There's definitely a difference between online and offline. It generally manifests itself as a bit more oversteer in front engine and some mid-engine vehicles, and a bit less oversteer/more understeer in most mid and rear engine vehicles.

I am 30 years old and have played gt religiously since gt1. If you want an experience that could change your mind about how good the physics are in gt5, go get a copy of gt1 or 2.

These games are always changing and evolving from one iteration to the next. Yes, you may have complaints from time to time about in game physics, and the obvious difference between life and online modes. But, if you are a fan, you know darn well that Kaz and the guys support these games better than anyone in the industry. In fact, this kind of post-release support is unheard of in the gaming industry, and may just revolutionize games as we know them.

The only thing I can say to the complainers is to keep complaining in a constructive way, and polyphony will answer!

LONG LIVE SIM RACING!

PING! steering wheel question?

What?

Ah, found it, two pages prior.

hey guys, i have a question... why does the steering wheel only turn 90 degrees left or right from its centered position even when you full lock compared to when you actually full lock in a car you have to do like around 2 revolutions depending on the car?

Visual representation. PD did not find a good hand-over-hand animation, so they stuck with the 90 degrees.

I have got a DFGT, and the full 900 degrees are supported.

By the way - you hijacked the OP's thread with your own question and expect all to answer your query?

lol I'm out of breathe after reading that lol

There is a difference in physics without a doubt. I'm sure many tunas will agree also.

Right well I don't play a great deal online nowerdays and I havnt done a like for like tyre comparison but after 50 or so shuffle races on a few tracks I know well (and months of drifting in the beginning) it still turns in and brakes the same for me so I don't know where your coming from.

If there was some kind of brake test that could be done for comparison (for judging the grip) or some kind of stability test showing the effects people have mentioned I may be convinced, going of my own experience to date tho I am not.

It's called "baiting", he simply wants the OP to call him out on it and then flame him.
Why in hell this got moved to "tuning" is beyond me.
I was trying to delete this thread, and the only way it said I could was to move it somewhere else. I chose tuning because I thought that was the closest to the subject matter.

Thank you for this? Not sure where this applies to my post.

I would surely hope that a manufacturer of anything when making a new updated version of whatever it is, evolves and just plain gets better.

I have the two prior versions and this is obviously better - hence evolution, that still doesn't change the fact that if it takes 5 years for the new release, the certain realisms left out of this "simulator" surely were not addressed.

As some have responded that this is not really a simulator which contradicts the cover of the box it came in, then maybe I shouldn't be reading this 303 page book on the the details of tuning a car or even bother with the in-game tuning.

Someone responded with the fact that there was so much code in the programming. To that I will say as far as track grip - there is a car on here that has unbelievable grip, so re-writing code and sorting through all of it is moot. Changing the value (1 number) is all that needs to be done.

Really, how hard can it be to match 5 stints of fuel to one set of tires at Le Mans? Because that is what happened this past year. They ran 5 tanks of gas out before changing a set of tires. I want to win a race not just by skill behind the wheel, but also tire and fuel strategy as well.

No need to tell me how good this game is, I have the last 4 releases. This game is the king of console racers as far as I am concerned. Kazunori-san IS and will remain THE MAN!

if you want a simulator you should try looking for PC releases and not in a console game.

LFS, GTR2 (or rather the most recent simbin title) RBR and netkar pro are your best choices since those are good enough and have all the content available out of the box.

btw I assume you are using a decent ffb wheel with all the assists off, including abs.

ahhh they should really get a proper hand-over-hand animation.. seeing that 90 degree wheel turn somehow really annoys me:tup:... anyways i didnt wanna open a whole new thread for this little question and this seemed like the right place to post the question.

Thanks a million, appreciate it! 👍

I learned to read in school, so for me the rant was NOT a problem. He should have made his point a lot more clear by making a Youtube video, for those who lose focus by trying to read.

This is most hatred by me lol. A few others and I have pointed it out in the past many times even before gt5s release. PD actually had proper wheel animations working in a beta version of gt5 prologue. Youtube it you will see it looks great.

I reckon blame the general public and ds3 users for the choice to change it

The truth is that GT series must be rebuilt starting from zero. They should abandon the current, old "layout". This game suffers the same, old mistakes of the previous chapters. Those issues you've mentioned all derive from the past.
It's not just a question of "fixing" this and that, they really must rebuilt everything, if they want to regain respect in this category of games.

Respect? It's the best driving sim on PS3! It's better than its rival in several important areas! Whilst I agree with some of your sentiment ref the interface etc, in terms of driving feel it's still head and shoulders above any of it's competitors.

What Peter said, it's the best overall driving game for the PS3 and arguably for any console.

Is it perfect? No. But what is?

Driving feeling is not the only good point in this game, GT5 has many other good things, I painted it too badly in the previous post; I just intended to say that all GT issues aren't to be solved just by improving this old layout, it really needs a new base ground. To be honest, when I play GT, I don't feel that racing sensation, it's like.. I'm not really racing, I'm just bringing my car to 1st place, and I'm ready to hit any other car, as long as the game allows me to do it, until I reach my scope. Ok, you can try to have a clean and correct driving as much as you want, but this should be imposed by the itself, not by yourself.
Well it's easy to be the best racing simulator on a consolle when you are the only one in this category.
