Really wish we could switch between manual/automatic in-game

Yeah, that's great for people who don't ever have guests who can't play it on manual. If you have to go back out to the main menu to change it every time you pass the controller to your mate then it's roughly 90 seconds of watching a loading screen each time that could have been spent playing. Christ! What's so hard to understand?!

Oh my god man, what's so hard for you to understand?!

You don't have to go out to the main menu to change to AT. You only have to go to the event screen with the starting line up and the track in the background. Then go to driving options and change it to AT. Shouldn't take much longer than a normal restart. You don't have to wait for the track to load or anything, definitely not 90 seconds.

At least 3 people told you this already, but cause you're so up tight about this, you say THEY didn't read your post, when it's YOU who can't seem to read or understand what they're telling you

Simple solution... tell your friend to "man up" and learn to drive manual like a real race fan and play the game like it should be played. Anyone wanna second that?

I'm not sure why people think the automatic option with the ability to shift yourself is so crazy?
Has anybody driven a new car in the last 10 years on these forums?

List of the last 3 cars I have driven
Acura TSX
Audi S-Line A6
Kia Magentis

And guess what? They all have an automatic transmission... until you slide your gear shifter to the right which allows you to override the automatic gearbox, and shift when you please.
Also nice because if for whatever reason you redline and push it too hard, car realizes your mistake and shifts for you, its completely idiot proof.
It wouldn't be that hard to give a third option for MOST of the cars in the game.
Just sayin'

Actually these days cars are coming with SMG, my BMW had the same system in it, while it's pretty cool at first. It doesn't feel that great when you are used to driving stick. Besides no matter what, they aren't supposed to be used too much as the constant changing wears on the components faster than a proper manual car. I'll stick with my old shift as it keeps me engaged with driving and I'm less likely to fall asleep at the wheel. I have done that in my automatic cars a few times....especially when coming a red light, I coast with my foot on the brake and closed my eyes. Hence why i prefer manual as I am constantly alert and don't leave anything up to chance.

Manumatics also tend to have the problem (for most midsize sedans and whatnot) that when you tell it to shift, the torque converter has a committee meeting with the planetary gearset on the positives and negatives of whether you really want to shift before it actually shifts.
