If the engine in the X2014 JR was based on a real I-4 Renault Engine, I would say it is based on the unit from the RenaultSport Clio 200 (albeit a slightly modified version)

The car did have a slight glitch in the cockpit view. The rev light would blink for ever from about 3,000 RPM? and up. PD did a secret patch and now it will flash normal as it should be like the X2010.

I just did these events. Not only was I surprised at how amazing this car handles, and also how close these races are, but DAMN! The sound! It sounds like nothing I've heard in any GT game. It's almost like a bad joke from PD, since we get these awesome sounds on a fake car.

This Redbull Junior has changed my mind about these cars. It went from hate to completely falling in love with it. It has got to be my favorite race car so far. The only thing that bothers me is that this car could use a bit more HP. Raise it to 300HP and this car would be more than awesome.

People are bitching the Jr. being a "fake" car.

But do remember, this one would be far more feasible to build and drive than the fan cars. I can't wait to see the next step up!

Don't know if any one experienced this but when I was in the slip-stream of another car in the Junior races, I wasn't getting the speed acceleration as I should've in a slip-stream.

Whereas the AI get the slip-stream advantage.

Nonetheless, a fun series of races.

Feels like they used the new "real" slipstream setting that they added in the last patch in these races.

I gotta post, it felt odd going into the "Midnight Racers" event onto the Nurburgring 24H with a bunch of tuner cars. This car dropped to 650PP on Racing Hard tires. It's actually not that much faster... besides the slight downforce advantage of course. But it's not overwhelming. If the AI didn't slam on their brakes for corners it would've been wonderful single lap Nord-run to be honest.

Wonderful car. Absolutely wonderful car. I fear for the fan'd X2014. That's going to be quite the welcoming challenge! But the events are clearly building you to get used to each phase before you tackle that kind of car. It's neat if you think about it.

Ok, I already had the car on sport hard tires since I first got it, but now I dropped the downforce all the way down, added maximum ballast and moved it to a 52/48 ratio to make it feel more like a FR car. I don't care what the car is, and I don't even really like driving it with the huge steering ratio, but damn if I can't stop driving it just for the beautiful sound it makes.

PD needs to take this exhaust sound and implement it to most of the 4-cylinder cars as their full race exhaust. Do it PD. Do it.

This car's PP rating is far too high. It's slower than the LMP racers and those are all below 700.
I was testing it with an r18 at silverstone and the junior is faster through turns and the r18 beat me on the straight. Of course both cars were stock and with a tune you can get one car faster than the other. I forget the laptimes though

Totally agree. I did a race in Arcade at Big Williow against LMPs and yes the car stinks on straights but man it can carve a turn better than a holiday ham will ever be cut.

I so feel like schumacher or something flying by all the opponents. it's such great fun, and if you master it, it's quick as hell. went to 1st in under 40 seconds one race, not (really) hitting anyone (saying the AI sucks and takes the real fun out of the championship)

The description for the car says it has a I4, yet it has dual exhaust. When Vettel describes the car, he says it has a flat 4.

It wouldn't make much sense to have a short exhaust for one side, and a longer one for the other.

Flat 4 (or even a V4) sounds more logical, but the sound suggests a I4 with a big exhaust (not to be confused with a fart can).

Interesting...

I did a test of this car in the Spa 24 minutes. Finished second, 6 point something seconds behind the winner, but only because all the AI cars pitted twice and I didn't pit at all.

I suspect that I would have won as my DFGT decided to disconnect from my pedals and I lost quite a few seconds finding the connector and plugging it back in.

It's easily faster than anything in that race around the curves but is totally blown away by everything not from the 60's on the Kemmel straight.

I bought this miracle of a car five hours ago and I'm in love with it. I took it to the 'Ring and was lined up with LMP and Group C cars. I actually managed to beat them with a time of 6'35.929 and 149 milliseconds to spare. It took a lot of blocking on Döttinger Höhe but I won :D

I love it...the only downside is the FFB, it is way too low/light or soft, and the degrees of the wheel should be around 270º max.
I know a GP2 pilot and asked him about wheel ranges in real life a while back (because I play rFactor 2 and some more simulators and needed to know the actual degrees since I can change it in the PC).
Also he told me that FFB in open wheel cars should be a little bit heavy since the direction is quite direct as well as suspensions. No matter if the car is light.

If the FFB could be more or less like the Rocket mixed with the feel of the X2011, it should feel better.

If you are using a g25/g27 set the limit of roatation, as it is too loose standard... press the 2 centre red buttons on the gear lever thingy and the square button... which is perfect for the red bull...there are other settings x is standard triangle is very sensitive and the circle is somewhere in between

This is why I suggested on another thread that maybe PD are using this car to guage player reactions to what might be the new sound model. The sound issue never really bothered me overly, but I can say that it is a pleasure to hear these and the X14 (I assume it's that one) on the Goodwood Hillclimb.

Just a small correction - what we're presented with on GH is the X2010 Prototype.

Anyway, I agree completely. It's almost as if PD wanted to say they're getting somewhere with the sound part of the game.

Cheers, I wasn't sure which model it was and the TV is currently occupied with PS4 duties right now, so I couldn't check 👍

V4?
