There's a theard like this in the gt2 forum so I figured let's try it in the gt3 forums.
I'll change the rules a bit, if there's a car you want to be rated before you go out and buy it, just post it's name here. Then someone will rate out of 100, then say why it was rated that way.
Here's the first one:Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR T.M.E.

I give the Evo a 85. It has the looks and the speed, but the handling is not the best.

Here's mine Skyline GT-R R34

As a standard car expensive compared to the Evo's and Impreza's but it has alot of tuning potential and will take on plenty of the road and rally races. Some people migth notlike the car that much but the fact is it can win races with ease and if you know how to set a 1000Bhp 4wd car up properly, it's good to drive as well. There are better cars, but for under 60,000Cr the Evo's and Impreza's may keep up stock, but they have no where near the tuning potential.

89/100

I'll try the TVR Tuscan speed 6

TVR Speed 6

I give this car a 91/100 for a production car - Lightweight, nimble, Stable with tuning, and extremely unmatched by any "production based cars in GT3". FR setup gives it an incredible advantage. . . and it is extremely fun to drive. It can also take on cars with as much as 200hp past it tuning capacity with the proper driver in the seat :D

Next car is the Vertigo :D

Its redeeming trait is that it's stupidly light... you can almost feel it floating while you drive it. It also has very good handling, although it can annoyingly understeer in lower-speed corners, and backing off the throttle doesn't help much (you usually have to knock on the brake a bit). However, it's mostly a good handler, and very easy to get along with.

That makes up the bulk of the grade... minus a few for the weak engine, and minus a few for the boot styling.

Next up: Nissan Z Concept Car (aka 350Z)

RUF RGT

90/100 - Once you get used to the handling not much can beat the car (from stock to tuned out all the way 1000hp+)...It's a classic "drivers" car...turn off the TC and asm and you have one hell of a car...

next: Tommy Kiara ZZS

87/100 - light weight, nimble and reasonably powered, can easily over come cars that have more HP, but saying that a few more ponys wouldnt hurt though

next: Mustang Cobra SVT

Lots of go for the buck... can you say, "goes like snot"? One's initial impression when first driving it is that the butt won't stay planted, which makes for some squirrelrey behavior, but with enough practice, you actually learn to harness that fairly well. It's phenomenal at putting down the power in slower corners though... the tires really bite in then. Great effort, but doesn't quite make the "A" due to the sometimes unstable handling.

Next car: Tickford Falcon

Tickford Falcon
83% - B minus

As close to a 70's era Trans Am racer as you're going to get in GT3. Big, fairly heavy, but deceptively nimble. Made of torque, and will smoke the back tires through 4th gear unless you have a light touch on the throttle.

Noseheaviness and the resulting terrible front tire wear keep it from being a true contender.

Next up: CLK Touring Car

I guess I'll give this one a shot...

Starting at 100 just because they included it...

-10 right out of the pipe because it is kinda goofy lookin'

-20 because the car is difficult to set up to be competitive. If you set it up to not eat the front tires, the loss in speed and acceleration render it non-competitive. Conversely, if you set it up to try and keep up with the competition, you spend enough time in the pits to be, well... non-competitive.

+10 because somewhere in between there it can be set up to be fun to drive.

-5 because I just looked at it again and have decided it isn't just "kinda" goofy looking... it really IS goofy looking.

+1 because goofy looking isn't the gamemaker's fault.

That leaves it at 76/100

Now... About the Beamer

I've only driven the 328i once or twice, so it is going to be hard to rate it. From what I can remember, it is an alright car, though it is not very fast and has less horsepower than you would expect it to have. I'm not a big fan of BMWs, but I would give it a 70/100. Next car: Pagani Zonda

Zonda

90/100 (road cars)
95/100 (race car)

Few cars (even the zonda race car) can take the top end road zonda funny tuned. Both road zondas have decent grip, good turn in and ALOT of grunt (even stock), they both make the two best "normal" cars in the game, few other cars can beat them in "normal" mode. With soft tires these cars stick to the road like glue

The Zonda race car is the REALLY special one. It is slightly heavy (than you would expect) and needs a longer brake distance than other race cars in the game but it's overall drive feel is amazing. Very positive turn in and acceleration, alot of grip (when tuned) and tons of nice lovely italian grunt....

Next: Subaru Imprezza LM race car (not the rally, rally proto OR STI versions)

The Impreza LM race car is fantastic in handling, speed and acceleration. It doesn't look as good as the othe rLM cars though and it isn't the best of them. It's by far the best perfoming Impreza of GT3 and when tuned will it still keeps all it's good traits.

90/100.

Next the Lotus Motorsports Elise

Alright, let me put in a say here. :D

I'm gonna have to say that there are two ways to look at something with the rating process.
1. Rate a car by class
2. Rate a car by ?????. (whatever it is that makes a car badass.) :p
For today and my reply in this thread, I'm taking the second choice.

From there I just want to give a generalized statement of my thoughts for various cars.
1-100... I guess there would be a divide between race and road @ 50. Exceptions would be made in the process and that is something best left for each racer's prefferences.

