Well like I wasn't basing my numbers on "in class" campisons, but full on comparisons on every level.
I still like the way I did it, but to stick with the general trend, Im gonna say a couple of overly-generalized comments about the last car...
s2000 v-type
Great handling. Good power. Bad torque. Great looks. Awesome balance.
I would rate the s2000 as an 80 on a scale of 1 to 100.
However, what does that mean... not much of anything since 100 has no meaning without a base of comparison.
So, this is why I said to do away with in class comparos and keep to a total comparo.
With an in class comparo, whose gonna say what class the s2000 ends up in. fr w/ under 600 hp? fr w/ under 300hp? fr fully maxed regardless of power?
So where does it fall?
How do you grade something 1-100 when you have no base of comparison?
Do you grade on what you would expect/ hope for?
In that case the s2000 would get a nasty grade due to it's serious flaw: no torque. Or what about the lack of adjustable down force in a world where the evo 6 is right next store.
In all, if you want an in-class, I would grade the s2000 more harshly just because it is no longer being held to a comparison of how good a car it is overall, but how good a car it is in the league of awesome sports cars.
