According to Duhan, the team has rewritten much of the graphics engine. “This update includes several effects for post-processing,” he tells us, “such as depth of field, AO updates, glare, tonemapper updates, colour balancing, exposure and a ton of other features.”

Now they just have to work out how to use those post processing effects (depth of field, exposure / bloom) in moderation / tastefully...
 
It's a good start, but honestly, even in their own teaser video the graphics aren't really that good looking. Compared to any modern racing game. I love the way rF2 drives, but it's so distractingly poor looking that I find few reasons to boot it up when there are other sims that drive just as well.
