This is really a tough one: 159 corners in reverse. I have started on this with a mix of bronze to gold on sectors, but no result on the complete lap yet.
Anyone already successful?

The reverse layout was never raced in real life. The fact that this is actually a thing in GT7 makes you thankful that it's ultimately a video game, because racing the Nordschleife in reverse... you won't make it out of one lap alive.

Yeah I heard if you try to drive it in reverse in real life you immediately get killed by an axe wielding maniac.

I think it's absolutely brilliant.
Imagine PD would introduce a new track, complex, over 20 km long, everyone would be jubilant. You just have to forget it's the Ring. It's just a fantastic track in a beautiful hilly environment. With plenty of green :P

It's hard for sure! It's a bit like remembering the alphabet backwards. I find myself remembering where I am and the upcoming turns, with absolutely no idea where to brake. I've golded the sectors but haven't tried a full lap yet. Sectors 2, 3 and 4 gave me a heap of trouble.

I love it when someone comes out with absolutely sound, logical statements like this! Hats off to you.

Oh yes it was. And still is, every year in Rallye Köln-Ahlweiler.

And here is the actual layout. One artificial chicane in the middle of Kesslechen.

Cannot get past first sector, always going wide and slipping off track
I had the same problem initially. Try braking in three bouts. And try it really slow a few times and build it up from that.
Either this or send it like a lunatic and hope for the best, both ways work to some extent :D

Or ...

Don't take the Demo car's line ! Turn in a little bit later / take a wider entry to the initial kink. You will fall behind the Demo car in first but if you do it perfectly you'll be ahead of him before you approach the small carousel. Which he then takes unbelievably fast ...

EDIT
Does anyone know who the Demo driver was ?

Took me about 2 hours. One for all sectors and another one for the full lap. First sectors are definitely the hardest, because of how fast they are. You need to relearn all the little bumps and curves.
Gold times are not really hard, it's learning the track and having a smooth run that is.
Took me an hour to get a clean lap, but once I got it, it was 8 seconds under gold, with lots of little mistakes.

Original circuit experience was really harder. I already knew the track but struggled to reach gold. This time I got gold while discovering the track.

Btw Karussell is way better that way ^^

Messy lap, but thanks for the 6 million!

I think I can hit under 8 minutes there... but for now I will avoid the layout.

Since I do a lot of testing in the "regular" Nurburgring Nordschleife, I just kept in mind the corner speeds that each corner can be taken in, it's just that the entry speeds are vastly different. At least, that's how I saw it.

Among the guys who did it in 2-3 hours, did you practiced the track before ? In the dailies for example. Or was it your first go ?
For me, it was my first go. Some of the sectors took a few tries to get gold (like the first sector and the one with Karussell), but I got some others on my first attempt. Using the demo ghost helped immensely. It took about an hour to gold everything.

To be fair, I had some degree of familiarity with the Nordschleife in reverse (though comparing the physics of a nearly 20-year-old game that’s explicitly not a sim to GT7 is like apples to oranges; to say nothing about the track being far more accurate in GT7):

First go for me. Some tips :
  • gold every sector 2 times in a row : key is consistency, the most hard part is staying on track
  • don't know a specific breaking point ? how could you honestly. Brake earlier than you think, then use 50% braking power everywhere (this is KEY)
  • let the car roll : the porsche has great turning ability, so use it ! Let it roll in corner, it can take them fast if you don't touch any pedals
  • finally braking balance -> -3 . It helps stabilizing the car under heavy braking. We don(t need the brakes to help turning, the car does it already.

Thanks for you advices. Still not golded the regular direction since 2022. Not sure how many times I attempted, but at least 20 times.
I hope this is easier with the Porsche. Noted your points !

I was a bit surprised because after struggling on the first few sectors I thought it was going to be really difficult. Turns out all the way up to Karussell is much harder than the rest as those all took multiple attempts and quite a bit of line optimisation, but every sector afterwards I got gold first try by a decent margin. Wasn't a fan of the setup on the Porsche, way too understeery on controller for my liking so I had to be more careful on corner entry and maximise the speed I had on exit. My first full lap was an 8:02 and I was being extremely careful and conservative throughout, plenty of time left in it but not interested in going faster. I think the biggest thing that helped to start with was trying different lines and figuring out which curbs to use, also just avoid trying to brake super late everywhere and learn to roll through the corners with the speed the car already has. The only driving I had done on this layout before was one very slow lap in a 520 PP Scirocco to just see the track so the CE was the first time I'd driven it at racing speed.

I remember from another game with Nurburgring reverse as playable track:
Enthusia Professional Racing from PS2.

Did not try the full lap. Took me about 2-2.5 hrs to gold all sectors, however I was able to do it relatively comfortable on a pad, but not on a wheel. Not easy at the moment, do not yet understand/remember the layout and braking points. Do not have time to learn it now.
