I tried to practice that race on that track and I sat in the pits for a while monitoring the top AI drivers and I just cannot mimic what they do on some of those turns.

If anybody does practice session between now and the race next Monday please let us know and maybe we could join

Guys did you use PS Messages app? I got notification app is no longer available and messages are integrated into PS app. I have this app too, but there werent any updates and there is no messages function :(

was a change over the new app started awhile ago so have stopped old ones .. delete old ones when you find the new one .. the logo looks brighter ..

Yep the message app is now integrated into the PS app. But the new PS app is no longer compatible with the older operating system on my tablet. Well done Sony. So I've deleted both!

I can now no longer see any PS messages unless I'm on my PS4 - so don't expect replies or information so often!

I just cannot mimic what they (the AI) do on some of those turns.
I've now done a few races and tests to get Monday sorted out and I can say don't bother trying to keep up with them. They do have some magical abilities around some of Sakitto's corners especially on higher settings. Against them I usually like to start from the back and generally that's where I stayed. :)

And those tests have resulted in.
Méganes @ the Sprint layout - 9 laps.
RS 01s @ the GP layout - 12 laps.

The AI controlled rolling start works fine here so we'll keep to that. Track penalties on. Default date used.
No rain. ;)

Now while I'm here, a question to everyone.

This R.S.R.S. championship ends in a few weeks. I don't think Sick is returning to PC2 anytime soon so if you've enjoyed my running of his vacated Monday spot - would you chaps like me to run something else in PC2 afterwards? I have a few new ideas which I'll try to develop further if anyone is interested.
If someone else would like to run anything on Mondays I'd of course join in with you.

My PS Plus runs out in early January. Like last year I'm contemplating renewing it since it's quite expensive, so my renewal may depend on the responses to the above question. I know a few of you are trying out other games which might draw you away, maybe even other consoles may do the same.

I'll of course be looking around for cheaper Plus offers - there's often some at this time of year. In fact with Black Friday it is on offer now. Hmm.

Lead the way, Captain Paul, and I'll go down with the ship. PC2 is still the best game racing wise in my opinion, I like it a lot. And you're doing a good job too.

I have started wondering though lately, how much longer SMS will keep the online support for this game. Has there been any news regarding that? I would think we could hear news any time now that PC2 will shut down soon.

Keep your lifejacket and water wings close by, you never know when it might spring a leak. :)

I wouldn't think it'll be anytime soon. They still have the PC1 servers up and running and that was out some while before PC2. It's not quite like PD in cutting all ties and moving on to the next game.

See you all tomorrow in Japan. Well sort of a replacement Japan. I think I prefer Sakitto to a similar shaped track also beginning with the letter S.

Holy Moly! The gap from 1st to 4th is miniscule! I can't wait to watch this replay. You guys put on a show for sure

Way to go @IfAndOr :gtpflag:Fighting off those 3 aliens must have been intense.

I'm in a pickle right now because I'm DYING to see the replay but my wife and daughter are holding me hostage watching "Hell's Kitchen". I actually do love that show. Thank you for sending Gordon Ramsay our way:)

I guess the replay will have to wait. I ran upstairs the second I got home from work to jump on with you guys, so I owe them.

Thank you for sending Gordon Ramsay our way
That's OK. You can keep him, we don't want him back. ;)

Defending the planet from invading extraterrestrials while at the same time trying to race is always a struggle. But I do my best. :dopey:

The Invisible Man ..
He was to me. I think he'd had enough and de-friend-ed me. :P

Wait, what? England doesn't LOVE Gordon Ramsay?

Ok. My wife had a headache and she was taking a nap on the couch and I was able to sneak back upstairs and start the replay.

There were two incidents right in front of me on lamp one that I really didn't even pay attention to because I was gripping so hard just trying to stay on the track myself.

The 1st was @JockeP22 and @half_sourly . I can't tell whose fault was it or if it was just a race incident and was nobody's fault at all. But, I will tell you that Rich was right behind both of them and never flinched. He smoothly passed them both.

The 2nd incident was immediately after that between @xeronima and @Don Mejillone. One went right and the other went left and now I have an answer as to why I moved up in the pack. Do you guys know if either one of you was at fault for that one?

Ok. As I mentioned in the other messaging thread for the PS app if anyone wants to watch the replay you can watch my replay by me doing a screen share and then giving you the controller.

Wow, I'm only on lap two and it's crazy that sourly got caught out by the same curb that bit Rich in lap one. It's incredible because in practice the day before Rich was explaining how dangerous those curbs can be, that they can just spin the car. And here, in just two laps they spun two of the best drivers.

YES. PLEASE. THANK YOU.

To me you're running the perfect format. I get those 3 races per week and most weeks that's all I get to do.

To keep the same format a suggestion could be a Ferrari series.

Sprint races on the 355 and feature race in the LMP9 (I think that's the class)

Both cars are quite stable and enjoyable with no setup required.

the 355 (Challenge)
Funnily enough that's on my list. Although not for sprint races as such, they wouldn't quite suit the "rough and tumble" format I think. Try the 488 Challenge as well because there might be a Ferrari Challenge, challenge in the pipeline sometime. ;)
Before that comes about though I'm thinking of something different in the meantime!

OK. My wife had a headache...
I believe there is a connection between these two sentences. :sly:

Oh and I got a team of men in and raised the kerbs at Sakitto overnight just to catch people out. :P

Other suggestions

Ford escort 1600 + GT GTE LM
Mercedes 190 + AMG GT3
BMW 2002 + M6 GT3 or m1 Procar

So many options

I forgot to say.

The winner of the "Launch a Mégane into space" prize goes to @xeronima.

During the qualifying session he had a really good go at it on the chicane. I've never seen a car fly so high or so far. I ought to give you an extra point! I had to stop and laugh. It's a pity you can't save the qually sessions.
