers and stuff, I've seen B1s (thunderous with the 'burners going), a B-52, two F-22s accomplanied by two F-16s, three Blackhawks that practically landed in the stands (It's almost scary how quite those huge choppers are), and all the other usual jets and helicopters.

I live with 30-45 minutes from there...so everything there...

Too many to list :P

Favorites: YF-22, SR-71, A-10, F-4, 707 Air Force One, P-51, F-117, and on and on and on I'd go.....

Ooooh!! Is there anything there in Hanger 18 on the base you guys think?! :)
