Guys, ever since rF2 build v382 I have been having an issue with my T500RS. It is as if everything works well for days, then suddenly as I am at a track and have tested, after getting back in the car my wheel rotation ratio slows down (normal 1to1, goes to 1to1.5/2). This is only happening in rF2, not the other sims. Any clues?

I am about to revert to v342 to see if this re-occurs.
 
I answered your ISI post. Make sure your fan is working, maybe the wheel is over heating?

The fan in mine died last year and TM sent me a new one. It was a PITA to install but my wheel stays a lot cooler now

I don't think it is that since I hear the fan and the problem persisted after letting it cool down. The problem never seems to be present in other sims. I am however going to keep feeling if it gets too hot.

Also, as I mentioned at the ISI forums, I reverted back to v342 with a clean install, the problem was not present. I will test it for a few days to see if it re-occurs.

Anyway, are the fans prone to failure? I got mine over a year ago, not sure they will send me a new one.

Yeah they are, it's a known problem if you got the old style fan. I don't know how to tell if you have the old or new style. My wheel was over a year old when they sent me a fan for free. I have had to get new paddles, a new fan and a new pot for the gas pedal too- only the paddles were under the 1 year. TM support is fantastic.

Logitech was great too, when I had my G25 if there were any issues they took care of me too (even though IIRC I only contacted them one time for the G25, but I have had to contact them for a mouse and something else too).

I had Fanatec CSP's and they did not provide timely, adequate or effective support when I contacted them 6 times in the year I had their pedals. I ended up tossing the pedals after they failed to replace the defective unit.

Now that you mention all of this...

-I never had the warm and fuzzy from reading about Fanatec.
-Yes, Logitech was great replacing my whole G25 wheel, even after the warranty had expired.
-I will contact Thrustmaster, it can't hurt to share the issue and hear what they say. I am also starting to have an annoying double shift occasionally, mainly from 3rd to 5th gear, odd.
 
I had a double shift issue (on down shifts) and they replaced the paddles for me. One thing to try first though, is to open up the wheel, find the plugs for the paddles and simply reverse them- put the right plug in the left and left plug in the right. That's been known to cure that issue.

I also have heard from a friend that ISI right now is working on a new UI that may (MIGHT) make it into the next build. My friend said it's a flash UI and it's being tested.
 
As an update to my T500RS and rFactor 2 issues;

-The rotation problem appears to have been a corruption to my ".PLR" file. Deleting it and creating a new one under v382 seems to have solved it.
-I am now dialoging with Thrustmaster to hopefully resolve the double up-shift issue.

New flash based UI? Sounds interesting and fancy. I personally don't mind the simple no-nonsense menus they traditionally have had. I can't wait to see what is around the corner!

Did you try the WSGT2 mod?
 
Thrustmaster processed my issue very quickly, they are sending me a new kit. I am impressed with the tech support and customer care, although I am not looking forward to taking my T50RS apart :/
 
taking the wheel itself apart is a piece of cake, don't sweat it. The pedals OTOH.....

the trucks need more gears and longer gears. You top out way too quick. I hope this is a beta. I don't know the technical regs of the real truck series, but this would be perfect in an 8 speed.

It is Beta. I managed to get more top speed by increasing the final ratio. But yeah, 8 gears would be more like it. Still a lot of fun though!

PS; wait a minute! My H-shifter only goes to 7th gear...you gotta use an H-shifter with these :p
 
rFactor 2 gameplay, is a lap at Loch Drummond with the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 by Apex Modding (still is not a final version).

 
Changing weather is one of the best things about rF2. We use random weather and it adds one more element to the game that you can't predict what the weather will do and ramps up the intensity of each race. Add in the safety car and racing became a lot more interesting!

We did a race at Loch Drummond and the weekend was dry until about 90 minutes into the 2 hour race. I was comfortably [bored] in the lead by 40+ secs then we had a shower for only about 10 mins but it was enough that we all pitted for wets except that one guy who stayed on slicks. He spun down the hill into into Dun Ringill Dell and flipped into the gravel trap and landed upside down (no auto flipping cars over at our group) and the safety car came out!

We all pitted for slicks (the rain stopped, sun was out, but track was wet, with a drying line forming) but I made the decision to pit too late and ended up in second at the back of the crocodile just behind the guy in 1st place- with 16 mins left. It turned into one of the best battles I have ever been in. We worked our way through traffic (everyone gave way) and I chased him on his rear bumper for several laps until he got a *little* wide on top of the Clothes Line on Lap 66, got off the dry line and on to the wet off line and I passed him to win the race by 2 secs- about how much he lost when he got wide.

We also use forced pit stops and it is one more skill you have to work on to win. This past Sunday in a 1 hour race I won by 0.8 secs- after gaining 3 secs in the pits from the guy who came in 2nd. rFactor 2 has provided the most intense racing I've ever had in a game.
 
Woah! Exciting recount. I agree with everything you say, we share a love for rFactor 2. Some other SIMs are great, they all seems to lack that special feeling though.
 
Just having that knowledge in the back of your head that rain *might* happen ramps up the tension for me. If I'm in 2nd hunting down the guy in 1st who's 20 secs ahead, I know a rain shower or a safety car can make it a race again real fast. Same if I am in the lead I know that lead is not secure.

My #1 comlaint in older sims was a lack of change with the track and conditions. Real races don't stay the same and tires do go off more than they used to in older sims. With the BES mod, the tires hit that cliff and go off in a big way so you have to know when to drive for the clock and when to drive for the tires. With older sims I did have some awesome races (a rF1 race at Mid-O and a Race07 race at Zandy stand out) but in rF2 I have already had more memorable races.
