Well for Monday we had a typical English salad if there is such a thing for evening meal and lunch has been some basic ham salad sandwiches.

Then on Tuesday was ham salad again for lunch with homemade carbonara for evening meal.

Wednesday was chicken salad for lunch and a grilled chicken and Greek salad for evening meal.

Today it’s been ham salad and tonight another Greek Salad with Grilled chicken. Bit at this very moment it’s water and a few of these…

Imported Amaretti. They were part of a shop from Sous Chef. Also picked up some nice mild Greek olive oil for the Salad tonight song with Kalamata olives and oregano.

Bit of juxtaposition but just had my lunch with…

Sardines in herbs and olive oil, cottage cheese on sourdough toast. Bit of black pepper too.

Just gently warmed the cheese and sardines on a hot water bath to get them slightly above room temp. This keeps the fish whole and not mushy. Also it releases the herbs oils. So good.

Just so I don't lower the thread quality any further I also picked up a couple of salami, feta, rocket and 'nduja foccacias at Victoria Station.

The guy was kind enough to chuck in an extra little tub of 'nduja after he saw me salivating at the counter.

I hummed and hawed about getting a takeout from Wok and Fire but thought "nah, I want a burger". Unfortunately my two targets Black Bear and Bleecker were closed at the time of my morning medical appointment so I missed out.

Fortunately I've had Bleecker before when I worked near the Westfield shopping centre in White City and thought at the time "these are a perfected version of the Birdseye burgers I had as a kid". I'm not surprised they're so popular with restaurant critics. In 'N' Out still beat them for me though despite the weird palm trees and creepy bible verses on the packaging.

I'm almost always in the mood for a burger but my wife can't eat wheat. Most places either don't have a gluten free bun or they don't hold up and get soggy so she'd rather just skip it. Indian and Thai are usually safe bets, though.

I'd never heard of a chop house before but with "tandoor" in front of it (which appears to be closed now), it must be Indian so I figured we'd give it a shot. When they brought us our food, we asked for rice and the server looked at us funny and said they didn't have any. That's when it occurred to us what a chop house was.

I had a pretty nice dinner at an Asian fusion restaurant.

The sesame chicken was decent, the rice, too. But the steamed pork buns in the back were the most enjoyable part of the meal. I saved two to give to someone else.

I had a mad craving for tacos last night. Or, as my Mexican friend tells me “white people tacos”. LOL
I build them and then bake them for 8-10 minutes.
Seasoned ground beef
Lettuce
Sour cream
Tomato’s
Black olives
Cilantro
Cheese.
I eagerly consumed all 12 and wished I had more.

There was next to nothing left in the fridge so I raided the freezer for this lasagne and added a generous smear of bacon hot sauce. I gotta put down the joypad controller and go shopping soon.

At least it's M&S and looks semi-decent. It was actually a cheap frozen lasagne that was the straw that broke the camel's back for me - my Mum 'cooked' a truly revolting microwave lasagne and I couldn't eat it. She wasn't happy at the time, and basically said 'If you don't like it, you can cook dinner from now...', and since then I pretty much have.

But it's always handy having stuff in the freezer you can just chuck in the oven, so I always used to have a Tesco Finest lasagne in the freezer too, but it is not a patch on my homemade lasagne!
