Shot .40 S&W for the first time couple of weeks ago. Always heard about harsher or snappier recoil. I shot it in Glock 23, and while I can see where the sentiments on stronger recoil came from, it wasn't bad at all. Love 9mm, love .45ACP, but I'd love to own a .40 someday, too.
I had a .40 once, a Glock 35 - have to say, if you got a .45 and a 9mm, there is, at least in my opinion, very little reason to get a .40S&W. Its just a mix of 9 and 45, but its too close to both of them to feel much different.

How about a 10mm? Different enough from 9mm and 45 to merit buying a Glock 20? Its an awesome round, equally powerful as a .357 but in a pistol format.

That's very true. As somewhat expected, it felt like 9mm & .45 had baby or something. You are right, original/full 10mm would be cooler and make more sense. If there was a good deal on surplus or something, I may still want the .40.

Shot my Norinco 1911 today, sighted it in and tried different brands of ammo - it shot wonderfully! No jams whatsoever (only with the 10 round mag, but more of that later), I immediately hit very well with it at 25 meters, it ate all the ammo with no hiccup. I never shot this many .45ACP without a single hiccup before, LOL. Funny, tried 3 different pistols in .45 and the only one working without a complaint is the cheapest one, from a Chinese manufacturer.

The only mods I did to the gun was polishing the chamber mouth and feed ramp to a mirror finish and swapping out the (presumably) 16lbs factory recoil spring with a 17lbs spring.

The only issues I had were with the 10 round extended magazine, before I tried it I found the spring to be kind of on the weak side, and the jams I got confirmed my suspicions. The brand of the mag is triple-K, the jams I got were nose-diving when trying to chamber the first round and not engaging the slide stop - definitely caused by a weak spring, not the guns fault. The Mec-Gar 8 shot mags feel twice as hard to load to capacity compared to the Triple-K.

Also, this got me thinking, isn't triple K - KKK - short for the Ku Klux Klan? Thats an American manufacturer too...... 😬🤔

Received a word our local gun shop got 9mm in stock for $19.99 a box. I still have close a case left(1,000rd in a case), so while the guy working there thought the limit was 4, I bought just 2.

$19.99 is a decent price in 2021, but still 200% of Pre-2020 pricing. 😭 Added Gen 2 Magpul mag for $10.

5.56's been making the rounds all over town, but also at around 200% the pricing from 2019. Around $12 range.

I think it's pretty obvious Triple K magazine sensed that 1911 was.... from another region.

Man that is awesome that you're able to get some 9mm ammo. I also applaud you for not being selfish because many people would have purchased the max amount even though they still have unopened boxes of ammo at home.

The prices you mentioned aren't too bad. They could be better, but we have also seen much worse. I haven't been able to find 9mm on the shelves at the local sporting goods stores I frequently shop at. But I have been able to find it being sold online by a local vendor at $21.99 per box of 50-rounds. .223/5.56 I recall seeing it at the local sporting goods stores at $15.99 per box of 20-rounds. I am beginning to significantly more rifle ammo on shelves than handgun ammo. Although things aren't completely back to normal, it is good to see ammo back shelves.

@Michael88 given the recent history you've had with your previous handguns. I am very happy to hear about things working in your favor with your current 1911.

Don't. I only bought two, because the price was high. At my regular store, it's $15.79, and at that price, I'd have bought four(that store limit there is two though). 😂

Same here. Not rare to see 5.56/.223, also 7.62x39 or 7.62x51, but handgun calibers are still rare. Saw 9mm from time to time, but I've hit a drought. Before these boxes of $19.99, I hadn't seen them at my regular stores for probably 2, 3 months or more.

Target Sports USA had CCI 9mm in stock for $20 recently. I think it's free shipping if you buy a case. Unfortunately, I check again today & now the cheapest price they had was $22.50.

I did buy two boxes of .40 S&W other day for a coworker, maybe 2 weeks ago. First time I had seen .40 in many, many months, if not over a year. It's definitely on the right track!

Earlier this year my buddy Brendan started a firearms and accessories business called Militia Armory. Shortly after, he became a FFL dealer then began to accumulate firearms and accessories to sell online. Last week his website went live and I took it upon myself to purchase a Holosun 510C from him. Full disclosure I am not gaining anything from telling you guys about Militia Armory. Nor will I receive any form of commission from purchases you guys could potentially make. With the codes listed below, you guys will be able to get the same discount I did when I purchased my Holosun 510C.

www.militia-armory.com

Discount Codes:
Lumos for 20% off lights.
Optics15 for 15% off optics.
Holo20 for 20% off holosun products.
Clipazine for 10% off magazines

I've been busy all week and haven't gone to the range yet with this sight. I've watched and read a lot of reviews about this sight. I am very confident about how well it will perform, now I just need to decide which firearm to mount it onto. Unfortunately this week will also be very busy for me. But for the time being, here are a few pics of the optic. I also included a few pics of the Holosun next to my Eotech 512 for comparison.

Holosun optics are extremely good, I've been very impressed with mine, they are as good as those super high priced optics from aimpoint & co. You won't be disappointed.

