After attending the Bathurst 12 hour race in person yesterday, I'm much more interested in the GT3 Class of racing. Although we have a few specific GT3 cars (SLS, GTR, R8, Z4), we are still missing a fair few (Vantage, MP4-12C, 458, LP600) and of course the 911 GT3 R for obvious reasons.

Has anyone tried to put a list together of all the cars (street cars tuned or RM cars) that perform comparably. Of course you would need to balance performance, which could be used to make the cars even closer to in game performance.

If you have any ideas or have already conducted some tests please let me know and I'll edit this post with a master list.

M3 was never a GT3 car was it? I always thought that it was a GT2/GTE racecar. As far as I know they can be tuned to similar performance but you will always be missing adjustable front Aero.

I made a Italia GT2 replica (see my signature), my favorite car to drive atm. With some adjustment it could probably be turned into GT3 version.

I got a time close to the real time of a 458 GT2 at Spa.

Here are the current GT3 specs, as with all FIA series the docs are all available on the FIA website.

It helps to have a bit of French - the site is multilingual but some of the dustier recesses are in some kind of alien jibber-jabber.

My personal in-game favourites are the Gallardo and the Italia... both awesome, especially since the Mad-R handling was evened out a little.

The Ford GT Spec 2 Test Car tuned to around 575pp (added weight, hp under 500) with equal Aero to the other GT3 cars as stock makes for a great GT3 car to be used in the IA GT3 Career races. Using it, if you run a near flawless race with the rubberbanding AI, will make for a pretty competitive Series.

I built a Viper, C7, DB9, and 458 to race in the group gt3 races. I used weight reduction, race exhaust, and flat floors to bring to 600pp, I then played with some suspension settings that the suspension wizard spit out and tweaked the transmission depending on the track.

Can any of you pot tunes though ? that would really help

I'm in the process of building 458, Vantage and MP4 GT3 Spec cars. I'm using stock tunes as much as possible to allow for individual tuning.
I'm basically trying to build an even playing field of base spec cars.

I'm using the current GT3 cars to build a benchmark for these cars to reach then adjust accordingly to bring the BOP (Balance of Performance) closer.

I will post specs and tunes (as previously stated, that will be mild) once finished individual cars are finished.

I did a GT3 online racing group here with GT5.

Took each of then current GT3 cars in street car trim, added all aero options then tested as a "balance of performance." The results were actually very close to real world specs. The Ferrari 430 was 518hp/1,250kgs, Corvette Z06 500hp/1,300kgs, etc. Our best racers laps times were actually close as well.

A couple of the cars were so far outside performance thresholds so I had to use the tires as an equalizer. Example being the Z4 BMW running racing softs and the Ford GT on racing hards.

Toughest part is running cars all at different PP's, power, weight and making sure all the racers are on the up and up. Such as putting on all engine parts then using the slider to back off horsepower while getting more torque than normal.

Same could be done in GT6.

You could modify the allowed aero/suspension to bring the cars into line, if you check out the technical regs above you'll see that that's how it was done. Suspension can be checked in replays, as can aero. I'm not saying it will work...just that that's how it should work :)

I'm trying to keep all the aero and suspension stock to allow either tuning or stock racing.

So far I've done a 458 and Vantage. They are both basic so far and have only been tested on a single track. Over the next few days I'll use other tracks to create a better balance of performance.
So far all the cars I've tested (458, Vantage, Z4 GT3, SLS GT3, GTR GT3) are within 2 seconds of each other. The R8 LMS Ultra is my enemy at the moment and can only manage a time within 5 seconds.

But the 458 and especially the Aston will be at a disadvantage going against the real deal GT3 cars.

This was the reason I went with all street versions of the real world GT3 cars then added aero. No car had any "race" car advantage. That and all the homologated GT3 cars were available as street cars (re: Mustang, Jaguar, Viper, McLaren).

On the testing side, I ran each car as fast as I could over a number of different types of tracks. I would then record the best sector times from each run. These sector times would decide performance adjustments for each car. There was another GTP member that helped a lot with testing. His times for each car roughly matched mine when compared as ratios.

That being true, they have a disadvantage through the corners although make up the time down the straights.

You'd need to test exactly how GT6's downforce affects top speeds. Otherwise you're running a 600hp+/1,100kg Ferrari to keep up with GT3 cars whose performance is close to the real world numbers.

