Resolutions

probably not . . . It all depends on the specs of it, but I haven't seen too many 15 inch monitors that could do over 1600*1200, and that is pushing it too. What brand is it and model number?

the icons would look like little nats flying around, now where was that key to make the icons run away from the cursor? that would be hillarious at that resoulution

well, what video card you got because that is most likely the reason it is able to keep up. It is the refresh rate of a monitor that determines what operating resolution a monitor can be used at. With a really good video card, you can push teh limits of it and get better resolutions.

Wait a gosh darn second here. . . Tercel edit you're first post, unless everything looks really fat on you monitor, you are not running 1860*640. . . Maybe 860*640 or 800 * 640, but not 1860 trust me!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I am still using a crappy video card, SIS 530, but I dunno by pushing the limits, what happens if i run the monitor at a higher resolution.

I mean, that option has to be there for something isnt it?

If you get over a res the monitor can handle it'll either A. Turn off or B. Put a little menu on the screen saying something like out of sync.

Btw... The 15" on my laptop will do 1600x1200. I highly doubt any std. edit: 15" tube screen will do that :-) Don't you think you're running 800x600 ?

enable large icons. . . That will probably be the max if not 1260 by 1024. . . Not a bad resolution seems to be industry standard of even on-board video cards :D

1024*768, my bad.

Everything looks small though.
:) Try to imagine what 1600x1200 would look like on a 15". And I'm running small fonts :D I Love it ! This is on TFT though. I also run 1600x1200 on my 19" tube which does tend to get a little annoying. Especially after too much coding...

So, is that a bad thing?

Are 15 '' made up to run on 800*600 or can I run it at 1024*768 without problems?

What I have noticed is that the monitor does this *click* sound everytime it starts, the same sound that the monitor does when you try to change your refresh rate.

You can run 1024x768 on a 15" just fine... I run that same resolution on my 12" laptop screen without any problems (though I set my web browser font slightly larger).

Honestly, how can anybody stand using 800x600? That is absolutely puny screen estate... I'd shoot myself if I had to use such a small resolution... I'm already getting tired of 1024x768.

I agree, well... after I changed to this new resolution.

I mean, I found this cool pic about the blue rx-7 that I wanted to put on my background, and after putting it, it looked ugly, so I switched the resolution and mother***** sweet jesus!, I cant return to 800*600 anymore.

I run 1600*1200 on my home computer -> At work I can only use 1260* 1024 'The Suck'!
