me because he is going to be confused why im playing classic rock in a Japanese ricer

Dosen't matter what you're playing (Although classic rock rules 👍 ) He has more horses under the bonnet, you have a heavier car to due to the weight of the stereo, so he'd 0wn you badly.

No, I was discriminating against, to coin a phrase, "ma-hoo-ssive" stereo systems. But as a part of the whole effect - slapping in enough amps to balance your engine (which is probably in the front) is ridiculous, but generally it comes after the stickers, "aero package" (meaning aero drag package), obligatory bonnet (hood) scoop and neons.

I'll re-quote myself...

k w/e. I misunderstood what you were saying.

I've said this in another thread, but I guess I need to spread my view around a bit.

Rice or Ricer is more about an ATTITUDE than what you've done to your car.
I was reading an automotive publication from 1993 that was full of vehicles with 17-inch wheels, huge exhausts, wings, and engine mods, lowered into the weeds.
The owners of these vehicles can be compared with tuners of today. They like to hang with like minded people, fix up their vehicles, go fast at times (usually on the track). These things are fine in my mind. And the majority of competent tuners/hot-rodders are of this ilk.
BTW the publcation I was perusing was Sport Truck.
All the stuff you see on Civics, Neons, Cavaliers, etc. Was first seen on a Full-Size Chevy Truck.

IMHO a 'ricer' is an idiot (not meaning to insult idiots) that pulls up in his shoddily modded car, and revs on me in my Caravan.:irked: I will not be racing you in my Caravan. I don't want to embarass you in front of your friends, nor myself in front of the police.
A ricer will pull up on you in heavy traffic and do the "flashy thing" with their brights, and pull around you like they won a race.
A ricer will come flying thru a residential area going twice the posted speed limit, endangering every little kid in the neighborhood. Thank God for the "Fart Cans" that give us enough warning to yank the little ones out of the street.
A ricer has 3000 watts of stereo in his CRX, and cruises up my street using every one of those watts to deafen the people two counties over. Newsflash! Happiness is not having a stereo so loud that you have blood running out of your ears. Please turn it down so my dog will be brave enough to come out from under the bed.:irked:

It is not rice (or a crime) to have a nice, modified car. Whether those mods are to make the car faster, or more entertaining to be in for long periods of time, matters not. Well, it matters not as long as you are responsible, and somewhat intelligent as you drive that car.

Here, ends the rant.

Please shorten your signature. The maximum at GTP is six lines, including blank ones. Your signature is... err... ummm... *takes out calculator*... Bloody HUGE!

Well, the sad thing is most of the deffinitions of rice i've read here.......are just your own personal vendetas against something that someone else likes.....I don't mind having a system that is extremely loud...It's nice, considering you can leave your car and walk to talk to some friends and still hear your music...Stop hating on someone elses likes.....If people like cars with bodykits and wings let em like it...I hate 99% of mustangs, I don't run around saying OH MUSTANGS ARE CRAP CRAP CRAAAAAAP. I keep my mouth/keys shut because this forum isn't here to start fights or make enemies.

Basically a ricer is any one who has big speakers, neon lights, exhaust that only sound loud, fake fiber glass body kits, etc. or someone who cares about looks.

However what really makes my angry is people who say
"your a ricer because you don't like drift style rims"
(black in the front silver in the back.) I just like matching rims, who cares if I don't like that style, I think it looks too ghetto. Sure I like drifting (my favorite type of racing along with rallying) but who cares!:banghead:

Oh my god. I am totally sick of all you people!
Rice sucks, fart cans, rice rockets bla bla bla,
Don't you ever shut up? Isn't there one time when yo can leave ricers alone? They do what they enjoy and so do you.
I don't start personal vendettas against muscle cars do I?
So why should you do it against ricers?
And do you know the reason most ricers use japanese cars?
They're cheaper to import and to modify.
You can't import a GT500 in for 20,000 dollars can you?
And when has anybody seen bodykits or a rear wing for a camaro? Ricers arent millionares, So how are they supposed to afford a 60K muscle car and beef it up when they can just get a 20K Japanese import and spend 5K on it?

You all need to shut up for once.

At which point someone leaps into your car and nicks it, because the keys are still in it. Plus I've got a stereo in my car so I can listen to what I like - be it music or the sports/news channel - so I don't want to be forced to listen to what you want instead.

But this is beside the point. A big ass stereo does not a ricer make. A £12,000 stereo/speaker/amp set in a £550 car does.

Obviously, you feel that you are a ricer.
If you conform to any of the descriptions in post #41, then to me, you are.
If not, you drive a nice car that happens to be fixed up.
As I said, Being a "ricer" in my book, is mostly about attitude.

First if you leave your car completely unattended with people around it..You deserve to get it stolen, if that is what nicked means.....And you arn't forced to listen to what I like...You can walk over to me and politely ask me to turn it down and I will oblige...

Most people will flip you the bird if you ask them politely to turn down their music.
You have just proven yourself to be mature, sensible and not a ricer. You don't possess the ATTITUDE.

wow...3 pages. Apparently there are a lot of different views being expressed in here. And to te guy talking aobut the cheap and affordable thing...if you wnated you could buy a 10 G 90's american car and you wouldnt have to touch it. I bought an '86 Z28 for 3600 CDN and spent a good 3-4 grand and now its pumping nearly 440. Where i live there isnt any respect for a ricer just because three are too many of them. If i ever roll by with my borla exhaust bubling nobody stands in my way. Yet i spent half the price most would to "rice out" an import.
