When magazines talk about a car going around the "Ring" in X amount of time is that the same track as the regular Nordschleife track layout that is unlocked with a bronze win?

Almost. With industry pool laps traditionally the clock is started only at the end of the straight at T13 and stopped right after the last corner, so these times are a few seconds short of a full lap (not to be confused with the "BTG" times inofficially taken during tourist traffic, these leave out the complete Döttinger Höhe and are about half a minute shorter than a full lap).