Speaking about buying stuff, I went to my favorite gun store with pockets full of money and came out empty handed. They have tons of stuff yet I didn't find anything interesting, and I cannot even think of something I'm looking for. Handled a Glock 41, the .45ACP long slide model and eh, it was too close to my G17, also thought about getting a double barrel over & under shotgun but I have no place to shoot these, grabbed a couple lever actions in .44 and .357 but there was no love either. Bah. :(

@Michael88 that is very unfortunate that you weren't able to find something you liked. Considering that you have recently been able to handle several more firearms. What are you thinking about purchasing next? Also, how are things going with your 1911 since you last posted about it?

Check out these videos a I came across last night.

That Uzi video's so relaxing to watch. It reminded me of shows like "How It's Made", great production value.

Now that everybody's been vaccinated, we've been shooting little more. Found couple more areas to plink. When cheap ammo come back to the market, we should be in good shape. And hopefully no more additional nonsensible gun laws.

It was about 10, 12 yards to the paper target(right), 50yards to the gong(red circle). Distance looks off in the pics, maybe due to weird bumpy terrain.

We could have set the target further back by the trees in the shade, which would've been really close to, or around 100 yards. Our targets were too close or too far for me, but it is what it is. Kimber 1911 & Ruger SR22 could reach out to the 50yd gong if I took my time, but I didn't even attempt it with the P226. :P

Shooting Ruger SR22.

Also, how are things going with your 1911 since you last posted about it?

Today I diss-and reassembled my 1911, completely, down to the last tiny bolt. I gotta tell you, there is more to it than disassembling a Glock, lol, but it was easier than I anticipated. And its a good feeling to know your firearms inside-out. I know all my rifles and pistols down to the last screw, I can all take them apart completely and put them back together. :)

Still don't know what to buy though. I've been eying a couple precision rifles, but last time I shot precision from the bench I was so burned out on it I told myself to never pick up shooting 100+ yards scoped rifles for groups again.

Went to the shooting range with my 1866 Winchester in 44-40. That gun is so much fun to shoot, the cartridge is like a 45ACP +p, no recoil from the rifle, its so fast to cycle it almost like a semi auto rifle, it holds 13 cartridges.... But anyway, shot it at 50 meters standing unsupported, for the first time in a year. Had a blast and I hit halfway decent. :D ( a little high, its sighted in for 100)

And look what I got per mail today! Those are charger clips for swiss rifles. The originals were made of pressed cardboard-resin, and they're falling apart now since they are close to 100 years old. These are aftermarket 3-D printed chargers, and they work really well. Put the thumb on the top round, push them in and the mag is filled to capacity with 6 rounds. I just hope they are durable.

These are the original chargers, they are hard to come by and they are quite fragile now after nearly a century.

I'm really wanting to go deer hunting. I bought a new (to me) rifle earlier, this year, and I want to take it out and see how it does. I've got it dialed in out to 100 yds (my local range only goes out that far). But I'm thinking I won't be shooting at deer farther than that....probably much closer.

Rifle: Savage Model 11 (Kryptek Highlander pattern) in 6.5 Creedmoor
Scope: Nikon 3-9x40 (came with the rifle)
Bought both (used) for $549 from LGS

That's a nice rig that should be perfect for this job, heck, with 3-9x40 that heavy match barrel and the 6.5 you should be good out to 400 easily.

Whos gonna do the butchering, are you going to learn how to do that as well?

That, I don't know. I've never butchered/processed one, before. But I'm willing to give it a shot if someone can show me. The guys I'm planning on going hunting with MIGHT know how to do it; we've never talked about it, really.

@BloodRaven that is a nice hunting rifle setup. In regards to processing your meat, my guess is that you guys might quarter the animal then take the meat to a processor. Good luck on your hunt, please make a post about your experience. I would like to read about how things went for you guys.

Just got me a Glock 41 Gen4! I actually did not even know that the G41 was a Glock model, turns out it is a .45ACP competition-longslide model but without cutout in the slide revealing the barrel. Also, the slide is as narrow as the slide of the 9mm models, the other 45 ACP models like the G21 are much fatter.
As a huge .45ACP AND Glock nerd I could not walk home without taking it with me. Just installed some LPA windage and elevation adjustable LPA sights on it, I love it already. :)

Here is my G41, put some fully adjustable LPA fiber optic sights on it, love the sight picture and visibility. :) They're also pretty heavy duty and made from steel. Put the medium beaver tail grip panel on it, feels really good.

Many people complain about the size of the 45 Glock grips, but I must have huge hands because they feel fine. Certainly a lot smaller than Desert Eagle grips, and those are fine too. :))

Nice! Only thing missing is a 30-round extended magazine.

Glock has quite a few models like that, it's just that the dealers, even Glock heavy dealers, pretty much only bother to stock the high volume mainstream stuff.

I look forward to seeing how this one manages to not function properly for you

@Rage Racer I haven't followed the AK12 very closely but man that thing looks awesome. I really like the side folding stock, full length picatinny rail and extended thumb mag release. Damn I hate the fact that we can't get them out here. The modified/deactivated AK-74M reminds of an expensive but extensively modified AK from Dissident Arms here in the US. That Lebedev PLK looks pretty cool as well. Thank you for sharing those pics and videos.
