I think they paid EA for exclusive rights to it. Oh and engine sounds too.

Nope, rights have nothing to do with it. I'm guessing the team just ran out of time...

Yep, and I heard PD has a exclusive rights on Car Washes and B-Spec so no other game can feature them. Pretty fair if you ask me.

There's no official answer, but that's one feature that was hinted at when Kaz said something was left out due to it's size, and wouldn't work as DLC.

Rest assured, PD knows we want it... it's in the Feedback section.

From TGS 2006.

I can honestly cannot imagine the anger we'll see if it's missing for a 6th straight game.

^ Indeed, I believe a lot of people would just give up on the series.

I believe GT5 has struck casual fans in the jaw.....while the ones that remain are either EXTREMELY loyal fans from GT1 or fans that have played since GT1 who are now very disappointed and skeptical.

GT6 has to do a lot of things right and add new features.

Well, after 10 years we got SPA.

Maybe they're saving a livery editor for 2022, when GT7 releases for the PS5.

The feedback section was made by GTP only one year and a half ago.

GTP: There has been much discussion and debate in GTPlanet’s community regarding GT5’s Standard and Premium cars. Could you explain how you came to the decision of which cars would be Premium and which would remain Standard, such as the Bugatti Veyron?

KY: It wasn’t a matter of making a decision, we just didn’t have time to do it! There is still a possibility that some Standard cars may become Premium in the future.

"Then he showed us a look at another set of game features that he says make Gran Turismo what is today, a reference in the world of driving simulations. Arcade and GT Modes are the same as previous versions, but taken to the next generation. That is, new graphics, new physics, new details. In the shop there will be many accessories to improve your cars. The master was particularly proud of this facet of the game. He commented that we can change almost every imaginable piece of the vehicle, not just the typical sections of the engine, brakes, etc...

Yamauchi said that within the total time of game development, modeling cars has consumed 60 percent of available resources. Without doubt, they have wanted to give this issue top priority, and it was revealed in the space occupied by the modeling division, well over half the total team..."

I've only played GT4 sort of as much as GT5, and I haven't played the first 2 GT's. I didn't even buy Prologue. I had FM3 early in 2010, but I didn't care to buy it. I had no expectations for that game, while I had big expectations for GT5. I thought damage would look better, and I thought all cars would have interior views with a lot more performance/tuning parts to use. A livery editor is only a waste of time from my point of view. I see the Course Maker as a much more needed feature.

Sort of on topic -
GT5 was supposed to have a tarmac track in a snowy mountainous region. This is unlike how it was supposed to have the Grand Canyon rally track, because I don't think this snow track was ever in any other GT.

If GT6 gets a livery editor it will probably be half assed

Yeah, probably with 50 layers for decals. GT6 does need it badly, though, with some bare Super GT and NASCAR templates so we can recreate cars.

Having a livery editor means there must also be a way to police it to prevent swastikas, nudity, "$ony $ucks a$$" type banners, and the like. That would require they pay someone to do the policing, which means there'd be one less person doing actual development work in PDs employ.

I believe there is no livery editor because of differences in models of standard and premium cars. But anyway, I'm not looking forward to the livery editor. Currently we can only paint cars and rims and that doesn't stop people from making the cars as ugly as possible with ridiculous color combinations, and it will only get worse with the editor.

A livery editor is a must for gt6, I want to see a proper wheel shop like we had in the old gt games too, that can easily be implemented into gt5 via dlc

I can't understand why people think a Livery Editor is worse.
Look at the Great Livery from the FM community.

*sigh*

You know, because PD would totally hire one guy just to do one tedious job.

You don't see this sort of "policing" in other online games with livery editors. I'm pretty sure some even have a report button.

Will that stop people from making beautiful artistic liveries? I think not.

Way to be pessimists, guys. Bravo.

PD has invented its own unique livery system in GT5 you know, it's a revolutionary continuously changing system whereby the livery randomly changes depending on the position you take on the track and takes into account the effects of speed and sunlight/shadows, it basically is based on reflecting the surroundings.

How does it work I hear you say, well simply paint a car Silver/Gold Chrome. :p

Let's remove online from GT6 too while we're at it since there will be cheating and dirty drivers in the public lobbies.

Yes you have a point but for every great livery there is a pink one with ponies or something. Forza's editor is a great tool but I fear people will just use to make their car as ridiculous as possible. Although I would like to be wrong.

Yeah that isn't a very good comparison. Don't get me wrong, I would love a livery editor ( would be awesome for cup races with same cars) if they can somehow restrict so you can only make "realistic" liveries and not ridiculous ones.

Do bad liveries really offend you that much? Do you see a shed of a car in real life and turn around because it's so awful to look at? Heck, some real life liveries are pretty awful, the other drivers don't fail to run or ask them to cover it up. They just get on with it.

You can already paint a car pink with yellow wheels, I doubt any livery could be any worse.

The positives of a livery editor far outweight the negatives.

So? Currently using the limited paint options you can indeed already create some very distasteful looking cars.
I can't see it being any worse if a few patterns, more colours or decals are added, bad taste is bad taste.
And you know what? As much as I look forward to creating (hopefully beautiful) liveries myself and witnessing beautiful creations by others, I also look forward to seeing appalling, hideous or frankly disturbing 'creations' as I have a sense of humor.

Wow some people take what I said way too seriously...

No I'm not offended, my biggest fear would not be the bad color combinations but immaturity. And a few immature ones won't bother me, but racing a full gird of cars with trollfaces and peni*es kinda takes away from the experience. If that stuff doesn't bother you, I have no problem with that, It's your opinion. But is it that hard for you to accept mine?

Like I said, there definitely will be amazing and terrible liveries, and i do find some Forza ones funny, i just don't want it to become the norm. Maybe I'm just too pessimistic, but we'll see...

Well. I know what you mean, but you dont have to use those livery's. In 100 hours mp Gameplay you will find 1-2 really ugly livery. Just win the Race and you will Not See it :P

restrictions are a very Bad idea. A Livery Editor better or equel to the FM4 Editor or no LE.

You are to pessimistic ;)

I never saw a trollface or other Things you mentioned on a Car.

I draw the line at seeing trollpenises, other than that I'm not that bothered.

I agree and i'll add to the bolds a 3rd reason,
that there are people like me, that dont like to play games on PC and not willing to buy a second console just for one game (especially now that the next gen is just around the corner).