EDIT: Here's where to start:
http://gt3europe.com/cars.php

All of these are available in GT6 (with some imagination on the Porsche, and kinda sad the R8 doesn't have aero now). The Z4 will be the only dog unless GT6 allows a lot more horsepower. GT5 allowed about 420 if I remember correctly, which wasn't enough to stay with the rest of the grid.

Well so far yes. My 458 sits a 612hp/1340 kg.
It's power to weight ratio is right in the middle of the GT3 cars.

Hi there,

some guys created a adac gt masters series with creating all cars in the series out of the street cars. I have also raced and event with this car pool and I have to say the guys did a really good job to bring the cars onto one level.
the weight and power are leveled out and the 4WD cars are made to RWD (10/90 split).

you can find the excel list here.

it is all made for GT5 but this can give you a good guidance if you want to create something similar I think.

I guess the Corvette Z06 (C6) LM Race Car '06 can be easily turned into a GT3 car with some fine tuning. And it looks very similar to the real GT3 Corvette, so that's the first car I would add to the other GT3s.

Based loosely on the GT3 cars we have, I've taken some of my favorite cars that don't have GT3 versions in the game and modded them with full aero/upgrades to 600pp.. namely the Corvette C6 race car and C7, the Gallardo, the MP-4, and the 458. I haven't done any testing to compare times - I was mainly just going for a similar feel and performance for offline without doing the work of a scientific replication, but I would like to get them more accurate in the future.

What about the TVR base model ? Could be a 'GT3' car too, isn't it ?

It would be great to create a class of racing of balanced performance cars, a certain specification. A Spec X. This Spec X could contain a multitude of different vehicles all balanced to make for even racing.

Sadly, tuned street cars are no match to the real deal GT3 cars.
What you could do is allow only tuned street cars within a certain PP range, say 590-610, and only allow for RWD two door coupés. Sadly that would exclude the GTR and Lambos, but really, AWD would be a huge advantage.
It is ofcourse possible to set front drive at minimum and all front LSD settings to minimum, but if you plan on going online with this, enforcing settings would be hard.

I also got interested in recreating GT3 cars after watching the race on the weekend. Just finished building a 458 to approximately GT3 spec. Funnily enough I was able to reach the exact weight stated on the ferrari website (1217kg) but stock power is slightly higher than the GT3 car.

Haven't put a clean lap of bathurst together yet but lap times appear to be close, will need to fiddle with setup a bit to get into the 2:04s.

I used to own the R8 GT3 but it was a mess so I sold it for the Nismo GTR GT3, will report back with lap times

Damn you Turn10...

I've been into GT3 (All FIA GT) for some time now. In GT5 I was able to duplicate many GT3/GT1 specs.
But I did wish for Race Mod options for these cars. PD in general has not done well in catagorizing this class of car so that we can set up authentic racing rooms.:irked:

FIA has classes that include Viper, Corvette, Ford GT Aston and so on. The only thing I can think of that is holding PD back would be licencing for various sponsors and the car's themselves. I can understand them not being able to duplicate all of the liveries, but the cars except Porsche should be moded and released to us.
Most of the cars production counterparts are already in the game. So WTF:confused:
Even in GT6 we still can not control the power specs when we select GT3 (or any catagory) when configuring a room.
I'm not sure what is taking them so long to add more filters and fully differenciate between car types.
Also, if I wanted to build a race for 1991 Lotus Elise 180HP 750kg vs. similar TVR Tamora I should be able to do so.
PD must expand the cars configurable attributes so players have more control of how they want their rooms.

I should also be able to build a race between stock production Ferrari vs Corvette vs Lambo vs Pagini vs Ford.
And if I wanted I should be able to select the model from each manufacturer, and set the power and/or PP, suspention drive train transmission, tyre and brake options each driver driver is allowed to customize.

Without the fine detail for option selection, the current options are useless. With expanded options, players can configure room and players will no be confused to what is allowed. I would also help to expand the amount of characters allowed for the room description.👍

The race version of the merc VGT is competitive straight out of the box with GT3 cars.

The R8's drive like a sack of S:censored:. you did well to rid yourself of it. I think the GT3 Audi handling is another PD error.
:banghead:

You could be able to recreate a C6.R like this: Get a ZR1 LM Race Car, power it down to about 550bhp, add 200kg ballast, move the weight distribution 'till it's 50/50, and you have a DIY C6.R.