@1: the pitz
celica ?
@25: the rx-7
vette ?
@50: the rgt :trouble:
clio race ?
@75: the penzoil skyline
zonda race ?
@100: the gt-one race

Then keep filling in the blanks between each number.

Maybe you guys could build on it as you wish.
Enjoy :D

Skips Gokent for confusion on his idea and Replies for the motor sports elise. The motor sports elise handles fairly well has a slight bit of a push on some corners. Yet somewhat quick for the power thats it available of getting. I give it a score of 91. Next car S2000 type v

Well like I wasn't basing my numbers on "in class" campisons, but full on comparisons on every level.

I still like the way I did it, but to stick with the general trend, Im gonna say a couple of overly-generalized comments about the last car...

s2000 v-type
Great handling. Good power. Bad torque. Great looks. Awesome balance.
I would rate the s2000 as an 80 on a scale of 1 to 100.

However, what does that mean... not much of anything since 100 has no meaning without a base of comparison.

So, this is why I said to do away with in class comparos and keep to a total comparo.

With an in class comparo, whose gonna say what class the s2000 ends up in. fr w/ under 600 hp? fr w/ under 300hp? fr fully maxed regardless of power?
So where does it fall?

How do you grade something 1-100 when you have no base of comparison?

Do you grade on what you would expect/ hope for?
In that case the s2000 would get a nasty grade due to it's serious flaw: no torque. Or what about the lack of adjustable down force in a world where the evo 6 is right next store.

In all, if you want an in-class, I would grade the s2000 more harshly just because it is no longer being held to a comparison of how good a car it is overall, but how good a car it is in the league of awesome sports cars.

For those interested...

Discuss the nsx type r.

NSX type R - rating a 86 out of 100
This car is a rock solid MR. The problem that this ride has is the fact it takes such fine tuning to stop its mild understeer to snap oversteer (which is a little toned down compared to the RGT). A solid performer but it lacks the power in the end

next car - Spoon Civic Type -R

Sweet little roadster for the money, and a relatively unadulterated driving experience. It's purty too. :D However, one issue that I have with it is that it's a bit cumbersome in certain corners... It pushes a bit on the front tires, slides a bit in the rear, and feels too heavy. Normally, around courses like Trial Mountain, it's a blast, but around more technical courses it just feels bigger and heavier than it is, and you really have to flog it when moving from a near standstill.

Next up: Suzuki Alto (Yes, you heard me right... it's actually a better car than most people are willing to give credit to.)

[edit]: I need to learn to type faster

Spoon Civic...

76 out of 100. (in class)

The spoon is great, but fully tuned it can't keep with the trd celica. It runs into serious understeer and can't get more than 350 hp.

Then the one major difference between the spoon and other civics... motor. 16,000 rpm is great, but ...
Unfortunately, the motor is comprimised by a total lack fo torque and major oversteer in the top 1/4 of the powerband.

I would say the spoon is on about the same level as the celica trd, but not equal to the celica.

Next car...
vette grand sport.

given up kent? ;)

alto worxorz
fine car in the mini car club. comes in some nice colours and goes like the clappers (for its size). handling is....ok :)

next: alfa 156

Not really given up, just tired of dealing with being the only person that thinks "that way".

Fact is, if your gonna grade a car on a 1-100 scale, it has to be either an "in-class" or overall comparo.

In my opinion, in-class doesn't work since we haven't defined what any given cars class is.

I have never driven the 156 alfa, so Im gonna pass on that one, but when I get back from this little break :smokeysmokey: I will hit you guys with my thoughts on the next car.

Till then, later.

Actually a much better car than I anticipated.
In-class comparison would put this thing with the acura cl and not too many others. FF sedans, and luxury none the less. So how does it stack up?

With a full modification and super soft tires, the alfa took complex string reverse pretty well. There wasn't much fishtailing, and a bit of understeer would be a kind statement, but still... the thing managed without too much trouble.

I was suprised with the ease of turn-in and lack of high rpm understeer. Only problem was that the turn in was negated by the understeer on exit, the understeer was noticeable throughout the entire rpm range instead of just the high range.

This is all just my crap 5 minute session testing opinion. If there seem to be any major problems with my statements, just throw it in and move on with the next car. :D

My rating on the Alfa Romero 156: 89 of 100. (specific to inclass rating... as a race car the thing can barely keep up with a stock r-gt.)
Still a great car. 👍

Next car: Impreza WRX Sti Sedan or Corvette Grand Sport

Corvette Grand Sport

Two ratings

Age- COME ON! IT WAS MADE IN 1995! 500 HP! (I am right on this arent I? maybe im thinking of the wrong car) anyway.

Id give it an 83 or so out of 100

About the Vette Grand Sport...your very wrong, it only comes with 330 hp, my slef i rate it a 74/100 (it aint nothing special stock).

Tommy Kaira ZZII

Now come on...does this car even nead to be rated? It is clearly the best road car in the game. It's a supercar no doubt at all. It drives like theres rails or something on the track...i just can't find flaws in this car and tuned to the max this car is unbeatable by any other road car (personal opinion there) and probably even by the LM (fanatsy ones) cars and JGTC...

I can not find a flaw in this car. I would give it like to give it 100 but don't feel right about that... 99/100 :D

Next car... Chrysler PT Cruiser :p
